Unraid crashes/freezes daily

New user here, recently built an Unraid NAS for Plex. I'm loving nearly everything about it, except for the server crashing/freezing ~daily.

Symptoms: I randomly lose all connection to the server via the web UI and on my network. The console stays on, but no longer accepts keyboard input, so I can't retreive any logs. There are no error messages shown, just the tower login prompt with blinking cursor.

I've tried the Fix Common Problems plugin. I followed all of the advice it gave, including updating my Unraid version for Ryzen support as well as updating my BIOS firmware. The log file and diagnostics generated by FCP are attached. I also ran 3 passes of Memory Test with no errors.

Specs:

Unraid Ver. 6.4.0_rc14 (as advised to upgrade by FCP for my Ryzen CPU)

on a Verbatim Store N' Go USB

AMD Ryzen 5 1600x CPU

Gygabyte GA-AB350M-Gaming 3 (Bios version F7a) Motherboard

EVGA SuperNOVA 650w G2 Gold PSU

3x Seagate Ironwolf 8TB NAS Drives (1 parity, no errors detected on them)

1x Samsung 850 EVO 250 BM M.2 for Cache

I'm also using brand new CAT6 cables with a gigabit switch. My desktop is connected to the same switch and doesn't seem to drop connection at all.

Any help with this issue would be amazing, thank you.

Would you try at BIOS disable "C-State" first and keep CPU have some loading.

The attach log haven't any clue for troubshooting, those very short-time.

According your description, It seems PC was completely hang. I have same problem in previous only ( cause by C-State ), after new unRAID release and BIOS update no problem now.

But few days ago, I got my system crash ( no hang ) manytime, after troubleshoot I found it is 1 of RAM module have problem, I take it out then all resume normal. ( The RAM was new, not running more then 1 month )

I'm actually trying that right now and the server has been up for a little over 4 hours with c-state disabled. Hopefully no more crashes but I'll make sure to update with more info if it does.

I currently have the following and appear to be stable after 1 day and 16 hours (it was worse before)

I'm not saying that everything works due to the rc14, but looks to be okay right now.

  • 4 years later...

I have this freezing problem now. Did the C-state fix the issue? or did something else fix it? I am using my old PC for it which is as following:

Ryzen 7 1700x

Asus Strix B350-F Gaming

16gb ram

m.2 2tb Samsung 970 EVO (using as a cache disk)

two 14tb HDD that are WD and getting a 3rd one.

Nvidia 2070 Super

650 gold EVGA power supply.

I´m new to this so I´m not sure what to do but it keeps freezing after a couple of hours of running normally with no errors, Longest it has stayed active is around 16hours. Can anyone help me?
