  1. Most of them yes, old Archive drives work great, some newer models like the ST8000DM004 appear to be more hit and miss, at least some of them.
  2. If the shares are set to 0Kb any copy to the array that uses cache may run out of space when the cache if full, since cache floor default is only set at 2GB.
  3. Please explain what is the current problem.
  4. Parity won't be valid because of all the read errors, do this: and try again.
  5. Please post the diagnostics: Tools -> Diagnostics
  6. Try stopping the integrity plugin, it's hashing files.
  7. That's not needed for v6.8.x Never seen this firmware before, could be a beta, latest version on Avago's site is 20.00.07.00, try that one.
  8. Please post the diagnostics: Tools -> Diagnostics
  9. Why do I bother if people don't even read the link?
  10. Yeah, then AFAIK not much you can do, other than trying with a different backplane, or getting one from ebay, but they can be expensive even used.
  11. Rebuild is sequential, but you don't need to start a rebuild for that, whatever the emulated disk shows is the same it will show after the rebuild is complete.
  12. What kind of backplane? If there's no expander swap cables with another slot/miniSAS cable, if it's an expander backplane it can only be the slot.
  13. RAM is way over max supported for that CPU/RAM combo, and a known stability issue with Ryzen, respect max RAM speeds here, btrfs file system should be recreated.
  14. These are basically the same and enough for spinners. These are PCIe 3.0, 9300-8i and 9400-8i are SAS3 also, could justify for SSDs or when using more than 8 disks with a SAS expander.
  15. You didn't mention that before, assuming the diags were taken after a transfer there's nothing logged, so can't guess what the problem is, but it should be easy to rule out by swapping that disk with another one and see if the problems stays with the slot/cable or follows the disk.
  16. The 8TB drive are not SMR, despite the model being the same.
  17. You can find them in the SMART report, this section: SMART Extended Self-test Log Version: 1 (1 sectors) Num Test_Description Status Remaining LifeTime(hours) LBA_of_first_error # 1 Short offline Completed without error 00% 3966 - That one passed, a failed test usually appears as "Completed: read failure" and an interrupted one as "Interrupted: host reset", also make sure disk spin down is disable, depending on the Unraid version it may interrupt the test.
  18. Sorry, can't really help with encryption since I've never used it, but try searching the forum, seem to remember others users copying the heather from a different drive.
  19. That's a MegaRAID controller, there's no IT mode, always RAID mode, see here for a list of some recommended options:
  20. According to the SMART reports they never started, or they should be logged as complete or interrupted.
  21. First LUKS must be open, only then it gives access to the filesystem, and encryption will always add an extra complexity layer, I recommend only using it if really needed.
  22. No extended tests were run on either, there are short tests, extended test should take around 8H on those disks.
