I'm using rsync to copy dvb modules, did you also copy firmwares from TBS ??

I don't recall seeing any relevant files there but will have a look tomorrow.  Thanks piotr

There should be in tar.gz from Tbs driver ;) just look ;) you must copy to /lib/firmware also Please check dmesg there you should find info if firmware missing when init tuner

Here's RC2 with the media stuff and DVB drivers in the kernel enabled.  I'd be grateful if someone tested it as I don't have a compatible tv card.

EDIT: Monkeyair has kindly tested and confirmed these are working.

Unfortunately, this doesn't include the same support for tuners that was in the 6b15 release, as both my tuners are now not working :(

Hopefully we can get the drivers from 6b15 included - I was really enjoying watching! :)

No, sorry, it just includes the drivers that are included by default in the kernel.  I think piotrasd uses the CrazyCat kernel.  But I think this thread and my postings illustrate that I'm not quite up to adding extra drivers yet!

Totally wasn't complaining, just observing :)

I hope piotrasd pushes rc2 at his earliest convenience then, it was so nice to have OTA PVR again :)

I didn't take it as a complaint at all mate.  Out of interest, what tuners are you using?

Right, so it's apparent that my MediaBuild is sometimes a bit hit & miss, but here's RC3.  As always it detects no tuners because my card isn't in the kernel.  I've changed tack slightly and am now compiling the drivers as modules rather than including them in the kernel.  I'm hoping that might help.

Tophicles - Which mediabuild do you normally use when piotrasd posts them - the regular or CrazyCat one?

Rename the files to bzroot & bzimage and remember to keep backups of your old bzroot & bzimage so you can roll back if there are any problems either with my Media Build or with RC3 itself.

I have CHBMB's RC3 build running and can confirm that he's done a cracking job! All good over here  ;)

Hey,

Have you included all the drivers for USB TV Tuners for RC3? When I tried your RC2 build, my tuner wasn't detected and I ended up building my own.

Cheers

I believe so, as long as your drivers are in the kernel.

All good in the hood with your rc3 kernel :)

So awesome, now I have my programs recording and I spent an hour matching up channel icons in the EPG - whew!

So very many thanks for the assistance!

Now, if we could just get people to update the OP when there is a new version of the plugin or tvheadend/vdr packages!

It gets tedious to hunt through the posts to find the updated versions. :) If it would help, I've got a webserver where the packages could be hosted as long as we wish...

Hello,

I'm a longtime Ubuntu tvheadend user and now trying to get it working on unRAID.  I've installed the v6.0 plugin and am using CHBMB's Media tree enabled RC3. The plugin works and the Media tree is detected...unfortunately, my Hauppauge HVR-2250 tuner is not detected by the plugin.

root@mediaserver:~# dmesg | grep saa

saa7164 0000:01:00.0: Direct firmware load for NXP7164-2010-03-10.1.fw failed with error -2
saa7164_downloadfirmware() Upload failed. (file not found?)

In Ubuntu, I'd just drop NXP7164-2010-03-10.1.fw in /lib/firmware and it would work, but that's obviously not possible here. Will I need to learn how to compile this in myself? Or am I missing something simple?

Thanks!

Yeah, there's a few posts on my efforts at achieving the same with a TBS card, hoping for some help on it myself.

I'll send piotrasd a message and see how he feels about it all, I agree that a central point would be useful, there have been a few people instrumental in getting tvhead to work on Unraid, piotrasd obviously, saarg, mettbrot, and W-W I think it would be great if a single direction was planned, personally I think docker for tvheadend is the way forward, VDR I've never used and I'm not sure piotrasd is still developing it, and I think if we can disseminate the information on how to compile a kernel and add in extra drivers, then things would run fairly smoothly.

gfjardim has posted a script earlier in this thread that's great for recompiling (needs a small alteration now we're on v4 of the kernel) but adding in extra drivers is where I get completely flummoxed!

I spoke too soon :(

Are you using the plugin, the program or the docker?

Would recommend tobbenb's docker - unstable been rock solid for me.

Using Mettbrott's plugin. It used to work fine.

It seems it's when a program is attempted to be recorded:

I've got an idea on how to make this process easier.  Give me a day or so to test and speak to saarg. ;)
