  1. I was able to format the original usb drive and restore to it. I did need to download my key and put it in the config folder, but my system is back up! Thank you!!! Now...can you also help me figure out why this has happend with 2 different USB devices in a 6 month period? 😬
  2. What does "rewriting it" mean? Just do a restore to the existing USB drive?
  3. Back in November, I went to do an update to my system, rebooted and the USB drive would not boot. No big deal, I download my backup and I'm up and running again. In February I do the same thing and the same thing happens. I didn't have time to troubleshoot it and just moved on. I went to install the latest version of Unraid today, and I lost ANOTHER USB drive. Now I can't replace my key because I've apparently done it too many times. I've reached out to support to get a replacement key, however there is clearly something wrong. The only thing I can read on the screen during the failed boots is: Contains a free cluster (2). Assuming EOF. FAT-fs (sda1): error, fat_get_cluster: invalid cluster chain (i_pos 1) FAT-fs (sda1): Filesystem has been set read-only mount: /boot: can't read superblock on /dev/sda1. dmesg(1) may have more information after failed mount system call. cannot mount /dev/sda1 - press ENTER key to reboot .... Attaching diagnostics from the Feb 11 restore point. tower-diagnostics-20240313-0850.zip
  4. Thanks for the response. I figured if I'm using the exact same cables with another 18TB seagate drive and it shows up, then it must be a bad drive. Just can't figure out how I got 3 in a row. ordered another one so we'll see if it continues.
  5. Thank you for that command. So what showed up was 10.6GiB in /tmp and then inside there was /transcode Seems like for some reason Plex left two 5GiB files in there. Restarted Plex and they went away. Thanks again.
  6. I tried running the dianostics and other recommendations on here but I'm having trouble understanding what to do with the info. Attaching diagnostics. Thanks in advance tower-diagnostics-20230514-1936.zip
  7. I had a drive start to make some terrible noises so I figured I would use it as an opportunity to get 2 new 18 TBs in my system and replace my 16TB parity drive. Bought 2 on amazon, I'm limited on space in my server so I put one in to preclear, no problem. Once it finished, took it out and put the second one in and it makes terrible sounds and never shows up in unraid. Exchange it for a replacement drive, that one doesn't make any terrible noises, but never shows up in unraid. I plug in the first 18TB drive and it shows up just fine so I try again and nothing. Return that drive and buy another one from Best Buy because, why not, and same exact issue. I'm using the exact same power and data connection that the first 18TB shows up on but I've gone through 3 other ones and none of them are appearing. Even though these are not shucked drives, I've tried the 3.3 volt trick with a molex adapter and also using tape but they never show up. I find it hard to believe I got 3 bad drives in a row but maybe I'm just that unlucky. Attaching diagnostics in case anyone sees something I'm missing. In this diag, both drives are plugged in. Thanks in advance! tower-diagnostics-20230512-1010.zip
  8. I'm sure this is answered somewhere and I just don't know how to put the right search terms together, so apologies for a redundant question... What's the proper way to make the gui available behind a reverse proxy? I have swag installed on it's own network so the only way I've figured out how to get to the controller is to enable Host access to custom networks. Otherwise it doesn't work. I would rather not do that as I know it's not that safe. The other thing I tried was to put the unifi-controller network into my custom proxy-net but then it couldn't talk to any of my devices. Kept trying to adopt them over and over. Appreciate any guidance on this one. Thanks
  9. Thank you so much for setting this up. I use your dockers for almost everything. I have an outdated docker for overseer that I was hoping I could bring my settings/data over into your docker. Is that possible? And how would I do that if it is? Thanks again.
  10. @Supershocker, if you wouldn't mind sharing, how did you force the upgrade? I don't see anything in the gui and wasn't sure how to proceed. Thanks!
  11. This worked. Thank you! Quick question. Can I reinstall the GPU-Statistics? I did have to make one other change in my BIOS and I'll record that here in case anyone else runs into this. Original problem: nvidia quadro p2000 stopped showing up in Nvidia Driver. "no devices were found" After following @ich777 instructions (quoted above) unraid would not boot. What I discovered is that by enabling Resizable BAR Support it would change boot mode to UEFI instead of legacy. I found this post that explained that I needed to turn off Secure Boot and I also needed to go into the USB drive and remove the hyphen from the EFI- folder. Once I did those 2 things, it booted back up and the graphics card was recognized. Thanks again for the help!
  12. Getting the "no devices were found" but not sure when it started. I know it used to work. I have a quadro p2000. Dug through this topic and found the solution from September: But it didn't fix it. Attaching diagnostics. Would greatly appreciate any help. Thank you so much. tower-diagnostics-20230201-0906.zip
  13. @DuzAwe, were you able to get gravity-sync working against 2 pihole docker containers? I'm really interested in getting this setup and I'm having the hardest time figuring it out. Thanks for any info you have.
  14. I have an unraid media server right now that won't post. I'm still troubleshooting but figured it might just be time to upgrade. Here is my current configuration. ASrock Z75 Pro 3 Intel Core i5-3570 32 GB DDR3 RAM LSI SAS 9207-8i Storage controller Nvidia Quadro P2000 Thermaltake Toughpower Grand 850W I use all 6 SATA ports on the motherboard and I have 4 variable speed fans. I was considering getting a motherboard that would support the same CPU and RAM but obviously if the problem lies with one of those components I'm wasting time. I run a typical plex stack with dockers for media download/management. I have a couple of one off dockers like Home Assistant and a Unifi Controller, but nothing that requires a lot. No VMs. A quick look at Newegg and I came across this guy: ASRock B365M Pro4 for $85 or does it make sense to get something that supports the Z390? MSI PRO Z390-A PRO for $130 2x8GB DDR4 RAM for $85. Do I need 32GB? I think I have 32 right now just because someone gave me some extra. And then CPU... Intel Core i5-9600K Coffee Lake 6-Core 3.7 GHz for $215. Guess $500 ain't bad considering my current setup has lasted several years. Would appreciate any feedback or recommendations on components. Thanks!!
