  1. it's all working as it was since day one now. There has never been any updates for the esxi platform. Only thing that changed were items with unraid and the last change fixed it again. I am happy it's back Unraid runs perfectly in the esxi platform. Only thing that doesn't is running VM's in Unraid. For that I use esxi. All the dockers i have ever loaded work perfectly however I only use the plex docker now. Running Unraid in esxi I do loose the ability to see low level sensors such as motherboard stuff because esxi has control of them. But I don't need that stuff anyway as it's covered in other areas of esxi. Items like temp sensors on motherboard, chipset identification etc are all controlled by esxi. Just for fun I also did boot Unraid natively and bypassed the esxi booting process. Unraid worked perfectly and setup the unraid server for my hardware. I was able to see all the low level stuff including chipset etc.. unraid is just great stuff. Thanks again guys for working through this one.
  2. Anyway its working again Thanks for all the help and consideration of the issue. Mike
  3. Ahh ok great. if I go to the nvidia driver section and select linux there are 3 separate sections or maybe they are just filters of supported drivers. This would make it easier for sure
  4. I upgraded to 6.9.2 and it's working now. Yeah. There are differences in drivers. Not sure it warrants quadro, geforce and rtx version of the plugin or maybe a card selection area that downloads the correct linux driver. Just a thought
  5. I think this is an api problem with nvidia. I can validate that the hw transcoding is working in plex as I see the hw next to the stream. The quadro p2200 is seen by everything including unraid and the plex docker container. I can launch the plex docker terminal I can run nvidia-smi and it works there too. So I know the hardware and passthrough is working great to the docker container. The variables that are seen in nvidia-smi do update on the gpustats plugin. it's just not passing all it used to pass right now with null data for things like utilization, encode/decode %'s etc.. Like I said this busted in one of the multiple updates a week or 2 ago. There were several nvidia updates as well as gpustats. This may be nvidia driver issues with api. I added the nvidia-smi showing the process starting for transcoder but most of the data missing. I think there are a separate series of drivers for quadro than geforce or rtx drivers now @b3rs3rk @ich777
  6. I notice the supported memory clock isn't in the list: <supported_mem_clock> <value>5005 MHz</value> <supported_graphics_clock>1746 MHz</supported_graphics_clock>
  7. Dang this was working great until the flurry of 5 or so upgrades in a week about 3 weeks ago. I rolled all the way back to v455.45.01 and it is still broke in the same areas. Wonder what changed...

  9. Just wanted to say I am experiencing no data on my gpu stats plugin. Last time it did this after one of the updates you sent out I just uninstalled the gpustats and reinstalled it.. it started working after I selected nvidia. I run an nvidia quadro p2200 and it worked perfect before the flurry up daily updates. I rebooted the unraid server . I know the nvidia gpu is working because plex is smoking right along with a large buffering of video. the gpustats isn't updating most of the stats.. sometimes I see the load wiggle 1 % or so and or pci gen max go from 1 to 3 but that is the only thing that seems to update during use. Thanks for the great work. Makes owning unraid enjoyable
  10. Update smooth from unRaid system 6.9.0. Finished with no issue so far.
  11. All upgraded to 6.9. Only issue I had was the nvidia plugin used on 6.8 didn't work. I had to uninstall that and install the NEW nvidia driver from community apps. Worked great after reboot. Also had to do the same and remove / reinstall GPU statistics and reselect NVIDIA as the hardware type. Everything seems to be working great it looks like including my Plex Server Docker.
  12. I had a great experience with the trial and today I purchased the license Thanks for a great product and keep up the great work..
  13. Quick question? I get this is in fix common problems plugin "Your CPU is running constantly at 100% and will not throttle down when it's idle (to save heat / power). This is because there is currently no CPU Scaling Driver Installed. Seek assistance on the unRaid forums with this issue" CPU is not running at 100%. My 6.8.3 system is working I would say perfectly in my esxi.70 environment. Is this something to worry about and I am thinking it's probably related to the virtualization and cpu pass through stuff. I am pretty sure it's nothing serious I just wanted to see if I needed to do anything or even worry about it. As I said everything I wanted to do on UnRAID I am doing very well like my PLEX with P2200 gpu installation. VM's are having issues but I use ESXI for VM's so really I don't count that. The VM's say "Your hardware does not have Intel VT-x or AMD-V capability. This is required to create VMs in KVM. Please disable the VM function. " when I try to start it up. I have had no issue with PCIE pass through. I just think its all just cpu / bios related stuff not passing through. if there is a fix great but VM's run in esxi for me. Dockers seem to work perfect in this setting. great product will be purchasing my trail key shortly. Any thoughts and comments would be great and helpful.
  14. Add a cd rom to the unraid VM container and point to the locally stored plopkexec.iso. I will boot from the CD first and start plopk. plopk will find your unraid usb device.
