You have no information about your server (version of unRAID, amount of RAM, do you use a swap file, cache drive, where are your programs installed, etc...) for me to know where to even start with suggestions for you. I have v2 of CouchPotato working great on my system. Link to my full system specs in my sig. Interesting that v1 works for you. I used v1 previously on my current unRAID system (& tried it with the same results on 2 prior Windows systems). CouchPotata v1 would find & download movies just fine... but it never would rename them correctly. The download directory was named "movies" & no matter what file it found there, v1 renamed the file to "Movies, Aspirin and Vultures[2005]". If I downloaded multiple movies, it would keep overwriting "Movies, Aspirin and Vultures[2005]" with the newest download. I tried naming the "movie" directory other names & it still would overwrite the same file over & over. Luckily, v2 can rename things correctly for me. I am not in love with the interface of either version... but v2 works the way I expect it to (& as you can see I run multiple other programs with no conflicts).
  4. I paid around $2,000 for my Samsung 46" LED TV about 2-3 years ago. It is not a touch screen. This is a computer built into a TV with a touch screen. Price is high, but not unexpected for what it is.
  5. I have used several models of Cisco Linksys routers at home over the years. I also have a Cisco certification & use Cisco regularly in my profession (the higher end Cisco routers for business). However something they did recently gave me some concerns about Linksys. This "upgrade" would allow users to manage their router remotely through a Cisco web page. The catch is that to use the web page (or to even manage the router from that point on) required you to agree to some shady terms when creating your account with Cisco. Terms such as Cisco could monitor the traffic on your router. These terms upset lots of people & Cisco Linksys has now changed their terms to be less intrusive claiming it was a mistake. However, the less companies viewing my activities, the better.
  6. Which version of CouchPotato are you using? I never could get v1 to name my movies correctly. It would see the movie under a folder named movie & kept renaming every movie to "Movies, Aspirin and Vultures[2005]". However, v2 has worked flawlessly for me. Another bit of info you might want to add... how did you install CP (did you use a plugin? which one?). Influencer has a support thread for his plugins at http://lime-technology.com/forum/index.php?topic=21260.0 *Edit: I am running CP as root. Was more concerned with getting everything working first then will worry about making it more secure later (it is on a private LAN). I think I have seen discussions on permissions in Influencer's thread. Even if you are not using his plugin, the thread may provide the info you need concerning permissions.
  7. My most used media player is XBMC (which I voted for). I also use VLC (VideoLAN) from time to time. Mainly for things not in my library or to test if something is good enough quality for my library. Recently purchased a Raspberry Pi. I am putting OpenElec on it.

  9. Any ideas on how to keep this functionality (fan placement), but have it more secured & look a little nicer? The area around the controller cards was a little warm without a side case fan near it. The new back window has several holes over the PCI slots. I decided to reuse one of the side case fans from the original system to pull the air up & out. I removed the side case fan from its housing. Then I needed something to set it upon. I am still keeping an eye out for something better... but I did come up with something that is working for me for now... I took a clean, dry, cream cheese container & cut a hole in the bottom of it. I set the container upside down on the controller cards then put the side case fan with the vent pointing out on top of the container. Not as pretty / nice as the rest of the mods, but my case runs much quieter & just as cool (if not a little cooler).
