January 26, 201115 yr There are no files in root. I don't think the directory exists. That command ls -l /root gives total 0 as the output. What should I expect it to be and how do i get them? I'm starting the unMenu server through putty with the command /boot/unmenu/uu. I have installed nothing else to unRaid. Only moved to a pro license and implemented user security. About the fatal errors I think it's because unMenu is behaving comparatively unresponsive on system compared to the unRaid webserver so I lose patience and try to open another page while one is trying to load.
January 26, 201115 yr "root" is the top level of your flash drive. It is not a directory. i.e C:\ would be the "root" of your c drive.

That is interesting, since the /root directory is part of the distribution created in RAM when the unRAID server is booted. Either you accidentally deleted the files, or your downloaded version of unRAID is incomplete. First, stop your array and reboot. The "ls" command should look a lot like this: root@Tower:~# ls -l /root total 4 lrwxrwxrwx 1 root root 26 Jan 12 00:17 initconfig -> /usr/local/sbin/initconfig* -rwxr-xr-x 1 root root 171 Jan 12 00:17 mdcmd* lrwxrwxrwx 1 root root 25 Jan 12 00:17 powerdown -> /usr/local/sbin/powerdown lrwxrwxrwx 1 root root 18 Jan 12 00:17 samba -> /etc/rc.d/rc.samba* Joe L.
January 26, 201115 yr Author "root" is the top level of your flash drive. It is not a directory. i.e C:\ would be the "root" of your c drive. I know you are trying to be helpful, but you are wrong. /root is the home directory of the "root" user. It most certainly does have files in it, as shown in my previous post. "/boot" is the top level of your flash drive and has nothing to do with what "dps" is missing. In windows you can get to it (/boot) in File-Explorer at \\tower\flash Joe L.

I saw root and thought boot. Sorry about that.
January 26, 201115 yr Nope. No go. After reboot. root@Grail:~# ls -l /root total 0 My server is acting a bit weird. The reboot script doesn't work, the unRaid webserver shows rebooting but doesn't actually go offline and reboot. I need to power cycle. I have downloaded 4.7 AiO and unzipped it but there is no root directory in it. When does root get created? At first login? What are my options? Can I just rewrite my flash drive with the contents of the 4.7 zip file and restart. Will I lose all my shares and data if I do that?
January 26, 201115 yr Author Unzip the distribution and replace the bzroot and bzimage files only on your flash drive, then reboot. You may have memory problems. Perform a full memory test for several cycles, preferably overnight. The /root directory is created when the system is booted and bzroot is un-compressed. It is always there. Joe L.
January 26, 201115 yr Beautiful. Everything is working perfectly now. Followed the procedure to upgrade to to 4.7. Root started showing files in it and unMenu is working great. Thanks a ton!
January 28, 201115 yr Using unMenu with unRAID 4.7 Tried to install package for ViM and it gives me the error... Installed, but version is different. Current version='' expected '7.2'
January 28, 201115 yr Author Using unMenu with unRAID 4.7 Tried to install package for ViM and it gives me the error... Installed, but version is different. Current version='' expected '7.2' unfortunately, if you were to try to run it, it would complain of an incompatible version of one of the shared libraries You'll see the error if you invoke it as: /usr/bin/vim --version It prints: /usr/bin/vim: /lib/libc.so.6: version `GLIBC_2.11' not found (required by /usr/bin/vim) I do not have a replacement download package identified. If you find one, let me know. Joe L.
February 2, 201115 yr Joe L., I'm seeing this error when trying to install unmenu updates: [pre]Downloading dynamic-dns-unmenu-package.conf rev $Revision: 198 $ $Date: 2010-12-21 20:47:29 -0500 (Tue, 21 Dec 2010) $ 8769d39da16598d7bd84e30a3645ff60 != a89a38023635eae73d5c08076b603ad7 or b2c67ae5d9ab5f0e74b7c2a3f64a5178, /tmp/unmenu_tmp/dynamic-dns-unmenu-package.conf not installed[/pre]

Let me check it out. Joe L.
February 3, 201115 yr Author I had inadvertently left a line at the top of the dynamic-dns-unmenu-package.conf file. It basically says "#AUTO_UPDATE = NO" You can try once more now. I think I've got it fixed. If, by chance you have previously downloaded the version with the AUTO_INSTALL=NO line, you'll need to delete the dynamic-dns-unmenu-package.conf yourself, or at the least, delete the top lie before the new one will auto-update. Joe L.
February 13, 201115 yr Joe FYI: Running Parity-Check on Version 5, on unMENU it doesn't tell that this is running.
February 13, 201115 yr Yes, its related to the status command output having changed somewhat in 5.0 from what the 4.x reports.
February 14, 201115 yr Was showing someone unMENU at work (remotely from another home computer) and while I was on the Network Performance screen it stopped working and now I cannot navigate to unMENU. I tried rebooting the unRAID server and I can get to the default unRAID page, but unMENU is gone. I have done nothing else besides navigating to the site. What gives?

You might not have added a line to your config/go file to start it again upon reboot. Joe L.
February 14, 201115 yr Any ideas on why it would have crapped out like that? I guess Ill have to add that when I get home. Edit: I was able to modify the GO file remotely and it is up and running now, thanks Joe
February 14, 201115 yr Author Any ideas on why it would have crapped out like that? I guess Ill have to add that when I get home. no... what did you attempt to do? It might have just been servicing your request and you disconnected before it returned. It is specifically invoked in an enclosing loop (in the "uu" script) because Internet Explorer closes connections if you abandon some screens. Since you rebooted, you'll never really know since the previous system log is replaced with the new.
February 16, 201115 yr Don't know if anyone else experienced this but I couldn't figure out why my ssh wouldn't reinstall after reboot. It was because of it's dependencies being installed after openssh. Solved this by adding a -r to the sort of the auto install line
February 17, 201115 yr Don't know if anyone else experienced this but I couldn't figure out why my ssh wouldn't reinstall after reboot. It was because of it's dependencies being installed after openssh. Solved this by adding a -r to the sort of the auto install line I have same issue after installing 5.0B4 so you are saying changing the line to this solves the issue ? cd /boot/packages && find . -name '*.auto_install' -type f -print | sort -r | xargs -n1 sh -c tested and it works now as above ... ssh is installed at boot now
February 18, 201115 yr Just wanted to give an update to my "bad method" that occurs in my syslog. It ended on Jan 25! My wife's computer crashed. No more issue. I did fix her computer, was a Windows auto update/restore issue and a hard drive (maybe). Now that it is all up and running anew, no more issues from it in my Syslog. What ever it was that caused the problem is now gone.
February 20, 201115 yr I'm sure this has been mentioned somewhere in the 67 pages of this thread, but I'll be damned if I can find it. Is there a way to get unmenu to automatically start up without having to type "./uu" every time you reboot? Is there a Linux equivalent of autoexec.bat?

The system automatically executes the script at /boot/config/go -- you can add the startup line there. I added this at the end of my /boot/config/go file: /boot/unmenu/uu As long as that's where you have it installed, that'll get the job done.
