LSI Controller FW updates IR/IT modes
Of course you can ask, but I don't have this controller at hands to update the instructions. Since you have it, maybe we can find a way to update it together? I could prepare a "toolset" based on the information posted by hendu and you give it a try. Note, you need this section for your card!

Obviously the megarec call is not working any more!? You can try the same with sas2flsh. sas2flsh.exe -l Flashlog.txt -listall By the way, sas2flsh -o -e 6 will clean the cards flash. You don't want to do that. There is no documented option to set the controller to a certain link state. You can check the link state but you need a device connected to the controller. sas2flash –o –testlsall Values range from 0 to 3, whereas 0 ist link down and 3 = 6.0GB/s See the SAS2Flash reference guide for more info. Removing the BIOS needs another procedure now, as the megarec is not working anymore. You have to use sas2flsh for all steps this time. !I have never done this! but from my understanding you need to wipe the flash using "sas2flsh.exe -0 -e 6". Then use the "sas2flsh.exe -l Flashlog.txt -o -f 2118it.bin" and finally write the SAS adress.

LSI Controller FW updates IR/IT modes
If you use the H310 toolset there should the SBR will be saved in step 2. I had no reason to try and go back to original fw. I guess, you could flash the LSI IR firmware but going back to the DELL IR is probably impossible. I attached the release notes for each firmware since P11. Once you're in the process of flashing it is a good idea to go with the latest firmware. Release_Notes_P11_P20.zip

Dynamix - V6 Plugins
Not sure what happened. All settings - including running state - are retained after a upgrade. Yesterday another update of s3sleep was available. I ran the update procedure and forgot to check the status of the service. The server did not go to sleep last night - checked the s3sleep plugin status and it was stopped. New update, same problem. But this time I remembered to start it manually I had checked the code before publishing the update and didn't find anything wrong. Can't say why yours doesn't do the auto restart Just want to feed back. For some reason the last 2 updates went flawless. Meanwhile I got used to check the status after updating, but the service was always "started".

You should not flash while in Windoooze! Boot into DOS - is that not explained in the readme? Because the author of that post is not expected to do so. I do it for the H310 as I have that kind of controllers. As I don't have M1015's I can't update but only deduce from the H310 precedure. The H310 procedure is based on the one from the M1015. If you deviate from the posted instructions, you're on your own to a certain extent! Especially if you update with IBM firmware first, it can cause issues. I didn't check the IBM software so I can't say if they have an IT firmware within that package? If you want to go with LSI (Avago) IT firmware then better stick to the package and the instructions inside. You will safely reach your target. Going to P20.00.07.00 from there is easy. This makes me think, you didn't read the readme... The first step in the procedure is to grab the information off the card. That is what you can see there. Exactly! Right, have to check. My last info was P20.00.07.00 or something like that - but generally correct. P11 was the most recent at the time the post was written. Many people use the info, but nobody cares to update. Nevertheless P11 is working well. No, not necessary. You will cross-flash the controller with LSI (Avago) firmware. Once on LSI firmware, the IBM tools (the ones available to the public) will probably not work anymore. If you have problems to flash from DOS, then try UEFI. Caution, the instructions probably don't cover UEFI. You have to look for additional info how to get UEFI working. The procedure itself (step by step) will be the same. (You read the readme after all :-)) Right, this is optional. BIOS adds no benefit in unRAID. In the H310 instructions no BIOS will not be flashed by default. You can have a look at the H310 instructions also. You can see the differences so it may add to your understanding. Edit: Well, you did it after all. Repeating Step 1 will probably report the controller's settings - with regard to the 6GB/s setting.

LSI Controller FW updates IR/IT modes
Hi Zeus, I guess there is no other way of testing the card as to set up a RAID array. But, you could flash the DELL IT firmware and do some testing with unRAID. I guess it is possible to return to DELL IR firmware if really needed.

Nice, thanks Rob! That was already a huge amount of work!

Preclear.sh results - Questions about your results? Post them here.
I have no access to a server at the moment to check, but iirc in /var/log could be a copy of them also.

