  1. I suggest reading why was already posted. It's literally what we've been already discussing. It took me a while to figure it out. You can either use the built in one and modify the vsftpd file in the /etc directory and configure User Scripts OR use SFTPGO. That's what has been discussed already. In great detail.
  2. So I was playing around with SFTPGo a bit. I think I figured out what my problem was. If you edit the container then "Add another Path, Port, Variable, Label or Device" I added the directory NAME (could be anything). Set the Container path (In my case it was "/Cameras" for my security camera FTP storage location which is /mnt/user/Cameras) Set the Host Path: /mnt/user/Cameras Access Mode: Read/Write (obviously) Then after applying the changes I restart the app. Open the webui for admin. Set a virtual folder: Name "Cameras" Root directory "/Cameras" Created a user "Security" (Left the Root directory alone.) Virtual Folders I set as "/Cameras" and selected "Cameras" (that was just created) Save. Just for the heck of it I played around a bit more. Virtual folder "Movies" Virtual folder "Music" Created user "Plex" Virtual folders "Movies" and "Music" When logging into "Security" on Filezilla it loads my "Cameras" folder When logging into "Plex" it loads my "Movies" and "Music" folders. Haven't played around much more with it though but it was more than I was looking for. Would like to get some security protocols enabled though. Other than 2FA for the webui of course. I like how it has an IP Block list and an autoblock feature but that's useless against VPNs. Not sure if this is something that I want accessible through the internet. Maybe local connections and VPN access only.
  3. Okay. Simple enough. I already had user scripts setup to automatically fire up my FTP server. The issue was that the vsftpd settings wouldn't stick. Will give this a try. Thanks!
  4. Nope. Still didn't work. This is frustrating. EDIT: So... I kinda went the long way around. I tried installing it on a fresh Unraid server. Brand new install. I was able to setup an admin on that one. Afterwards, I then copied the sftpgo appdata file onto a network drive. I then copied that appdata folder over to the one that I was trying to work. Now it works? I haven't messed around with it much but at least I got into the "View and managed users" section. I still have no clue to what I'm doing on here though. EDIT #2 2 hours later. I still have no idea what I'm doing. I create an account on there but everything keeps going to appdata I edit the configuration to try to include the security camera directory but the very root of the program is appdata so I can't. So I change the settings in the docker app and in order to get it to work in the webgui is to literally name the user as the directory as the security folder. That's annoying. Plus, I can't get Filezilla to work on it. I'm taking a break from it. I hate that Unraid 7 dropped support for proftpd because it was so much easier!
  5. Nope. Didn't work either. I'm doing this away from home through tailscale and even trying through Wireshark. I'll have to try it again when I get home.
  6. Nope. Didn't work.
  7. So what's the password then? This has been the issue from the beginning. This is what I was talking about.
  8. I've tried that one and I can't ever get passed the login screen. It's never asked me to set an account up and can't find the user/password anywhere to set it up. I've tried everything obvious. My only successful searches ended here:
  9. I think the update to Unraid 7 broke it and the developer ceased to maintain it kinda leaving us with limited options.
  10. This was very helpful! Much appreciated. It took me a moment to figure out how to access the files in /etc/ Had to nano to edit. I'm not very knowledgeable in Linux but it's stuff like this that helps me learn! So thanks for that as well. EDIT: I just replaced a hard drive and rebooted the system and noticed that the FTP wasn't working. Turned out that all changes in the vsftpd.conf file were reverted. What happened? Based on what I can only assume is that since the /etc directory is loaded from the flash drive into the ram then everything in the etc directory will be reset on a reboot. I have yet to test this but I'm thinking that maybe I can make a slight edit in the /boot/config/go file? Perhaps make a back up of the vsftpd.conf file to /boot and then add something like: mv /etc/vsftpd.conf vsftpd.conf.bak cp /boot/vsftpd.conf /etc/vsftpd.conf to the go file? Maybe that way the changes will stick? By simply copying the edited .conf file over to the /etc directory before the array starts triggering the FTP service to initiate with the recent changes in the updated vsftpd.conf file? I'm not very good at this and have yet to test this. Looking for advice before pulling the trigger on it. Already made a backup of go (go.bak) and vsftpd.conf (vsftpd.conf.bak) just in case. Plus multiple flash device backups. LOL!
  11. The transceivers were the problem. Since the Mellanox arrived today I swapped the cards and used 10GTeck fiber transceivers. I'll probably keep the Intel one and use it as a spare or on another machine.
  12. Awesome. I had read that all Intel cards were supported all that's why I felt confident with it. But it seems that you can only use Intel modules only.
  13. It's weird. Because these are the transceivers: https://www.amazon.com/dp/B0753BHLQY?ref=ppx_yo2ov_dt_b_fed_asin_title&th=1 It's odd that they don't work on an intel card. I guess I'll try some intel specific modules and give those a try before attempting to replace the card. Unless you think the Mellonox that I just ordered is better? https://www.amazon.com/dp/B0D1J86R1G vs https://www.amazon.com/dp/B014S2EL50
  14. Giving this a bit more thought, maybe I have unsupported transceivers? https://a.co/d/1OJ6HOK Should be supported...
  15. Well... looks like I've stumped the community. I'm going to try a different card. Just ordered this: https://www.amazon.com/dp/B0D1J86R1G?smid=A1R5XKHMUHDQAZ&ref_=chk_typ_imgToDp&th=1
  16. Tried all of that. Rearranged the cards. The network indicator lights come on the switch but not the card oddly enough. Thinking maybe a bad card? Thoughts? I tried changing from Auto to Gen3 and Gen2 in the bios. Nothing helped. EDIT: I'm noticing that I don't seem to have a network-rules.cfg file anymore. I deleted it as well as network.cfg files but for some reason network-rules.cfg wasn't generated on boot. unraid2-diagnostics-20250125-1753.zip

  18. Note: I noticed that while messing around with it my ETH0 and ETH1 got switched around somehow. But I still have the issue of course.