  10. Originally, I planned to build a SFF cube sized server. Even had the name picked out for a cube case. Then came a deal I could not pass up, for this huge, 24 bay, 78lb beast through tamsolutions on eBay (topic of this post: http://lime-technology.com/forum/index.php?topic=20867.0). Here is how it looks after all my mods to it: Front: Back: Top down views: Unchanged: - sata cards - RAM ********************** Here are some stats & images of the server as it shipped to me: Case: 4U AIC RSC-4ED2 (modded greatly now) Motherboard: Supermicro X7DBE-X (unchanged) Processor: Intel 1.86Ghz Dual Core E5120 (updated to a faster CPU now) RAM: 4x Corsair 2GB 240-Pin ECC DDR2 667 PC2 5300 CM72FB2048-667/SD (8GB Total unchanged) Hard Drive: has internal 160GB IDE drive for OS, but no SATA hard drives in trays. Includes: Server and 3 power supplies. (removed) Controller Cards: 3x SUPERMICRO AOC-SAT2-MV8 (unchanged) - back - single CPU - top down - internal drive mount The side fans were not that loud, but the power supply fans & the 2 back Sunon 60mm fans were very loud (think jet engine). I do not have a basement or some closet under the stairs to hide this noise machine. So I knew I would want to make it quieter. Originally 1.86GHz single dual core CPU... hmm, I can make this faster easily enough Litlgi74 from avsforum posted this guide that helped me a great deal. From local hardware store, I bought this 19" x 29" platform truck. Initially used to move the heavy server into my room. Later, I removed the handle & use it to keep my server easily movable, in & out, from under a table. The first thing was to remove rack rails (though I kept the ears on & later wrapped my power button onto it). Then removed the internal drive mount & IDE cable; I am booting UnRAID from my USB flash drive, a DTMC/16GB Kingston DT Micro ***** Parts ordered ***** 1x 120mm Fan Wall bracket from Norco cases. 1x Back Window also from Norco cases. 2x SilenX 80mm fans 32 CFM / 15 dBA 3x Rosewill Hyperborea 120mm Case Fans 57.53 CFM / 16.05 dBA 1x SeaSonic X750 750W 80Plus Gold Power Supply 2x Intel 3Ghz Dual Core E5160 (4 cores total) 1x Rosewill thermal paste bottle Reusing the heatsink & CPU fan that came with the server, but need additional 1 of each for the new CPU (purchased from eBay): 1x Intel Socket 771 Copper Heatsink 1x Intel E30325-001 S771 Socket Xeon CPU Cooling Fan 1x package of Aleratec SATA Data Cable, 18in - 12 Pack to neaten the nest of cables (for the closer ports). 2x Brass standoffs - 15pack to raise the MB off the case bottom. 2x Self adhesive rubber feet applied to the bottom of the server to lift off the platform truck (better airflow). 1x Velcro cable wraps (because I dislike plastic zip ties) 1x Double-sided padded adhesive ********************** I removed the original CPU. Installed the 2 new 3GHz CPUs with the thermal paste, heatsinks & CPU fans. Tested, all good... started other mods. ******* Removal ******* Removed all the SATA cards & cables, the side case fans, the power supplies. Unscrewed all the motherboard screws (including those for the CPU/heatsinks). Removed lots of case screws to get the original back window plate & power supply enclosure to finally release (including some screws on the bottom of the case). Removed all the wires from the power supply enclosure with it. ********************** ****** Installation ****** Put the 120mm case fans onto the fan wall. Installed the rubber feet on the bottom of the server. Lined up the motherboard onto the bottom of the case & marked the holes with sharpie markers (holding up the new back window to see how it lined up). Removed motherboard, checked the marks, put the motherboard back on the case to verify the holes still lined up... all good, onto drilling. Borrowed a drill & drill bit that would drill through metal. Drilled the holes for the motherboard. Screwed in the brass standoffs (some I could do by hand easily, a couple were stubborn to go in). Screwed a second set of standoffs into the first ones to raise up the board to the height of 2 brass standoff risers. As Litlgi74 has in his post, the back window does not perfectly fit into this case... it needs a notch cut into it at the top (he has a picture of this). I used my swiss army knife's metal saw to do this as I did not have a drill attachment available. Screwed in the 80mm case fans to the back window. Removed the PCI slot covers from the slots where my SATA controller cards would be. Installed the adjusted back window & the motherboard. Everything lined up, YAY! I used some of the double sided adhesive on the back window instead of drilling more holes (was tired of drilling at this point). Screwed in the motherboard, the heatsinks (with new thermal paste) & added the CPU fans on top. Lined up & screwed the modular power supply to the back window. I have a small piece of cardboard under the back of the power supply to keep it level. Installed the SATA controller cards. Labelled both ends of all the cables (already had a label maker, so did not have to order this). Mainly to make things easier on me if I needed to troubleshoot anything in the future. Attached the SATA cables & power supply cables on the drives side of the case (nothing attached on the board or power supply). Lined up the fan wall with the fans attached. Put all the power supply cables & the SATA cables through as I wanted them & kept everything neat with the velcro ties. Used more double sided adhesive to attach the fan wall (want to get this together & working without more drilling). Attach the power supply cables to the power supply. Attach all the SATA cables to the controller cards. **********************
  11. You want UnRAID & IPMI to have separate IP addresses. ifconfig eth0 should be the IP for UnRAID. Change IPMI to something else using ipmicfg -m x.x.x.x then reboot. Hopefully you will be able to access UnRAID from the eth0 IP & the IPMI from the newly set IP.

