Both @kizer and @ashman70 have great valid points, for me to grow from my amd A8 chip what i did was buy one thing at time and sell to recoup the funds, took me a while but i an happy now with what i got. its old server grade equipment but its bullet proof. On the flip side since it older hardware replacement parts are cheaper on the ebay's
When you boot up in the new case it will still have the same disks in the slot you originally assigned them. If you're asking does it matter where in the case they are its up to you.
If you do reassigned the slots in the webgui you will have issues.

The license is tied to the USB GUID so unless you can somehow get a good GUID and make it stick you should be ok. A long time ago when I first use unraid version 4.xx some people we're able to use CF card readers and if the card failed it would be still ok since the reader had a good GUID.
