Btw I understand this fully. Iv states multiple times I'm not blaming the developer. I said it's more an unriad as company and sensorship which is not only illegal but is currently being pursuid by the courts in multiple levels of monopolies.

Microsoft, Apple and Google all add/remove things in their OS to insure security and safety and can/will make old apps obsolete if they are not updated to the newest release. You are not being charged to update your OS to a newer version and will get all the benefits of the update as well.

You have stated you have reasons for not updating and seeing there is no upside for staying with an an older release other than a personal choice isn't a valid reason for you to badger a Developer to go out of their way to accommodate you.

Well, Im in the process of removing 4 3gb drives that now have reached EOL with over 7 years of operation. I'm replacing them with 2 10gb drives instead and really would like this built in even if it would take a long time. Doing it manually is just such a pain :)

Yes its a pain, but if you remember the unRAID 4.7 days we had to run Pre-Clear on drives that took days simply because there was no mechanism to put in a disk and have unRAID do it for us and if we did skip the Preclear our array would be unavailable to us for many many hours.

All we can do is put in requests and work towards the solution and in the end new users or if we stay around long enough will benefit from the new addons. ;)

  3. Don't fret its pretty easy once you get the jist of things.

FYI you can use a Plugin called UnassignedDevices to read data off drives and then copy/move theme to your array. However if your using a JBOD it can't read that, but it can read NTFS.

I like to think of the parity drives like such

    DIsk1+Disk2=Parity

    1+1=2

Loose a disk? Parity knows the answer so it can help rebuild the lost data

    1+?=2

  4. So if we are running 6.9-beta35 and upgrade to 6.9-RC1 and have the Nvidia plugin set to auto update in the Plugin do we just update to RC1 and the plugin update takes care of the rest or do we have to do anything else?

I'm running a GTX1050TI just for the record.

  5. There are no dumb questions here. Even if you ask a question that might seem dumb to you, it very well might solve somebody else's problem later when they do a search.

As a matter of fact I've never personally encountered what your asking so now I'm intrigued and your educating me. ;)

  6. Installed 32GB of Ram at 1866MHZ

Swapped out my Xeon for an I7-4790K that I found on Ebay for $120

    Dropped in a GTX-1050Ti

The reasons I swapped out the above was son is upgrading his Gamming Machine and I figured it was easier to recycle the GTX-1050Ti into something vs putting it in a box and having it collect dust. He picked up a GTX-1660Ti and some faster Ram so I took that too.

Now with the Faster Processor I'm noticing the system seems snappier and using Nvidia drivers Transcoding's are a breeze using the GPU. Before I noticed with my Xeon 1220 my processor would hit around 30-50% with some easy Transcoding via Plex and now I'm seeing GPU-30% and CPU-20-30%. Leaves me a lot of headroom incase there are some other things that need to be done or other Videos start.

  7. 2. I'd check the mount point to make sure your following it.

For example in the docker template it could say something of the fact

/Data and your mapping could be /mnt/disk1

In the docker you need to make sure your following the /Data to access your mounted point which would be /mnt/disk1

Of course what I used up above are examples, but you would need to make sure whatever you have in the template your following it to whatever you mapped it in the template.

I would of used /Data and /mnt to make sure it includes all my drives.

You could also use midnight commander to move files around simply by typing mc in your command line.

***Pro Tip*** right mouse on files/folders to highlight multiples vs moving each file/folder individually.

  8. So bizarre too. I'm watching the nvidia-smi and I can see the P State change from P8 to P0 while Transcoding, but my fan always reports as spinning 35%. I think the only thing that changes is the state and the Temp, but the Speed never does.

I'll just chalk this up as a problem to solve another day. Then again 35% isn't to bad.

  9. Ran it again after changing Xorg Display Output to 0

This is my current stat of my GPU while Transcoding an old AVI file. Plex says (hw) next to it so I can only assume its doing its thing.

On my attached file below I recall it saying P8 earlier and I thought it was louder.

  12. I just wish my GTX 1050TI was in idle it would spool down the fan. It’s literally the loudest thing in my case. Lol.

I spent lots of time buying Nactua fans and a Giant CPU Cooler to run practically silent and the humming of the GPU cooler drives me a little batty.

Oh well. At least the Driver works perfectly in Beta-35 so far. 😃

Sent you a PM. If you can't access it please Let one of the Admins know. Could be a simple permission issue if you don't see it.

For other Devs its at the very bottom of the Company Main Forum section just incase you just happen to over look it. ;)

  14. I compared your build to mine.

    I have the I7-4790K

    Asrock Extreme 6 97

    GTX 1050TI

You have a slightly higher CpuBench mark than I do. Id normally recommend Cpu bench mark of 2000 per transcode and you are sitting at 8139

    https://www.cpubenchmark.net/compare/Intel-Core-i7-3930K-vs-Intel-Core-i7-4790K/902vs2275

I can easily Transcode 4 Videos with no issues. I just recently added my VideoCard to add in GPU Transcoding too. Before I relied on the Processor to do all the work and it did just fine. Worked it pretty good, but it did fine.

The only thing I'd recommend and this is just a recommendation is look into a larger SSD. I'd personally shoot for around 500GB to give you a bit more breathing room for Docker Support aka Plex and some room for Caching new files as you add them to your system.  You could still start off with the SSD you have and just install the plugin CA Backup/Restore V2 so you can create a backup and restore point of your SSD in the event you decide later for more SSD room.

    I hope that helps. ;)
