Can't log into Asrock W880D4U BMC - need to adjust fan speed
I just look up the IP and then go from there. Also set your bcc account up and certificates correctly i.e. mine are not but its a private lan so I just don't worry about it. My server has pretty much the worst fan controller in the world in terms of setting speed so I do everything with these PWM controllers as the thing is in my bedroom https://www.aliexpress.com/item/1005009524761506.html?spm=a2g0o.productlist.main.17.4806BnsYBnsYPS&algo_pvid=05bd739b-5b9e-4c8e-8d9f-4cb8a9607879&algo_exp_id=05bd739b-5b9e-4c8e-8d9f-4cb8a9607879-16&pdp_ext_f=%7B%22order%22%3A%2281%22%2C%22eval%22%3A%221%22%2C%22fromPage%22%3A%22search%22%7D&pdp_npi=6%40dis%21AUD%2116.89%211.54%21%21%2177.00%217.01%21%402103126e17647224196958188e07cf%2112000049363709459%21sea%21AU%210%21ABX%211%210%21n_tag%3A-29910%3Bd%3A61a1ac28%3Bm03_new_user%3A-29895%3BpisId%3A5000000187461950&curPageLogUid=k8J640zq1zpa&utparam-url=scene%3Asearch%7Cquery_from%3A%7Cx_object_id%3A1005009524761506%7C_p_origin_prod%3A

Overwhelmed and need help on a CPU / Motherboard upgrade
Run a s2600stb here with xeon 6254's with 384gb of ram there's heaps of guys on here running up to 1tb of ram and EPYC it comes down to budget. I was lucky enough to score my s2600stb for $450 used. If you have the money go thread ripper if not check out last gen platforms like lga 3647 or even lga 2011. I have found that thread ripper is just to costly for me but I get ya. My raidz 0 of 4 drives uses up 64gb of ram alone my dockers and vms another 160gb of ram I have 36cores and 72 threads and they take a 50% beating when gaming and running everything on my system. Look at single threaded passmark scores if you plan to run gaming vm's or other docker/apps that need single threaded speed. I get about 56000 multi and 2490 single but have my server setting set aggressively as its not one of a thousand sitting in a data centre the power usage doing so is nullified. TBH if you can afford faster ram do it and also use all your channels there nothing wrong with using what you can afford, my first rig was an old ml 110 g8 I scored off eBay cheap. I wouldn't go near a consumer chipset now because I constly run out of pic-e lanes, if its file only fine but once you putting multi gpu's, hba's, usb controller cards in you run out quick and no off the self solution can solve.

Ark A380 and LSI raid not working together?
Have you tried other PCI-E slots had similar issue with a Lenovo P520, I still think it was because of a PCI-e lane shortage but try with just them 2 cards in your server to rule out using different slots. Check for a vbios and bios update after that. I now run a s2600stb with dual Xeons and have plenty of lanes lol, with the P520 it run out because of the 2 onboard m.2 slots were in use. Once I took the m.2 nvme's out it was fine. Not saying its your issue but with the config your at it must be pushing the limits of PCI-e lanes and worth a shot. If it's PCI-e lane shortage look at put an xeon in as I'm sure x99 can and i'am pretty sure on that platform they offer more lanes like later.

Art of Server vs. China
I've got nothing against art of server his YouTube channel is great but his prices are way to high. Lol the Chinese cards are Lenovo aka 9400-16i and inspure for 9300-8i and your calling them cheap. I got a Lenovo 430-16 (New not used in god knows what server and enviorment) flashed it to IT mode following the guide on how to flash lsi based cards and it fully supports NVMe as I've run U.2 NVMe off it. Your making out that anything that does come from a YouTuber whose been selling used server parts and making a good living do so is junk. There's nothing special with his cards apart from the support he offers which is beyond great though his charging up to nearly triple the price on used LSI based HBA's so it would want to be. I believe in supporting him for his work and sharing of knowledge though his pricing in obscene vs bulk sellers at least here in the land down under. Remember his in it for the money and to make a living not charity and that's totally fair who isn't in the hardware resale world, just don't mistake him for a community member like space invader giving away his time to help others, because his no volunteer and just another sales man. Another thing besides the occasional flash video most of his content is focused on stock he has and trying to flog it off, those old 9200 cards get a run down and yes they still work but its tech ten years old his hocking at ten times the amount. Most of his content is for people who no nothing any useful flash is someone else's work.

DELL PERC H330 HBA or IT mode
OP: It has to be flashed to IT mode because it will be in JOBD mode and will cause issues here's the guide, a google search will help you. So its just a 9300-8i under the hood lsi 3008, if I come across one ill remember that lol. Even looks like a stock lsi 3008 dell really like make life hard for us HBA hunters, most cards I just grab the lsi firmware and flash over and away I go.

Which Hard Drive Offers the Best Long-Term Reliability?
I buy used enterprise sas drives and connect them to my HBA. These drives while out of warranty in near every case are designed for getting a flogging 24/7 5 years straight. HP don't make drives they buy them from Seagate there Exos drives with a hp lable, but they also sell western digital and HGST with there stickers on them. Anyhow I buy these drives cheap and I have not had one die yet apart from with I hocked one up to a power cable that was from another psu that had the 12volt line on the 5volt line and revered polarity haha. Want storage cheap that comes from drives you can't afford and are in a wet dream of owning buy used sas drives. Here's my layout in my server, if you can but these new well there the best in terms of endurance, power / transerfere rate. Here's a pdf for the exes series, but my fav are the WD x375 series. I only have one as there hard to find cheap used in the land down under, I hit 250mbs steady with this baby hence its my parity drive, the Seagate Exos hit 220mbs and the HGST ultrastars 210mbs.

