  1. Any chance of getting Krypton built? I know its only alpha but wanted to start playing.
  2. Correct me if I'm wrong as I have used the open files plugin very little. But it is not accessible after starting the stop process. Now one could go to the plugin first but that's still not the work flow a normal user would do. Now I understand that the open files plugin is good for troubleshooting but if your array usually shuts down properly then you won't realize you have a problem till you hit stop and get stuck on unmounting at which time you are then locked out of getting to the open files plugin. All I know is when I get stuck on that loop the only safe way out is the powerdown script and if memory severs me correctly it has to initiated at the local terminal because you loose Lan connectivity (I could be wrong). 3. ..... Unmounting........ Unmounting..... Unmounting. That is a problem seen since I started using unraid. I know it means a file is open or what have you but this follows the line of what bubbaQ is mentioning. No UI after hitting that button and no easy way to fix it. Thankfully the powerdown script will force a stop but also cause a reboot..... Hopefully this all can be improved. Sent from my SM-N900W8 using Tapatalk
  4. Really? I just set this up last night with reverse proxy. Working fine for me. One thing to note is your url base can NOT be /requests. It can be /request though. Sent from my SM-N900W8 using Tapatalk
  5. I've been interested in the core as well. I like the idea of android and openelec on the same box. I also have an intel ion htpc which has be solid for many years. I got a friend on the intel nuc a few years ago and that thing is really solid and fast and I like having a x86 based machine.
  6. Any chance adding dated backups in Appdata Backup to the white board? Not to be pushy just wanted to make sure it made it to the to do list.
  7. Fair point squid. Having a proper backup solution for the config folders is something I've wanted since v5 and this is finally looks to be a good solution. I know its possible via scripts but a nicely setup plugin is more polished. Thanks for doing this. That would be good enough for me. I could either manually delete old backups or find a way via script to purge old backups. Thanks!
  8. Going to try out the backup feature on the test server soon. Squid, I know you mentioned you would not support backup sets in the alpha build post. Does that mean you don't ever plan to support this or just not now/yet? I see you also mentioned it is possible via scripts, admittedly I'm not one to be able to create such a script. Could you provide an example script if this will be the only way possible to do backup sets. Personally this is really important to me now that dockers auto-update themselves, I've already had an update cause issues and was lucky I had a manually created backup that wasn't too out of date. I was hoping for more of a snapshot setup. For example, do a full backup once a week keeping 4 backups, overwriting the oldest. Hopefully there would be a way that only changed files are copied or each backup will take a as long as the initial backup which isn't a big deal but would rather not have plex offline for long periods of time. Thanks for all your work!
  9. In my experience, and admittedly it was short (though I do have emby installed at a relatives place), emby didn't feel polished. I can't give any specific reasons unfortunately. Not bashing emby and I think is a great project. Thanks mr-hexen!
  10. This just is not true. Perhaps I'm not reading that right or you worded it incorrectly but Plex is available as a standalone "appliance" like install, infact there are more than 2 projects for this. Last time I checked, which admittedly was about a year or so ago, there was a project just starting to offer an appliance like linux install but it wasn't really ready for prime time. So I guess that rightfully has changed. I'll edit my post. Mind throwing up the links? A bit of googling got me Plex for Openelec, is that what you were referring to? Didn't seem to find much of a site for it but this is what I found: http://www.cuttingcords.com/home/2015/1/2/turning-a-chromebox-into-a-full-fledged-plex-home-theater-client
  11. A few things I've observed while using the various plugins and software. Emby/ plugin for kodi Pros: -Server/client -Clients can be on any version of emby -Transcoding (never actually used this) -Management of the media inside on the emby database is easy via the web interface (neither plex nor kodi have this type of management) Cons: -If clients are off then will need to sync on start up to popular new content, slower the device the longer that takes -Honestly didn't use it long enough to find anymore cons due the the fact the above con being a deal breaker for me Kodi with mysql and headless Kodi Pros: -Everything is done on the server (like the server/client ability of the other 2 options) full database is kept on the server and updated on the server. Installing a new kodi devices and having the library setup on that device is the fastest of all options. Edit the advancedsettings.xml file with the location of the mysql database and the library is instantly available. -Synced watched and pause/resume status between devices -Any library update is shown immediately when a client device is turned on no syncing needed. Personally this is a must for me and in my opinion a must if you turn off your devices. Cons: -No transcoding -Can't play on closed source devices, chromecast, smart tv, game console etc. Plex Pro: -The best option for accessing your media from outside of your lan -Apps/software is available for most every close sourced device you would want it on and of course will run on anything kodi will (this is a blanket statement and might not be 100% true) There apparently is plex for openelec, I have never tried this. I'm more familiar with openelec Kodi. Either way "appliance like" installs is what I prefer, very hard to break. -Easy to use, gui is fairly similar between devices. -Will transcode to make sure the file will pay on any device Cons: -No customization at all -Kodi has more functions as a media center (though I haven't used their windows/mac software) -Not as easy to manages your media inside of the database -Basically no plugins or ability to add functionality (there is some but compared to kodi its not in the same league) -Transcoding can be a con (high server load) -I think there is more but that's the main stuff. PlexKodiConnect and plexbmc (Kodi plugins) Plexbmc is an addon/plugin and functions as one, accessible via addons in kodi. Not a good solution for main media watching be its worth mention due to being useful as a backup or accessing a remote plex server. PlexKodiConnect, I haven't spent enough time with it to give and real impressions other then its still pretty early. I couldn't actually get any version before the latest to work. PlexKodiConnect works like the emby plugins for kodi. It syncs the database to each client. Personally I think PlexKodiConnect has a chance to become really useful. The general consonances you'll find around the internet is Kodi is a better local media player and plex is the go to media player for playing media outside your lan and for devices you can't run kodi on. You'll see a lot of users run both kodi (usually with mysql and headless) and plex. Combining PlexKodiConnect and kodi seems to be the best of both worlds. Sever side central database, transcoding to remote clients and devices that can't directly stream the file format and the Kodi front end for the best local media experience. Additional it also adds/allows for multiple users (yes kodi can do this but a separate db is needed for each user) and watch status will be synced between kodi and plex because kddi is using the plex database. BTW danioj, PlexKodiConnect does support direct play and does support resume according the the OP in this thread: https://forums.plex.tv/discussion/210023/plexkodiconnect-supercharge-your-plex-kodi-connection#latest
  12. Fyi, I stumbled across the fact that there is also a plex requests channel available for plex. To be honest I haven't used this docker or that channel much to compare the two and each will have its advantages and disadvantages. But it might be helpful to some. One advantage, based on the last few posts, is you don't need apache/ngix or duckdns/port forwarding. And all users have access to it directly inside of plex. Sent from my SM-N900W8 using Tapatalk
  13. I've done this setup before. Actually currently have a setup similar. Machine 1 has data, machine 2 has unassigned devices plugin with machine 1's smb shares mounted. Also have data on machine 2 and everything happily coexistence in plex. Sent from my SM-N900W8 using Tapatalk