  13. I think XBMC is great. There are only 2 things I wish it had that it does not have: 1) Slow motion. Slow motion is not something I use often & when I want it, I end up opening whatever video I am watching in VLC. People have asked for slow motion in XBMC forums & been told it has to do with the player that is used. 2) PVR functionality: watch & record live TV. This can be achieved through extra programs, details to be found at http://wiki.xbmc.org/index.php?title=HOW-TO:Watch_TV_in_XBMC. A lot of extra steps, but something I plan to setup for myself soon.
  14. One thing I wanted to mention about this schedule... if you are using a cache drive (if you don't use a cache drive, no need to change anything), the mover script is set to run daily at 3:40am. If your server is powered off during this time, the mover does not run. This would cause files to stay on your cache drive instead of moving to the parity protected portion of your data array, eventually filling the cache drive up. Remember to reschedule the mover time to run while the server is powered up.
  15. The go script is on your UnRAID flash drive under the config directory. From Windows, you can access it through \\tower\flash\config\go From UnRAID command line, you can access it at /boot/config/go Add the command "ethtool -s eth0 wol g" (without quotes) to the end of your go file.

  17. The link I provided above is the wiki page listed by SimpleFeatures main page, next to its Sleep button. It tells what to look for to see if your hardware is compatible (BIOS settings to check, etc...), a place to download a WOL program, how to setup a batch files using the WOL program, and more. Have you tried this? Did you get stuck somewhere along the way? Provide details to what you did & what happened if it was not what you expected...

  23. UnRAID user shares are created in the path "/mnt/user" (no 's' after user). For example, creating a share named "media" in the UnRAID web menu will create a share on the server at "/mnt/user/media" You can then create as many directories under a share as you like; ie. tv & movies directories at "/mnt/user/media/tv" & "/mnt/user/media/movies" Are you specifically asking if it can be "users" instead of "user"?
  24. The cache drive is a physical disk (hard drive), not volatile memory like RAM. If you power off the computer (or lose power), whatever is on the cache drive will still be there when you turn the computer on again (just like any other hard drive). Any data put on the cache drive will stay there until the mover script moves it off the cache drive onto one of your data drives. The mover script with default settings runs every night at 3:40am. You can change the time of the mover to be less or more often. Your data drives are protected by your parity drive. If something goes bad with a data drive, you can replace it & the parity drive will restore your information. The cache drive does not have the protection of the parity drive. If the cache drive dies, it takes all your info that was stored on the cache drive with it.   25. There is also a mover script that is default set to move data off the cache drive nightly at 3:40am. Mover times can be changed as you like to more or less often & different times. Also if you are using any data from the share when the mover is scheduled, it may not run. I had XBMC open on another computer using my media share (which was partially on data drives & partially on my cache drive) the first night & nothing moved. The second night with nothing open / using the share, the files moved from cache to data (with parity) successfully.