  19. So I just purchased a Dell XYT17 Intel X520-DA2 Dual-Port 10Gb SFP+ PCI-e Full-Profile NIC from Amazon. It shows up in System Devices: IOMMU group 0:[8086:5912] 00:02.0 VGA compatible controller: Intel Corporation HD Graphics 630 (rev 04) IOMMU group 1:[8086:591f] 00:00.0 Host bridge: Intel Corporation Xeon E3-1200 v6/7th Gen Core Processor Host Bridge/DRAM Registers (rev 05) IOMMU group 2:[8086:1901] 00:01.0 PCI bridge: Intel Corporation 6th-10th Gen Core Processor PCIe Controller (x16) (rev 05) [8086:1909] 00:01.2 PCI bridge: Intel Corporation Xeon E3-1200 v5/E3-1500 v5/6th Gen Core Processor PCIe Controller (x4) (rev 05) [8086:10f1] 01:00.0 Ethernet controller: Intel Corporation 82598EB 10-Gigabit AF Dual Port Network Connection (rev 01) [8086:10f1] 01:00.1 Ethernet controller: Intel Corporation 82598EB 10-Gigabit AF Dual Port Network Connection (rev 01) [1d6a:00b1] 02:00.0 Ethernet controller: Aquantia Corp. IOMMU group 12:[8086:15b8] 00:1f.6 Ethernet controller: Intel Corporation Ethernet Connection (2) I219-V (rev 31) As you can tell, I already have a 1GB NIC on my MB and a 10G that I'm currently using as ETH0. What I am hoping to do is use the three 10G as my LAN for transferring data and my 1G for a fallback. Don't plan on using it at all actually if I can help it. Maybe in case my 10G switches fail? Anyway, I placed it in my motherboard and the motherboard detects it in the bios. No problem. Unraid detects it in System Devices. But for some reason, it doesn't show in Network Settings. ETH0 is the 10G ETH1 is the onboard 1G (and Tailscale as "Interface Extra" eth0 tailscale1) I was hoping to see a ETH2 after booting... but nothing. (I didn't run the other SFP+ port on the new NIC yet since this was just a test.) No network indicator light on the switch or on the back of the NIC either. What am I missing? Looking at System Drivers it appears that I have everything in use if I'm reading this correctly? atlanticMarvell (Aquantia) Corporation(R) Network DriverInusenet/ethernet/aquantia/atlantic e100Intel(R) PRO/100 Network DriverInusenet/ethernet/intel e1000Intel(R) PRO/1000 Network DriverInusenet/ethernet/intel/e1000 e1000eIntel(R) PRO/1000 Network DriverInusenet/ethernet/intel/e1000e ixgbeIntel(R) 10 Gigabit PCI Express Network DriverInusenet/ethernet/intel/ixgbe unraid2-diagnostics-20250124-2249.zip
  20. I wish they would allow FIDO security keys for access.
  21. Agreed. And/or to decrypt the arrays. That would be nice.
  22. Thanks for this. Gonna give this a try later. Any idea on how to set the directory? The OS version defaults on /mnt which is... risky in my opinion. Just like @BrianGhere, I use it to store my surveillance videos on. But when you log in it goes right to /mnt directory. So if someone was to hack it... So I'd like to have it set to a very specific directory if it's possible.
  23. I previously used ProFTPd on verion 6 but it stopped working on OS7. The built in FTP server is very easy to setup and operate BUT: It doesn't start by default. I would like for it to automatically start after the array starts. AND For some reason, it defaults to /mnt/ directory. This gives RW permissions to whatever can access it. I hate that! FTP is notoriously easy to hack. And everyone knows that it uses port 21. So it's easy to assume that a port scan of port 21 can reveal your easy to hack FTP server which can lead to losing everything. That's frightening! I only need it for my security camera NVR system to upload the videos and images to. That's it. Where ProFTPd I was allowed to set the FTP directory to /mnt/user/CameraNVR and the FTP server would ONLY be that directory so if the FTP was to be compromised, that's all I'd lose. But now I risk losing it all. I have tried a few of the community FTP servers and they're all waaaayyyy too difficult to configure for me. Any inputs or thoughts?
  24. Seems to be specific to this board and it's latest bios: ASRock Z170 OC Formula American Megatrends Inc., Version P7.60 BIOS dated: Friday, 03/02/2018 Users with that board will not be able to flash or upgrade to OS 7.0.0. Ticket #6747 and as mentioned in this thread: A system can only boot if disabling the microcode (dis_ucode_ldr) to the syslinux.cfg file. Previous versions of UnRaid were not affected. It's been stated that the issue is with the kernel uses in OS 7.0.0 (6.6.68) and that the problem would require AsRock to update their bios which is extremely unlikely for such old hardware (latest bios was 2018.) https://www.asrock.com/MB/Intel/Z170 OC Formula/index.asp#BIOS unraid2-diagnostics-20250123-0005.zip
