  1. Old thread, I know. But I forgot about this and ran into the same problem after upgrading my memory yesterday. I wanted to test my new memory properly before booting UnRaid completely. For the life of me, I couldn't figure out why the PC kept rebooting when I chose the memtest option on the UnRaid boot menu. I thought to myself "Maybe that's an old entry in the menu and doesn't work anymore?" and just downloaded the new version from the website and tested from that. This brings up the point of my reply... Is there any particular reason why the UnRaid dev's haven't included the newer UEFI version of memtest onto the OS image? Unless it's a licensing thing, I don't see the harm. I would even argue that you could include BOTH versions, the UEFI and the CSM versions, unless it's a matter of storage space on the UnRaid image on the drive. Just curious. Seems like an unnecessary hurdle to have to change your BIOS over to an older legacy boot mode for RAM testing. If I recall, when you first create your ISO image for the flash drive, don't you have to pick the UEFI option? If that's the case, have it install the UEFI version of memtest if you select that option.
  2. When I run the "Fix Common Problems" plugin's extended test, I get a lot of files/folders saying the files may not be accessible due to wrong permissions. The settings this thread relate to have been changed in a later version, and mine doesn't match. What do I need to change to make it right? For reference... this is version 4.1.0.6175 of the linuxserver.io docker.
  3. I saved it! So I did some GOOGLE'ing and reading. Somebody mentioned in another thread that the libvert.img stores the xml for the VM. Since I hadn't rebooted, the VM itself was still on the drive. I just needed to rebuild the VM's XML. So, I took the libvert.img to my other computer and tried to open it up with no success. WinRAR and Windows both said the file was corrupted. BUT, the other thread user said he used Notepad++. So I figured I'd TRY it. Turns out, Notepad++, while showing a lot of JUNK binary data, DID manage to open the file. For me, (instead of line 1500 like the previous user) my domain entry started around 4500. I copied from <domain> to </domain> and pasted it into a a new VM using the custom template. It failed to start, something about missing a file or something. I edited the VM and just clicked the UPDATE button at the bottom. Maybe there was some missing pathway or something. All I know is, after I did that, the VM loaded right up and all my stuff is still there! So, thanks whoever it was that had a somewhat similar issue and gave me an idea of something to try. Love UnRaid! EDIT: Here's the thread and post that was most helpful to me...
  4. Yeah that's what I'm doing now. It's cool, OpenVPN client then open Unraid works. It's a bummer it stops as soon as I enable the IPVanish VPN. But honestly, MORE security is better than none so I can live with it.
  5. Hey guys! Need some help. I rebooted my server and noticed a VM wasn't starting. According to the log it was unable to find a USB drive. Makes sense, I edited the VM a week ago to ADD the USB stick to the VM, and now it's not there. So... I went to edit the VM to remove that entry. Still didn't fix it. Then I "THOUGHT" I clicked on EDIT again, but instead clicked on REMOVE. I was side tracked for a second and didn't realize what I did until it was too late. Now that VM is gone. Is there any way I can restore the VM or am I just SOL now? -> I've not rebooted UNRAID yet....
  6. Hey guys! I have an UnRaid server sitting behind a pfSense router. On the router, I have a dynamic DNS running that reports my ISP provide IP to a DNS entry (like blahblah.ddns.net). I also have my router setup with a VPN client with IPVANISH. As it is right now, I can remote access through the My Servers Plugin when I have the VPN off. However, once I turn the VPN on I can no longer access. It makes sense.. the IP address of my WAN changes from the ISP provided to that of the VPN. And it also makes sense that the VPN wouldn't be doing any kind of port 443 forwarding. Is there a way to set up My Servers to follow a dynamic DNS rather than a reported out IP address? If this is not possible, that's ok. I still have an OpenVPN SERVER running on the router, which I can use to get direct access regardless. It's just something I'd like to maybe suggest as a future feature.
  7. I discovered a typo bug a few weeks ago but forgot to mention it.. when you have the System Temps plugin running, and it's setup to show the cpu temp at the bottom of the Unraid screens; hovering the mouse over the temp says "Procesor" and not "Processor" (with 2 S's).
  8. Is it normal for the Calibre doctor to indicate on the Unraid Dashboard Screen that there is an active stream? Last night I noticed my server was running sluggish so I pulled up the webui. I noticed that my CPU usage on the server was 100% and not moving. Trying to figure out what was going on, I saw that my eBooks share had an active stream. I wasn't in there, and the only other person I gave access to was my brother so he could access my books. I texted him and he wasn't even home. UH OH! This immediately put me into panic mode. I disabled the docker (which throws up an execution error btw). That definitely fixed the 100% usage. After that was done, I saw the active stream disappear. I then went to edit the docker config and gave the GUAC_USER and GUAC_PASS a completely random login rather than the generic `abc`. After that, I re-enabled the docker. The webui never prompted for the username/password though, which I thought was odd. Also, almost immediately, the active stream appeared again. This now has me worried that some hacker has managed to gain access to that share and figured out the username/password to one of my remote access accounts. So I went into the Calibre server settings and removed my brother's account and changed the username/password to my account. Shut down and restarted the docker.. it STILL shows an active stream. So what gives? Is this normal/typical behavior? I posted about this in the Container sub-channel on the Unraid Discord last night but nobody responded. I'm really concerned here. If this is normal, that's fine, but if it's not..what do I do?! https://discord.com/channels/216281096667529216/780512072517025823/978527053538295818
  9. That totally makes sense to me. I typically use a VM and have FireFox open to multiple tabs like the Unraid MAIN tab, the Dockers tab, and various other running dockers. So if having these open for a long time causes problems, that makes a lot of sense to me.
