  1. I don't recall ever seeing this card for a cheaper price that the normal Superbiiz price. An extra $10 off is a nice bonus. Purchased both mine from than and have no issue shopping there.
  2. I want to swap the parity drive in my primary server with a data drive from my secondary server (I'm almost done getting all data off this drive). Drives are the same size, just different speed and the secondary server has better airflow for cooling. I know I'll have to recalc parity on the primary server but am wondering what the quickest way to accomplish this swap considering I know the drives are good and don't need to be burnt in. I'm sure it involves preclear but am not exactly sure what parts of it I will need to do and what I can skip. I think it's the "-n" option I want to use?
  3. DAMN! Just ordered two yesterday for $10 more and they already shipped (can't cancel).
  4. I just don't know what to do. I want to pick up more drives for my primary server (see sig) and I'm very tempted to go with these 3TB ones. I'm just not sure I want to put it on a "beta" version of the software. I have been running my secondary server on the beta versions for months without issues and my gut tells me it's very unlikely I'd have problems but still... I just don't know. I'd hate to fill the case with 2TB drives and no hope of expansion (except replacing 2TB drives). What to do? Does anyone have experience using a similar setup with 3TB drives.
  5. I'm pretty much right there with you. I use 5.0 on one production server where I'm willing to take the risk (without any issues); however, I'm not willing to take the risk on my second server which is where I'm constantly consuming large amounts of storage.
  6. I'm no expert on this case - just got mine yesterday (latest rev) but here are a few things I discovered. 1. If you don't like the constant sound of a jet taking off then the fans in the rear HAVE to be replaced. In Raj I trust so I went with the recommended ARCTIC COOLING ACF8 Pro 2. The fans in the middle have a quick release which will come in VERY handy when trying to plug in all the power connectors. I of course learned this after the fact. 3. These would probably be much easier to plug into the drive back-planes instead of the much more bulky plugs/cables on the PSU (Corsair TX750v2 for me). http://www.ipcdirect.net/servlet/Detail?no=113. 4. Not being able to complete the build because you forgot to order the Mini SAS cables when you have everything else sucks! I'm not really sure what to do about the fans in the middle yet. First, they are not that loud to me. Second, I'm starting with 18 drives and plan on more very soon so I don't want to sacrifice any airflow/cooling.
  7. nice find! If I didn't already have two precleared 2tb drives just waiting for Newegg to put the Norco 4224 on sale I'd probably have to jump on this.
  8. Ok so if you rip to a full bluray structure how do you play it back? Does your Dune or Popcorn hour play a bluray structure? For most things I will probably just rip to a single M2TS for a few where we want access to deleted scenes, commentary ect I would like to be able to have that option without having to go locate a disk (and simplicity for the wife and kid) as I no longer like the look of a full dvd library in the living room. Too many disks, too many shelves, looks like too much clutter. In an ideal world I would love to rip them, box them and store them. The Popcorn Hour C-200 will play the play a blu-ray structure. The A-200 will play the largest M2TS file in the blu-ray structure which is usually OK, but for branching discs is problematic. I use ClownBD to strip everything but the movie with the audio / subtitle tracks I want. The result is a single M2TS file still in the blue-ray structure. Even the branching discs play perfectly on my A-200 this way plus I save a good amount of disc space by chopping out things I don't care about.
  9. I purchased that $20 C2SEE MB and I don't think it was a mistake. I just checked my receipt and it was $54.99 - $35 due to a promo code.
  10. I can't speak for anyone else but what really irritates me in this type of situation that at they are not honest. Instead of saying it was a pricing mistake and they will not honor it they make up some BS excuse.
  11. The biggest change is for the scope AR. Other than that it's a handful of minor little things like colors, more genres, top 250 in genres, bigger space for description & actors, etc. You can see it here: http://www.networkedmediatank.com/showthread.php?tid=25534&pid=465930#pid465930 I'll gladly share it, in fact I think I have a link to it in that thread a bit further down. I didn't update the TV screens for the scope screen though. Right now I'm playing with the Eversion skin and I'm fairly certain that I'll use this going forward.
  12. Popcorn hour C-200 is supposed to handle full blu-ray rips.
  13. is the C2SEE/SEA one that works well for this setup?
  14. No. However my requirements may be rather simple. I just play ripped DVD's and Blu-ray's (in their native folder format). No issues with any of the audio formats. One thing to be aware of though - unlike the c-200 the A-200 does not have "full" blu-ray support . It plays the largest file on the disc which in the case of a branching disc is usually problematic. I use clown_BD to strip everything but the movie with audio/subs I want and it creates a single M2TS file so this is not a problem for me.
  15. Popcorn hour A-200 with my own customized 2.35 YAMJ Aeon skin - I LOVE it!
  16. Yes, but you would need at least two of them - one for parity and one for data.
  17. That is when checking parity on the entire array
  18. Other than checking parity it's fairly rare for more than a couple to be spinning but when they are all going one or two will top out at 41-42 and the rest will be in the high 30's.
  19. I currently have an array with 16 7K2000 drives. These are 7,200RPM drives but Hitachi shows the power at 2.0 and not three like has been suggested here for faster drives (should I believe Hitachi?). I'm getting close to needing more space so I'm looking to replace the Antec case/PSU with a Norco 4224 and have every intent to max it out with 24 drives as soon as unraid supports that many. I'm waiting for the next great sale on the 5K3000 drives and am trying to figure out the power requirements for the 4224 loaded with all these drives. I'm leaning towards the CORSAIR CMPSU-750TX (http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16817139006). With a single 60A rail it seems that this should do just fine, no? Also could someone please clue me in on the difference between their normal PSU and the enthusiast line such as this: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16817139021 It looks like it's justa $5 difference but I'd like to understand what the $5 gets you.
  20. Thank you. I downloaded the newest one from the preclear thread but as it was running I thought something was off since it did not show the status in unmenu. Turns out I had the old one too and when I ran it that's the one that ran. Running it again with 1.1 now, hopefully with better results.
  21. Very useful! This Monoprice power cable works great in this setup - just use one per Scythe assembly. You can get the fan and all four drives connected with the power connector fed through to the other (hidden) side of the case. Make it nice and clean. http://www.monoprice.com/products/product.asp?c_id=102&cp_id=10226&cs_id=1022604&p_id=5188&seq=1&format=2 I had a nice mess with all 18 inch cables but didn't really want to buy all new cables. I'm glad i did thouhg -with the 10 inch ones it cleans up really nice.
  22. Figured it's time to post some pics of my rig (Heavilly influenced by neilt0 http://lime-technology.com/forum/index.php?topic=2031.msg34915#msg34915) I REALLY like this Antec Twelve Hundred case and these Scythe hard drive stabilizers are just incredible for $9. With this case I figured I might as well go for the power supply made for the it so I'm using the Antec 850. Even ordered a fourth hard drive enclosure from Antec to get the 4th front fan with a knob (not switch) and filter - for $25 it was worth it. Power and sata cables came from monoprice (started with 18 inch sata cables which were WAY too long and then got 10 inch for all but the top drives - much better)
