  1. With unRAID 6.4, containers now can be assigned their own IP. Is it possible for the container to get the IP from DHCP instead of statically assigned?
  2. My Unifi 5.5.5 docker app on unRAID is showing an update is available. Is it safe to update? I don't see any reference on the first post regarding the new update. Update: I successfully updated the UniFi docker app to 5.5.19 and restored my settings.
  3. My docker.img file is on an unassigned device. Will UD create the mount point prior to Docker loading when the server is restarted?
  4. How do I create an SMB share from an unassigned device where no credential is required? Can I control the SMB attributes like how I can do it in the smb-extra.conf file? Basically it would be a public share. I tried it not specifying a username or password, but I am getting prompted to enter a credential when I try accessing the share from a Windows 10 machine. I need to be able to specify SMB attributes like: browseable, guest ok, writeable, read only, etc... Edit: I figured out that I still had to maintain my smb-extra.conf file external to UD. I thought UD would allow me to define SMB shares, but it only defaults to the mount point name and basic SMB security.
  5. What mount point are you currently attaching to? If it's not /mnt/disks/* then you won't be able to use UD. They are currently mount to /mnt. I have no /mnt/disks on my server. I am also using the smb-extra.conf to share the mounted drives. I would like to use UD, and so does UD require me to make a /mnt/disks and then mount my unassigned drives at that location? Hopefully I can reconfigure the Windows VM to use the new mount points.
  6. I would like to use this plugin to manage my unassigned devices. Currently my unassigned devices are mounted and shared via my go script. If I install this plugin, will it automatically recognize my current mounted and shared unassigned devices? Or should I remove the commands in the go script first, reboot, and then install this plugin to setup the unassigned devices with the same mount points and share names as in go script? My windows VM is using the unassigned devices and so I need them to be setup exactly like how my go script is doing it.
  7. So I upgraded unRAID from V6.1.9 to 6.2.3. Then I deleted the docker.img and reinstall UniFi from the Community App Previous Apps. Now I have the newest Unifi running, but all my settings were lost. Can someone verify that all host port docker settings are the same between Unifi V 5.07 and 5.2.9? My main problem is that my AP is on a different subnet and now the controller cannot detect it. With the previous version, the controller was able to detect my AP on the different subnet. I do have the DHCP option 43 to inform the AP that the controller is on my unRAID server IP. I can't understand why my controller does not detect my AP. Do I need to reboot my AP?
  8. Ok I found the FAQ where it says to delete the docker.img and recreate it and then reinstall the app throught the Community Application's Previous Apps section. This is Greek to me since I have not touch Docker in a long time. Can someone point me to how to delete the docker.img? Do I do it at the command line? Edit: Never mind, I found in the release notes how to go about fixing the problem. Thanks.
  9. Can you give the link to where I can fix this error? I am reading the Docker FAQ, but have not found the actual solution to resolve this error.
  10. Thanks dmacias for the explanation. BTW, excellent work on the plugin. I have not been able to reproduce the invalid server error. I noticed that if I toggle between the manual and auto setting for server on the settings page, my preferred server is sometime on the list and sometime not on the list. My preferred server ID is 6285. I have noticed that speedtest.net in the browser is really susceptible when you are testing gigabit connections. At that bandwidth, things like browser and operating system compatibility starts to alter the results. For example, on Windows 10, Chrome does not appears to be optimized to achieve true gigabit on the speed tests, whereas Microsoft Edge has no problem. On Windows 7, Chrome yields the same results as IE. I was hoping there was a CLI version of speedtest.net that can truly test gigabit connections using sockets to eliminate the browser and HTML from the equation. All test sites that only uses HTML5 cannot correctly test the gigabit speed.
  11. That is what I am doing. But my nearest server would disappear from that list. Then if I pick another server and run a speed test and go back to the settings page, my nearest server would show up on the list again. I would pick it, run a speed test and all would be fine. Until I run another speed test and I get the message invalid server id. If I run the speed test at the command line: 1. Can I specify an actual server id? 2. Can I force it to use sockets just like the current speedtest.net? I have symmetrial gigabit and the plugin version is off by 100-200Mbps.
  12. My preferred server keeps on disappearing between runs. Is there a way to just filter the server lists down to a zipcode or to manually enter in a server ID using the plugin? I have not read enough to look into the CLI option.