  10. I'm having trouble accessing my Unassigned Devices. I have a Pro Licence, and have been able to access the drives listed in the plugin in the past. However, recently I've noticed I can't even see the drives anymore. I've tried a couple of things, like whitelisting my server in ABP and MalwareBytes, and using alternate browsers (I typically use FireFox or Chrome but Edge has the same results). The closest I can get is with my tablet, where I get "nothing" on the MAIN tab, but "something" on the DASHBOARD tab, where it at least shows the devices as "Dev 1", etc, but I can't access the files. This all started because I wanted to see how much storage was left on the drives. I'm not sure what else to do or try. The last thing I did with my array was add in the final 2x12tb drives. I currently use Unassigned Devices to hold a 1tb SSD for all my Plex App/Meta data. PLEX still works, so I know it's accessing. I just can't SEE it from an admin point of view. It's really disconcerting not being able to even see any stats. Anything I've missed? I actually just ran a scan using "Fix Common Problems" and it says and that I should report the diagnostics. Maybe it's related? kyber-diagnostics-20211216-1737.zip -------- EDIT: So I took the advice of the Fix Common Problems plugin and rebooted. Once, up, everything is displaying like it should. So my question now is, can somebody help me identify where my problem might be?
  11. Just updating. I did have a bit of a nuclear meltdown with my server. Read all about it here: https://forums.unraid.net/topic/107529-recent-troubles-shutting-downrebooting/ Turns out that 100% drive usage I reported a few posts ago was evil. I had my split-level set wrong for one of my shares. Unraid was stuck and being forced to write new files to that drive when it couldn't. Once I figured it out, I tried using Unbalance to move data off the drive and onto others. I thought I understood what was going on but it really started to screw up my Parity. I FIXED the split level WHILE Unbalance was running it's Scatter, so that caused some problems. I was also, at the same time, trying to combine multiple rar files for a tv show episode that was very large, and it was doing so on my Cache drive, WHILE the mover was running. At least I think that's what it was doing; Unbalance might have disabled the mover. In any case, I had a lot of things happening at once and Unraid choked. When I was done moving data around, and the drive was no longer full, I ran a Parity check and discovered a LOT of errors. Being computer smart, I thought I'd reboot and tried again. Turns out that was a bad thing to do too, as it causes Unraid to lose all of it's logs, and identifying problem Parity areas became a much longer and harder chore, not to mention the delay in the shutdown caused me to actually FORCE a power off because Unraid was frozen. Through the help of a few more knowledgeable users here, we did everything from changing the RAM speeds, to removing my 10G NIC, to doing multiple MEMTEST's in an effort to find out what happened. At the end of it all, I don't believe I've lost any data, but I certainly learned a lot more about how Unraid works.
  12. I installed an application called "CA Auto Turbo Write Mode". Is this something I should uninstall? It was a recommended addon from SpaceInvaderOne. Not knowing much about how the file transfer stuff works I just blindly installed it. Could this have created parity corruption as well? I'm grasping at straws here trying to figure out what happened, and have literally disabled EVERYTHING at this point.
  13. Ahhh... so a non-safe shutdown should be ON, but just scheduled checks should be OFF to prevent corruption. Got it! Thanks!
  14. Why would you want it to non-correct? I've seen this a few times.. Wouldn't fixing errors it finds be better than just reporting there are errors?
  15. Cool. I typically have my scheduled checks on the first of the month. Should I maybe do a scheduled check in a week from now to be safe?
  16. I've got about 2.5 hours left on this correcting parity check. 0 errors so far. Should I do another check after this to make sure it's still good, or would you think I'm good as it is (having done a non-correcting check then this correcting check) ?
  17. Yeah go figure. They called me in to work today so I’m not able to directly watch the check but I’ve been looking at it through My Servers off and on. So far so good. About 4.5 hours in and no errors yet (knock on wood).
  18. After passing all the RAM tests, I've ran another non-correcting parity check. It passed as well. Starting a regular check now.
  19. I'm back home now.. it says it's been running for about 3 hours. It's still in pass #2. So probably won't finish 4 passes for another few hours at least. So far, no issues though.
  20. Wow, it took about 20 minutes to get Memtest v9 to be fully up and ready to test. About 3 minutes of black screen, then like 2-3 minutes each line of it's pre-testing detection stuff. But I've got it up and running now. I left everything at default, which is 4 passes with the CPU using all cores in parallel. I'm going to go out to lunch. When I get back, if it's already completed I'll go back into the settings and set the pass to 99 or something so it will continue to run overnight. In a matter of like 2 minutes, it was already reporting like 48% of the first pass was completed lol. So far no errors.
  21. It should be, I only have 3 PCIe 3.0 slots, one is used by the P2200 video card and the other is the HBA. Prior to all this, I also had that 10 gig nic installed on a slot too. Removing it should have helped the bandwith.
  22. I actually thought that was a little slow, considering the controller is supposed to do 6 GB/s. I dunno, it might be a limitation of the backplane used in the case, or the drives themsevles.
  23. Ok sounds good. I'm off work today so I can spend time working on this. Next days off are Sunday and Monday, then a long stretch of working. Whatever I need to do I'm on it.
  24. Total bandwith is averaging 3.2 GB/s. Each disk is hitting around 155.5 MB/s. When you say use 2 spare disks.. you mean a parity and a data right? If it comes to that, I would actually have to BUY some drives. I've been upgrading my drives to 12tb and have been giving my lower capacity drives to my brother, so I have no spares.