Upgrade Advice for Unraid Box – $600 Budget (CPU/Mobo/RAM Only)
Have you thought about the used market you can make that money go $1200 shopping smart. You might be able to grab a used thread ripper ect. Grab them AMD 9900X if new more cores since your going for VMs / containers its a no brainer. I wouldn't touch the new intel range with a ten foot pole lol, way to much bad feedback. You can sell your old MB/CPU/RAM off for extra $$'s

Which Intel CPU would you go for in Q2 of 2025?
I would be going AMD but each to there own. Get a used 9300/9400 hundred and save a tone, unless your planing to connect U.2 NVMe drives to your HBA which is going backwards when a $5 adaptor can do the job. What is your use case is what you should have said. If your using it for file server only then your wasting money, if its a ton of vms and docker containers then more cores. Have you thought about a used workstation dell 7920 ect. One thing people forget is that your using consumer gaming orientated hardware in a server case Sanrio. I have always used server workstation rigs for Unraid. First was a ML110 then a dell 5820 tons of pcie slots and lanes and now a s2600stb a real server board. All my rigs have had ecc reg ram and all xeon based which is made for the task. There's nothing wrong using a gaming rig for Unraid but you have to remember there not sold to run 24/7 deal with not having ecc ram, deal with not having rock solid stability, deal with not having pcie bifurcation, deal with limited pcie slots and lanes, no IPMI/BMC and have limited bios options to resolve things. I would look at Supermicro in your case and at least get a board that has some workstation/server functionality if buying new, like a X13SAE-F and getting some ecc non buffered ram to go with your lag 1700 cpu. Or go used and grab a ex server/workstation though there is one benefit of using a gaming rig is daul boot it for gaming :) My thoughts best of luck

Virtual Media from BMC / IPMI
You have to connect to your bmc and remove them, connect to your bmc port to network, make sure you have login and pass for bmc set in bios then post IP of BCM port in browser address bar and connect. Unmount virtual media and done, here's mine from my s2600stb and note I connect to modem gateway to find broadcasted BMC port IP.

Intel s2600stb daul Xeon Gold 6146 help optimising bios and vm's needed
Heya guys and gals I recently grabbed a intel s2600stb and p4000 chassis, I've got 2 xeon 6146's and 384gb of ram 12 sticks of 32gb ddr4 2666 running in 6 channel. The first 2 slots are using cpu 0, cpu 1 has 3 4 5 6. The board also has 4 oculink pcie x4 headers and 2 m.2 slots on cpu 0. I plan to use one oculink port for a egpu adaptor to add a 3rd gpu under the dual 750w psu's, I have a quadro p1000 in slot 1, slot 3 a rx 6600 slot 5 a pcie 4 slot nvme m.2 adaptor and slot 6 a LSI 9400-16i. What i'am after as a guide or info for bios settings for maximum performance and a more in depth idiots guide for vm's, I've read the asic VM tuning guide for multi socket motherboards on the forum but can't find much more. With bios settings I'm lost as there are so many options I don't understand what's best, aka interleaving memory 1 or 2 or disabled. I've know consumer boards inside and out and even understand most settings in the dell 5820 bios which is extremely advanced compared to the basic options in the p520 which I use as a gamer. I guess for the time being ill read up on numa but would love some help. Also setting up IPMI BCM and changing the lan ports I have dual 10gb ports and a 1gb IPMI BCM, I wish to be able to use the IPMI but it looks like its using it as my connection.

Cheap Lenovo 430-16i flashed to LSI 9400-16i tri mode Nvme support
No dramas ill link to a few guides when i get a chance, though theres enough pinned in this section to follow. It's been working great and i'am grabbing another U.2 to nvme caddy for a second nvme soon. The main reason i put this here as the lenovo 430-16i and 8i don't support tri-mode which takes the price down alot, though with a flash there full blown 9400's again

WANTED: New Graphics Card that can hibernate?
Have you tried the navi/polaris vender reset plugin? Havent tried sleep as its only used for gaming and my mac vm's but havent had an issue since installing the plugin. I would go for a nvidia card that fits then like a rtx 3070 seems like your already awsered your own question if your looking at nvidia. As to amd cards its a roll of the dice weather they have the issues as i've herd its just luck of the silicon.

Cheap Lenovo 430-16i flashed to LSI 9400-16i tri mode Nvme support
Heya guys I will write a guide up but its basically grabbing a brand new 430-16i which is close to half the price of a second hand 9400-16i and flashing with the 9400-16i firmware. Ebay is flooded with these hba's and all you need to do is grab the newest lsi 9400-16i firmware and flash in an efi shell. I used clover as a usb bootable efi shell and used its command prompt. I mounted the clover bootable disk with "map -r" next "fs0:" then just ls to lsit dir cd to change basic nix commands. You need the lastest storcli.efi from broadcom, its the flashing util and firmware for the 9400-16i which is under legacy. I found the guide on github googling "430-16i github" just download the lsi 9400 frimware instead of lenovo and follow. I will write a full step by step guide when i get a chance as it will save alot of people money. For a u.2 nvme cable i got mine of aliexpress searching for broadcom u.2 and getting the one with hd mini sas