  15. I finished watching something on Plex and when I was going to bed I noticed my unraid server fans were running on high. I went to take a look and I couldn't access any of the dockers. I'm thinking it might have something to do with sabnzbd unpacking something, but not sure. Attaching the diagnostic logs. Would greatly appreciate any insight someone might have. Also, wondering what I should do when this happens. I can open a Terminal. Is there a way to kill processes that are freezing things up? Should I just issue a reboot command? I noticed this in the processes showing higher CPU and RAM usage than other processes: nobody 13212 16.0 57.3 11181424 9232132 ? Sl 01:02 214:19 /usr/sbin/python3 /usr/lib/sabnzbd/SABnzbd.py --daemon --config-file /config --server 0.0.0.0:8080 --https 8090 Shares are accessible. Dockers are not. Some tools are working but some are not. Thanks again for any and all help. tower-diagnostics-20210131-2311.zip
  16. Thank you. That is useful. The one thing that is stopping me is the warning that says "All existing data on this device will be OVERWRITTEN when array is Started." Is there a checkbox or a setting I'm missing so that won't happen?
  17. My USB flash drive completely stopped working. Won't work in any computer I plug it in. I don't have a backup of my flash but I do have CA backup from earlier this month. I know which drive is the parity drive and which one is the cache but I have no idea what the rest of the drives were assigned to. My restore of the CA backup is in deep storage and will take several hours. Can I move forward by assigning the Parity Drive and then just assigning the data drives to any Disk slot? Or do I need to know which disk each one was assigned to? Thanks for any help.
  18. Looking for some guidance on how to troubleshoot this. I have a Windows 10 vm working great and super happy with it, however I recently brought up Quicken and discovered that it is extremely slow. Clicking on different accounts, adding entries, really doing anything within the application just freezes it. It eventually will respond but it takes 5-20 seconds. I'm not even sure how to start troubleshooting it so would greatly appreciate any guidance. Thanks.
  19. Not sure why, but changing my Network Type from Bridged to Custom: br0 fixed my issues. I was able to see that DNS was just not responding at all from the logs and using nslookup. So started playing with the network type and that's what fixed it for me.
  20. pihole just stopped working on me. I cannot figure out what my problem is. Fully uninstalled and reinstalled. Still not working. Doesn't resolve any DNS queries. Tried changing the servers it uses by editing the docker settings but still nothing. Where can I look for information on what's going on? Thanks.
  21. Cached drive disappeared. Moved it to a new SATA and PSU cable. Found it again. Claims to have CRC errors. I assume that means I should replace it. Can I get confirmation on that? I'm attaching my diagnostics to this post. Also, is there a way to protect yourself from drive failure with the xfs file format? other than backup and restore? Thanks. tower-diagnostics-20200602-2205.zip
  22. Well, that was harder than expected. When I ran the sas2flash commands I got a Failed to intialize PAL. Exiting program. Some more googling told me that I needed to boot to UEFI and after lots of digging and retrying, I eventually figured out that my ASRock z75 pro3 motherboard was capable of UEFI but that it was still using legacy. I'm still not clear how I set it to UEFI as I was trying different settings in the bios around the USB ports and drives. Eventually I found a command that asked to reset all the UEFI settings to default and I said go for it. Then I saw an option in my BIOS to "Launch EFI Shell from filesystem device. Attempts to Launch EFI Shell application (Shellx64.efi) from one of the available filesystem devices." Finding a full shell that worked was a whole other search but eventually found this one. Renamed it Shellx64.efi and put it on a non-bootable USB drive. And the USB had to be in a particular USB port on my motherboard for the bios to recognize it. Found that answer here. Anyways, wanted to record that for anyone else struggling. So the instructions I posted above would be altered to not create a bootable USB drive but just a regular MBR, FAT drive. Copy over those same files but you need to get the sas2flash.efi and that Shell_full.efi I linked in this post and make sure it's named whatever your bios needs it to be. I was able to run the commands, flash the controller card. I'm back online. Now what? Should I run SMART tests on the 6TB drives I thought were bad? Should I run some other read/write commands to really test them? Should I just create a share that only uses one of those drives and start read/write to it? How do I go about testing these drives before I put them in and start losing data? Thanks again! Really appreciate all the help.
  23. Thank you for the guidance. So quick google search puts this broadcom page at the top. And from what I've read on this site, people seem to be using this one: 9207-8i_Package_P20_IR_IT_Firmware_BIOS_for_MSDOS_Windows Which claims to be version 20.00.07.00. And then I found these instructions that I assume I alter for my make/model. Which to summarize: create bootable USB (Rufus helps) copy over the sas2flsh.exe, .bin and .rom files from the zip I downloaded from broadcom boot to the USB erase the flash with this command: SAS2FLSH.EXE -o -e 6 flash it with: sas2flsh -o -f xxxxxx.bin -b xxxxxxx.rom check that it's correct: sas2flsh -listall reboot Did I miss anything? Thanks again.
  24. Well I'll post it here and see what happens. Thanks again for the help. tower-diagnostics-20200519-2127.zip
  25. I assume by highlighting NEXT you mean I shouldn't post it in a reply here?