  15. Cool didn't know there was an IPMI plugin. It seems you have plugin's for just about everything ..
  16. I have ESXI 7.0 working fine as well.. also passthru of graphics card, raid controller in IT mode, nvme drive all no issues
  17. Hey Guys, I just built a monster server for my home lab and I will also be running a plex server on it too. The hardware is basically a Supermicro X11SPM-TF mother board (C622 Chipset), Intel XEON Platinum 8260L (24 cores - 48 threads), 96gigs of ram, 80tb of drive space.. 40tb for VMWare ESXI 7.0 and 40tb for UnRAID, 1tb 970 pro nvme for UnRAID cache, Quadro P2200 graphics card and 3 860 Pro SSD's etc etc. Anyway, I am not getting cpu temps and it actually thinks I am running a different chipset see below: Model: Custom M/B: Intel Corporation 440BX Desktop Reference Platform Version None - s/n: None BIOS: Phoenix Technologies LTD Version 6.00. Dated: 12/09/2019 CPU: Intel® Xeon® Platinum 8260L CPU @ 2.30GHz HVM: Not Available IOMMU: Not Available Cache: 16 KiB, 16 KiB, 16 KiB, 16 KiB, 16 KiB, 16 KiB, 0 KiB, 0 KiB, 0 KiB, 0 KiB, 0 KiB, 0 KiB Memory: 12 GiB DRAM (max. installable capacity 13 GiB) Network: bond0: fault-tolerance (active-backup), mtu 1500 eth0: 10000 Mbps, full duplex, mtu 1500 Kernel: Linux 4.19.107-Unraid x86_64 OpenSSL: 1.1.1d Uptime: I am not getting any temps etc that would show for this motherboard. I wonder to I need to install a driver or ? This is my very first UnRaid Build and looking forward in using it. I can't believe it took 14.5 hours to setup parity on those drives Also it is not saying I have HVM or IOMMU capability but I am able to passthru just about anything I have wanted so far. the GPU, the IT mode raid card, the nvme drive etc without issue. Thank you for any thoughts and suggestions to put some polish on this baby.. Mike unraid-diagnostics-20200419-0215.zip
  18. Outstanding. I think I will setup a raid volume for esxi on motherboard. I have an m.2 nvme drive and an additional hba controller just for UnRaid I will use for unraid/plex/NAS. I think this will be the best. After researching UnRaid I like it and will use it from now on. This will be quite the step up from my WD PR2100 lol and I can finally get a lab that is useful. If something is off here feel free to point them out. I am an UnRaid newb but will be pro after this build
  19. I think I might of asked this wrong. I was looking to see if I don't need ESX at all? does the VM server that comes with UnRaid allow VMware .ova formats ? Or do I absolutely need esxi. I am going to stay with VMWare formats to keep consistent with what my company uses. On the last questions about the reason I was inquiring about the 5 year old posts because I was thinking there may have been major changes in UnRaid not vmware and wanted to see if the question was even relevant anymore. I have assumptions now after I have been reading more: I would have to use standard RAID that comes with the motherboard SATA configuration for ESXi Configuration. I would also have to install a 2nd HBA for the UnRaid configuration. Lets say I have 6 10tb disks. I would use 3 in raid 5 configuration from on board motherboard raid settings, I would then install the H310 hba card I purchased for UnRaid in IT Mode configuration and I would assign the other 3 disks to that hba for use with the UnRaid VM. I guess there would be nothing wrong in doing this without any degradation? Additionally, I will need graphics card passthrough for Plex as well as other items like usb etc. This community is awesome and when I get this down and working perfectly I will also participate and share my experience.
  20. I want to run VM's (mini lab), Plex and NAS stores on the new server I am building. I am trying to asses whether I need unraid as primary system or esxi / esx (thinking of purchasing license). I use fully delivered and configured .ova's for most of the VM's. Plex and the rest should be fine but the VM's are primary. I have never have used UnRaid before so I need help from you guru's in making good decisions here on approach. Can Unraid be a VM? I know I read some where it can but not supported. Also does the Unraid VM system load up .ova's? I am also thinking does that shoot the file system in the foot running unraid as a VM? I have a lot to learn incorporating unraid in this build so I need help. One of the reasons I am asking is most of the threads are 2015.. 5 years ago.. Things might be different now. Thanks for any thoughts. the hardware will be super huge so no issues with power and processing.
  21. Thanks a ton Hoopster. this process is as fun as usual when I take on a new project. I will give the ebay thing one last look and pick a direction. If it's ok I will keep the forums updated in case some more great ideas come.. Thank you again.
  22. Thanks again for all of the great help in insight. I spent the last 11 hours getting to know Unraid. I really like it. I get how the redundancy is handled now and it seems straight forward. I definitely need cache drives it looks like and would love to stay M.2 or SSD for sure. Now that I am confident about the OS and all of the plugin support etc.. I need to run VM's and of course my plex stuff. Are there any hardware limitations? I can build something using scaleable Xeon processors and 128gig ram etc without any issues. There are no platforms unraid will not work on ? Mike.
  23. hmm learning all the time some reason I was under the impression firmware raid was a given setup and can be used. Need to learn more about this OS and raid strategies used here. Digging into this now.
  24. Great. I appreciate all this experience your are sharing. I build PC's all the time but usually buy from Dell on servers. I notice you have the perc H310 equivalent in your profile. Are you not using onboard RAID? Thank you very much again. Looks like the ebay config you guys are using will be my choice. I was interested in your raid strategy with the H310.
  25. Thank you very much.. I was looking to stay at Micro ATX sizes because this one will be at my home instead of at my colo. Trying to keep this small (Physical Dimensions) but everything keeps growing haha . They only reason I was thinking desktop cpu was the higher single thread mhz but ECC is a good trade off in the form of value in processing. Ok so you think I can add the quadro J2000 graphics card to this build and it will be utilized correctly and support all transcoding properly? Again I very much appreciate you taking the time to get this UnRaid newb up to speed so I can get this going. I am liking the Unraid software for its graphical nature and the community seems to be magnificent so you will be adding me as a paid member shortly. I am just finalizing my hardware now.
