Edit: what happened to -rc2 you ask?  Nothing to see here, move along folks O.o

Version 6.5.0-rc3 2018-03-03

Summary:

  • Updated ntp which addresses some CVE's and restore default NTP enabled, referencing google public NTP servers.
  • Restored console webGUI operation.
  • Misc. bug fixes.

Base distro:

  • gawk: version 4.2.1
  • libunistring: version 0.9.9
  • libxshmfence: version 1.3
  • lxterminal: version 0.3.1
  • mesa: version 17.3.6
  • ntp: version 4.2.8p11 (CVE-2016-1549, CVE-2018-7182, CVE-2018-7170, CVE-2018-7184, CVE-2018-7185)
  • p11-kit: version 0.23.10
  • php: version 7.2.3
  • tevent: version 0.9.36
  • vte3: version 0.44.3
  • xfsprogs: version 4.15.1

Management:

  • accommodate buggy dhcp servers which hand out a single host IPv6 address
  • fix desktop gui mode by re-enabling graphics compositing due to new mesa version
  • upon upgrade strip metric value from GATEWAY if present
  • shfs: support run-time logging level change
  • webgui: Fixed regression error in Docker settings
  • webgui: Fixed version/date extraction in previous unRAID version
  • webgui: Updated tablesorter to v2.29.6 and fixed sorting issue in browser
  • webgui: Corrected PHP warnings

Version 6.5.0-rc1 2018-02-28

Summary:

  • Updated linux kernel includes more patches related to Meltdown/Spectre.
  • Refreshed base packages to latest versions.
  • We added a workaround for Safari to display CPU Load Statistics correctly.
  • We have disabled NTP by default. For new installations we suggest using 0.pool.ntp.org as described in their documentation. Note that unRAID OS will preserve the ntp.drift file across system reboots on your USB Flash boot device.
  • Resident network guru bonienl continues to make networking refinements:
    • Fixed default gateway with different metrics. Now same gateway with multiple metrics properly set up
    • Fixed route_up and route_down functions. Now adding and removing routes handles IPv6 link local addresses and it is allowed to add the same route multiple times with different metric and interface.
    • Routing table shows interface name too with default routes
    • Network settings page is updated thru a websocket (/sub/dhcp), this ensures info is always present. Another nice advantage of websockets.
    • Cleanup of network.cfg file. Only necessary settings are stored. This greatly reduces the number of entries.
    • Some fixes in the network settings page itself, better user experience.
    • IPv6 routes have their own metric value, can be set independently of IPv4
    • Docker fixes for custom networks
    • Some code cleanup
  • Another nice feature added by bonienl is the ability to downgrade to the previous unRAID-OS release.
  • Upgraded noVNC. This is very much improved, give it a try!

  • at-spi2-atk: version 2.26.1
  • at-spi2-core: version 2.26.2

Can't boot in non-GUI mode (same was with 6.5.0-rc1). Tried recreating USB flash drive with unRAID USB Creator tool for windows and still can boot only on unRAID GUI mode.

When booting non-GUI mode it says "Loading bzroot ok", then screen become black for a second and then everything returns back with blinking cursor and nothing happens.

(Relatively) Minor Issue, but an annoyance for those with multiple servers

Starting with RC1, the local terminal (and any SSH terminals) do not show the name of the server any more

Not really so minor - for someone with lots of virtual and physical machines, it's rather important that the prompt and windows title clearly indicates the target machine and user account. Writing reboot on the wrong machine can create quite a lot of havoc.

Got my problem sorted out.  I've always used a NetBIOS incompatible server name (it had an underscore it in).  unRaid always threw up a little warning next to the name saying it wasn't compatible with NetBIOS, but since both Windows and unRaid have worked with it since the dawn of time, I've never cared.  6.5+ while everything still worked, the server wasn't identified correctly in SSH.

Bitch though is that my Kodi library references the the media via the non-compliant name, and now I'm basically going to have to rebuild the library to reference the new name   >:(

i've had to downgrade to 6.4.1 and hard reset.  some files on the array weren't readable causing connection timeouts, the docker process was non-responsive and the mover was also stuck running but not moving anything.   unfortunately i wasn't able to get diags, sry.

What have you set as your NTP server settings (see date and time settings)?

Remove any quotes or double-quotes

Have been following the release threads and decided to jump in at 6.5.0-rc3.  After all of the discussion in the rc1 release, I went to the 'Time and Date' tab to check what the NPT Server settings were and found them unchanged from .6.41.  What is the current status of this issue?  Should I be changing myself and, if so, to what (I am in US EST zone)?

Once you have set the NTP servers, they won't change. This only applies to new installations. If you want you can use the google NTP servers:

time1.google.com

time2.google.com

time3.google.com

time4.google.com

As a user you can point to any NTP servers that you want, including pool.ntp.org.  As a vendor the ntp folks don't want "appliances" preconfigured out of the box pointing at their generic NTP server endpoints (for whatever reason).

As @bonienl has pointed out, this is only for new installations, we don't touch whatever is already configured.

So here I was happily running 6.5.0-rc1, when a banner on top of the main-page told me unRAID told me 'unRAID OS v6.5.0-rc2 is available. Download now' with a link that gave me an error because RC2 was not available. I tried a bit later and instead of RC2 it started downloading RC3. Would you kindly make sure all the version information matches up? Cutting edge is already confusing enough as it is without all the version-confusion.

Yeah sorry about that, -rc2 was released and then immediately take down because of a late night brain fart.  But your complaint is duly noted.
