unRAID Server Release 6.1 Available

Recommended Posts

Using the openelec VM should be the same experience as you have now.

The only thing you should note is that you need to be able to pass through the video card. You should read a little in the KVM forum.

I will definitely look at some more stuff. As long as my CPU/MB support HVM/IOMMU I should be good to go? Are there any requirements on the video card itself?

I am looking at possibly:

XFX AMD Radeon HD 5450 1GB GDDR3 VGA/DVI/HDMI Low-Profile PCI-Express Graphics Card HD545XZQH2;HD-545X-ZQH2

ASUS GeForce 210 1GB 64-bit DDR3 PCI Express 2.0 x16 Low Profile Ready Video Card, EN210 SILENT/DI/1GD3/V2(LP)

If i were you i would go for the gt720 at the very least,as the cards you listed are quite old and might cause issues. But quite a number of people have had success with the gt720

Id delete the downloaded files and do a manual upgrade as per the wiki:

http://lime-technology.com/wiki/index.php/Upgrading_to_UnRAID_v6 (Link Fixed)

Just to be on the safe side, I always make a note before rebooting of which drives are assigned to each slot, just to make sure I dont assign the parity as a different drive. Also, do a backup of the USB stick so you can roll back if you need to.

EDIT : updated link to be v6 relevant

When you are doing the backup of the USB stick, be sure to stop the array first.  That action will prevent unRAID from starting a parity check if you should happen to need to roll back.

I'm somewhat mystified by your post.  If you updated using the plugins page, you would get a download of 6.1.4, not 6.1.0.  The only way you could normally get the results above is if this was performed sometime between August 31 and September 6.

I agree with Mark, do a manual upgrade instead, download 6.1.4 from the LimeTech downloads page, and install it.

That link is obsolete, points to the upgrade instructions for v5, not v6.  I've modified it accordingly.  The correct link should be Upgrading to UnRAID v6.

Thanks guys but I'm not doing this. Seems too similar to the old "Format C:\", with the risk of destroying my array. I don't even like rebooting this box let alone leaving it off for hours while I get this done.

I wondered about that too, here's the screenshot:

I expect someone at unraid just needs to fix the download links. Surely its just that the wrong URL or MD5 is somewhere and needs to be fixed?

Version 6.1-rc (release candidates) were introduced using an interim update reference and a forced update to 6.1.0.

However version 6.1.0 is not available anymore as download, your only option at this point is to do a manual update.

Thanks for replying.

Though I've gotta say I'm dissapointed. Why is it not available as an update anymore? Its less than 6 months old.

There have already been several point releases to the 6.1 series (the latest being 6.1.6) to fix issues.  Why would you want to install a version that has known issues that have since been fixed?

Because thats the only option. If the GUI let me update to the latest version I'd obviously pick that. I assume If the update to 6.1.0 was working then from there I'd then be able to update to the latest.

It is surely extemely naive to expect that all users will update to every minor release as they come out? I really doubt I'm the only user updating my storage appliance a few times a year, if that.

I updated to this version 6 months ago, and now I've come to update again 6 months later and can't because some files which should be available aren't. That's whats dissapointing.

Fair enough.  Download 6.1.6 http://dnld.lime-technology.com/stable/unRAIDServer-6.1.6-x86_64.zip Open the zip file and extract bzimage & bzroot onto your flash drive and reboot the server.

Look OK? Don't need to do anything with docker-update or any of the other cron jobs or the share.cfg?
