[Support] binhex - qBittorrentVPN

I'm using PIA and everything works fine but after about 30-45 minutes all downloads halt and the webUI shows my connection as firewalled. If I restart the container everything is fine again but have to keep repeating this. What am I doing wrong?

  • I rolled back to tag 5.1.1-1-01 which fixed the issue for me. I guess the new update wasn't tested for wireguard connections. Edit the docker container and change "Repository" from binhex/arch-qbitt

  • FWIW, I found this method in Reddit that seemed to work for me until they fix the log bug. But note if you have qbittorrent internet facing, it's a risk.   Add this line under [Preferences]

Hello! I have been using wireguard successfully for a long time with this container, today though when the container restarted I got the following error: 2025-06-27 10:35:26,490 DEBG 'start-script'

Using ProtonVPN. Setup the container, did not change any ports, added in my VPN User & Pass, and then uploaded my WireGuardVPN config as well. My subnet is set correctly but when I navigate to 192.168.7.254:8080 I don't resolve. I've tried with https://, I've tried appending the port to my various addresses my server is reachable at, and tried using my Tailscale address but no joy. Am I missing something?

This just cycles constantly. Downloads will resume for a minute or two, then spend 10-15 minutes with everything inaccesible, then repeat.

I have a lot of torrents seeding. Over 7000. I'm having to restart the container once a day now. I've enabled debug and will wait until I have to restart it again. Was wondering if this is just a limitation and I should set-up another container?

The default web ui is a bit crud, VueTorrent is a lot more responsive and mobile friendly too!, might be worth a shot if your issue is web ui instability.

I will need to see a log to help further, please see the following link:- https://github.com/binhex/documentation/blob/master/docker/faq/help.md#unraid-users

Is there any way to setup the WG VPN in a fail over configuration? It would be nice to have it automatically try another server if the first one fails. Proton VPN likes to take their servers down for maintenance, other times they're just full.

Not at present, wireguard does not support the idea of multiple remote endpoints sadly (unlike openvpn).

Client seems to die. I lose connection to all of my trackers. When I open up the webui it can't establish a connection. Looking in the logs I didn't see anything obvious. Debug mode is now enabled so will hopefully give me a better idea. I'll try out the interface you recommended.

Yeah of course, sorry. Both attached here, left the container running for a while so it shows the connection coming and going.

do you have anything blocking name servers?, the issue is name resolution, it seems intermittent though, got pfsense, opnsense, pihole running?, if so check for blocking of port 53, this container will be using the specified name servers 1.1.1.1 and 1.0.0.1

None of those. Only dockers running are arr stack and cloudflared currently. Oh, and Tailscale.

Ran netstat in console and can't see anything on port 53 either.

Hello, I'm really new to Docker and really stuck trying to setup this container. I'm trying to set this up with ProtonVPN but no matter how I configure the settings, if I enable the VPN, the docker won't start. As soon as I disable the VPN, then it starts with no problem. I've watched a few YouTube videos and tried to follow along but they are all for v6 of Unraid and I'm on v7. In the older videos all the fields are called "Key#" and in the one I'm looking at, the all have names but the descriptions don't always match. I could really use some help here. I'm perfectly happy to pay to support this product but there's not much point if I can't even get it to run. Thanks for any help you can offer.

Hey there. So with debug enabled it seems like there's a process just killing the qbit process. Also using VUE now.

I think you’re going to need to post the entire supervisord.log file and perhaps your docker run command. Be sure to redact any users/passwords.

Now that I think about it. I'm pretty sure that's just me restarting the container. So doesn't help anyways. I posted docker run command up the chain, but can attach it again. But even still it won't help as no logs were captured when the qbit process dies. I'll have to wait again. Seems to happen over night.

Thanks so much! I had read through the FAQ but as I was able to get the webUI fine it didn't realise that one was relevant.

All seems great now!

This worked fine overnight and into today when it has just started doing the same thing again. Tailscale plugin is uninstalled, no new dockers or plugins added. Just installed a new hard drive, booted up the tower and now its repeating the same process. Going to remove this docker and start from scratch and see what happens.

Never managed to get a consistently working install of this, just continued the same cycle so eventually just settled for running a different qbittorrent container and networking it through a Gluetun container.

Will likely return to this at some point but for now it has defeated me.

Still not sure why the client is dying over night. Is there somewhere else I might be able to capture logs? Looking at top shows expected processes I believe. I might just need to have a script rotate it.

Hello..

I´ve just reinstalled binhex-qbittorrentvpn, because of an error:(

The problem i´ve got now is, that i am using protonvpn, and before when it was installed. My port changed everytime i restarted my container..  It´s not happening now..

I have added +pmp on my username, and i have deactivated Nat-pmp in my webgui..

When i use curl ifconfig.co/country i get the right ip.. but i dont know how to make qbittorrent change port automatically???

Hope someone can help..

Thank you

I'm finally getting back around to this after moving my NAS to a different location. So the FAQ got me to the download site for Proton but for both OpenVPN and Wireguard, the site is asking which platform I want to use. I was assuming "GNU/Linux" at first but then I thought I better double check with you and ask. :)

Ok, you can ignore my last question as I got the Docker up and running to the point of getting to the login prompt. My only issue now is I can't figure out the default admin password. Can anyone help me with that? Again I'm on Unraid 7.0.1, with the docker that was last updated on 2/19/25.