  14. Did you manage to get the 10gbe nic's to have a fixed IP so they can be directly connected to another machine?
  15. Interested in something similar. But I have no knowledge on the matter so please keep us updated on how this works out.
  16. I've never tried this, so can't guarantee anything. Manually edit your sensors.conf (/boot/config/plugins/dynamix.system.temp/sensors.conf), and add the line "compute temp9 (@-30),(@+30)" just below the line with the faulty temp. Replace temp9 with your raw temp name. I don't know, but you may need to reboot. For example, # sensors chip "acpitz-virtual-0" label "temp1" "CPU Temp" compute temp1 (@-30),(@+30) chip "k8temp-pci-00c3" label "temp1" "MB Temp" For more info, see the following links - http://linux.die.net/man/5/sensors.conf https://www.opennet.ru/man.shtml?topic=sensors.conf&category=5 Finally got a chance to try this out. Works perfectly! Thanks Rob!
  17. "bunch of features no one saw coming" As much as I love that unraid is improving and more features will be added. Knowing what an update will hold is important. It's one thing to have extended delays of a release. that I can understand or more just except. But having no idea what features are planned to be in or are in an update and no idea when it will be released is enough mystery to actually be annoying. It's very help to know whats coming. This way users can plan their future use of unraid. Prepare themselves for dual parity, this is one of the few features that it looks like we can expect in 6.2. But other examples are that it looks like IGD will be usable in the near future, if users would know what release support is expected then user may hold off on purchasing or setting up a VM with discrete GPU. Another is, if we know we can expect an updated openelec VM maybe users will hold off on for the official limetech image as apposed to try to install the version from openelec. I know those weren't great examples but the point is. Know whats planned (even if its not delivered)/ having a road map keeps the users aware of whats going on and allows them to save time, money and aggravation. It's pretty annoying spending time and money getting a feature to work and finding out if you just waited a few weeks there would be a better and possibly cheaper way. I am happy that we are getting maintenance releases though.
  18. You're a machine .... and you're doing a great job supporting this plugin! 100% Agree! I've also noticed that if you add many NFS shares in a row they will eventually stop exporting them correctly. I'll have to play around to recreate the problem. But I did find out a reboot corrects this. So for example, if you are setting up a bunch of NFS shares, adding them one by one while the array is up seems to cause them not to work properly. Easy solution is to setup all the shares you want at once, set them to auto mount and reboot. When starting the array all get mounted and exported correctly.
  19. Close the dialog and open it again. It should then refresh. I am seeing this behavior and am working on it. I had tried that a couple times but apparently not enough. Took about 3/4 times for them to show up the first time. Showed up the first time every time after that. But it looks like I'm still having a problem mounting shares as I reported. I've removed the plugin and rebooted the server, no change. EDIT I actually didn't realize that they actually get mounted correctly, even in previous versions. But they still look to be mounted together and are tied together in the gui. If I mount one it actually mounts both.
  20. UD Doesn't load NFS shares when trying to add a NFS mount point as of 2016.03.01a. (click load shares and the box refreshes with nothing) 2016.02.27 works on another machine. Is there away to roll back plugins?
  21. Yeah it took me a while to figure out that's where adding NFS shares was. But I didn't want to bring it up
  22. Found a bug with NFS shares with spaces. To reproduce add two shares with similar names, example: //192.168.1.1/Movies //192.168.1.1/Movies - other They will get mounted together and be shown like this: /mnt/disks/192.168.1.1_Movies_-_other /mnt/disks/192.168.1.1_Movies
  23. Thanks for looking into this and the link to that article Gary. What I took away from that article is that I would want to use balance-alb which doesn't require the use of a switch. Of course a managed switch would be the obvious solution. But another scenario could be the use 10Gbe cards. This could also apply to wanting a fast link between two servers without the need to buy a 10Gbe switch. I bring this up as I also have a few 10Gbe cards laying around and the idea of a fast link between to servers without the need of a switch may appeal to others. And yes Gary, moving my drives to the new server is a logical approach. I'm not concerned about the overhead of managing the array hurting performance on the server. But for various reasons, some reasons better then other I want to keep the setup as is. Space is one reason. If this isn't possible or is more difficult then its worth I'll just drop the idea. But like you said its electronically possible just not sure if unraid would support this type of configuration. And from my limited reading thus far that configuration would be balance-alb.
  24. What game would actually take advantage of all that power anyhow?