Maybe: "Crossflashing Controllers" In fact I have no preference. I figure it should be self-explanatory, simple and easy to find. If you can import those posts, it would be a good base to start from. We should link only from the specific controllers in the compatibility page that are covered on the new wiki pages. There could be a "general" section, where the intention/basics of flashing are explained more in detail, that can be linked to, as a guide for users who have to flash new, unknown hardware or as background information.

Yes, I'm in. Would you please prepare the backbone somewhere in the wiki? Then I will work on the content.

Use this tools and instructions: http://lime-technology.com/forum/index.php?topic=12767.msg121131#msg121131 Once you read the readme, and understood the procedure, I'm sure you know what to do. The latest firmware available is P20.00.07 for the reference card (LSI 9211-8i) http://www.avagotech.com/products/server-storage/host-bus-adapters/sas-9211-8i#downloads You can replace the P11 files from the instructions above with the P20. Make sure to pick the IT firmware, as well as the sas2flsh.exe If you have problems in DOS, then you can switch to UEFI. See here how to use UEFI shell (Kudos 2 Maglin).

:'( So what should I do now? Anything I can do to contribute to bugfixing?

Good to hear that you figured it out. I prepared a toolset for flashing the H310 that seems a bit more straight forward than the instruction you linked. The wiki also has valuable information about other cards and how to flash them if necessary. Just in case someone runs into this posts...

[Plugin] CA Fix Common Problems
Because every time the array starts, this plugin will perform the tests, regardless of if a schedule is set or not. Didn't look at the logs, but the delay shouldn't be more than say 10 seconds tops. If it was 10s only I probably wouldn't have noticed. The delay is around 5 minutes. I have to double check but AFAIK I disabled the plugin after running it once because there were no issues found that I didn't already know. Will the plugin also run at start-up if it is set disabled?

Try another cable. $8 is a quite good (not to say cheap) price but it might not be the best quality you got there. I love this cables because they help to keep the server clean and they give a tight fit so the cable won't come loose very easy. Depending on your location, maybe you can source them somewhere else too? A similar cable distributed by Fujitsu is called T26139-Y4023-V501.

[Plugin] CA Fix Common Problems
I installed this plugin because I was curious if there is some issue with my server - actually, it's working fine. With this plugin installed however, the server start-up is delayed for some reason. See attached logs before I had the plugin installed, and after. Please advise, how I can help troubleshooting. fix_common_start_delay.zip

Well, you made a point here. If you were living in my country I would flash them for you. Shipping costs would be the lesser evil than touching a running system.

LSI Controller FW updates IR/IT modes
Partially correct. The term ist "passthrough" or IT-mode. JBOD can still have a "layer" provided by the controller which is not welcome also. Saw this recently. https://lime-technology.com/forum/index.php?topic=50895.msg488797#msg488797 I would stock up if it was in Europe. Flashing those cards is no issue at all!

ControlR (Android/iOS app for unRAID)
Some feedback from my side. I had some problems to find my password protected server. Checked manually but did not enter the credentials since it says "optional". Of course, no server was found. Maybe "optional" should be called "if set" or something like that? The automatic discovery also did not return anything because of the missing credentials. Maybe there is a way to provide some feedback if the server is found, but password is necessary? When using the dark theme, the input boxes are unrecognizeable since they have the same color as the background. Feature request: Can we have an icon in the top bar to show the server status (online/offline/warning) as long as the app is running? Maybe color coded red/green/yellow? Numbers if there are multiple servers alive?

LSI Controller FW updates IR/IT modes
Yes, if it is not already in IT Mode. unRAID will do it's magic based on software. The controller hardware has to simply provide the drives to the OS. Hardware RAID is not necessary and will not work. Some hardware in this thread may be obsolete, but the fact that a controller card has to run in IT mode is still valid.

I guess it is not only a matter of the firmware.

LSI Controller FW updates IR/IT modes
@koshia AFAIK there is no way to flash the 6/i for unRAID. Also, as these cards are not supporting drives >2.2TB, I doubt there will be any ongoing development for them. The 6iR tools are linked in the wiki.