  13. So this will be my 3rd time posting a bug for the cache_dirs plugin and I hope this time I am posting in the correct thread. I just installed the cache_dirs v1.6.9 plugin for unRAID V6.0.1. When I try to include 4 directories and press Apply, the first directory gets unchecked/dropped. So the result is that cached_dirs only caches 3 out of the four. My directories are named as follows: Asia, Movies, PBN, Shows To include the first directory, Asia, I have to use the User Defined options of -i Asia.
  14. In running this script in the fullauto mode my lowest was 55.6 MB/s and the highest was 57.2 MB/s. The Bang for the Buck is 56.7 MB/s and the un-throttled is 57.2 MB/s. Does this mean on my system, these tunables do not make a big difference? I will pay attention to what is the speed of my current settings at the next parity check.

  16. Just found this topic and was curious as to what is the difference between the speeds mentioned here and the speed from this command: hdparm -tT /dev/sda
  17. On Windows 10, use local account instead of a Microsoft account. If your Windows 10 local account name and password matches that of your unRAID username and password, then pass-through authentication is perform and you would not need to perform a login to access SMB shares. To switch your Windows 10 login from a Microsoft Live account to a local account: Start->Settings->Accounts->Disconnect My Microsoft Account I don't know what ramifications this will have for you if you use Microsoft online services like One Drive and Apps since I have always install Windows 8 & 10 with local accounts because none of Microsoft live apps are that useful to me. Edit: A Microsoft Live account is an e-mail account registered with Microsoft. A local account is just a username of your choosing.
  18. I missed the voting because I don't come to the forum too often since unRAID never gives me problem. However, I have used Spin Up Groups since my very first unRAID server. Spin up groups elminate lag and timeouts from application when the pause for disks to spin up takes too long. If it wasn't for Spin Up Groups, I would have never gone beyond the trial license since the delay was a deal breaker and having the disks constantly spinning was also a deal breaker.
  19. Here is my directory structure that I am caching: Media |_____Movies |_____Shows |_____Pictures |_____Videos Command I am invoking: /boot/cache_dirs -d 3 -m 3 -M 5 -p 10 -w -i "Media" It is working when I browse starting from the Media share. However, I also have shares, via smb-extra.conf, that points directly to the sub-folders. It appears that when I start browsing from the sub-folder shares, the directory cache is by-passed. Do I also have to add the -i "Movies", -i "Shows", -i "Pictures", and - i "Videos" if I plan to map to the sub-folder shares?
  20. Attached is my first two ever PreClear outputs of a Seagate ST31000520AS Barracuda LP 1TB (Preclear sdj.txt) and WD 10EADS Caviar Green 1TB (PreClear sdk.txt). I think everything looks OK, please review to see if I am interpreting the files correctly. There is one SMART Unknown_Attribute (Vendor ID # 184) with a Failing_Now in PreClear sdj.txt! Should I be concerned? The PreClear sdk.txt has a message of "Not in smartctl database". Should I be concern? The /tmp/read_speedsdj file says 57.8 MB/s and /tmp/read_speedsdk says 41.0 MB/s. Is this the average read throughput? How can I get it to be higher? The second reading is really low and this is on the Syba SD-PCXSA2-2E2R Sil3124 base PCI-X 64-bit 133MHz SATA controller. 21. Will this work for the SuperMicro X7SBE?
  22. @starcat, check out the GELID Solutions FN-PX12-15 120mm Case Fan with Intelligent PWM. I think I may get this fan to replace the 120mm fans that will be included in the Norco 4220 or 4224 case. The fan comes recommended in the AVS HTPC forum. Although I will be locating the server in a utility closet in the basement, on side of the closet happens to be my entertainment rack for my home theater. So a loud server will definitely be heard just like a loud HTPC.
  23. So for someone who is in the process of building a server using the X7SBE server board, would it be best to buy 4-pin fans and configure it with the Bios? Any suggestion of quality low noise 4-pin fans?
  24. Starcat, I am rooting for you to get this figured out and working so that I can enable this feature too. Just curious, wouldn't you need a 4-pin fan to enable the 4-pin settings? I hope the new Norco 120mm fans come with a 4-pin connector.
