  1. Can you use something like https://remotedesktop.google.com/ or https://www.logmein.com/home2. You can use https://portableapps.com/ to run the apps directly from your flash drive
  2. Am I the only one thinking people are making new accounts to try to win? There are a lot of accounts here with only a single post.
  3. I love the functionality it has! Everything I need in one place. It's really set it and forget it (as a NAS should be). Also love the community! I would love snapshots added!
  4. I agree with this 100%. I've definitely been in situations at work where we updated a server BIOS and it caused more issues than it fixed. On the other hand a BIOS update fixed the issues on my SM board that was causing unraid to randomly reboot. Unless there is a major security patch or I have a bug I'm looking to patch I don't touch my BIOS on unraid. My desktop computer is a different story. I don't care if it goes down for a day or two, so every now and then I flash the bios.
  5. I had to dig through my email and there was a sale in the beginning of 2014. None since. Obviously I'm biased but I think unraid is an incredibly good deal, and I would highly recommend purchasing it if you've already tried the trial version and liked it.
  6. That was great! I really enjoyed reading that. I feel like I know Tom and team a little better I hope that these types of QA's happen more often. I'm really enjoying the blog posts you have been putting out.
  7. Wow totally missed that. Someone bumped it from way back.
  8. why telegram vs slack or discord?
  9. To add to this here is a good source of info for secure wipe. https://www.wepc.com/how-to/securely-erase-an-ssd-drive/

    DNS services

I'm using Google with DNS over TLS. I'm thinking about switching to another provider but they are nowhere near as fast. I highly suggest running Steve Gibson's benchmark tool to help you decide. https://www.grc.com/dns/benchmark.htm
  11. I know this isn't exactly what you're asking but there are other router solution that include great parental controls such as Eero: https://eero.com/experience
  12. It's been almost 15 years since unraid came out. What has been the must surprising change to you in unraid? Where do you see unraid and storage technology in the next 5, 10, 15 years? I also can't believe I've been using it since 2008!
  13. I just saw on their blog at the podcast is back! I highly recommend it for the homeserver/unraid crowd. I'm enjoying the first 2 new episodes and thought everyone on here would as well. I'm in no way associated with ls.io just a fan of their work. https://blog.linuxserver.io/2019/05/16/the-podcast-is-reborn/
  14. Yup they do. I'll use them for a hoodie! Thanks! Edit: Ordered!
  15. Wow I somehow completely missed that option. Thanks for pointing that out Squid I'll customize and order. Edit: Is there a place to get a higher res image of the logo? I can't make it bigger since it's too low res
  16. I would love to buy a hoodie but they are a little boring looking. A small logo in the middle of a hoodie doesn't really do it for me.
  17. Yeah me too. I might start another thread asking for some recommendations.
  18. I would do this: https://www.amazon.com/ARRIS-SURFboard-SB6190-DOCSIS-Cable/dp/B016PE1X5K/ref=sr_1_fkmr1_1?keywords=arris+surfboard+1gbps&qid=1553559217&s=electronics&sr=1-1-fkmr1 Unless you wanted to really really future proof (but I think it's a waste of money) then you could do this: https://www.amazon.com/Next-Generation-ARRIS-SURFboard-SB8200-DOCSIS/dp/B07DY16W2Z/ref=sr_1_fkmr1_2?keywords=arris+surfboard+1gbps&qid=1553559217&s=electronics&sr=1-2-fkmr1 Remember these are just modems you'd still need a router. Unless you were looking for a gateway?
  19. Hi, 1. It would not! It's the smart thing to do! It'll save you a bunch of money in the long run. 2. Can you let us know what speeds you have? Modem will depend on down/up speeds. But I always go with a ARRIS Surfboard modem. I've never had a single issue with them for many many years. Again depending on your speed I can't recommend a specific model. 3. As long as you go with a good reputable brand you should be ok! Be a bit weary buying a used on from craigslist or ebay as if it's not removed from the old account you can't add it to yours.
  20. Thanks for that link! Is running that command the same as running it through the GUI? Also I seem to have lost all my settings for my nzbhydra2 container Edit: Weird I lost indexer settings but logs and history are still there. Restored from backup and all is well.
  21. Hi, Out of the blue my nzbhydra2 container stopped working. I got some errors about cache utilization being high but then returned back to normal. I tried to restart the container and got a 403 error. Looking at the looks there are some BTRFS errors but I don't know what they mean. I haven't restarted the system yet. Can someone please take a look and let me know the next steps I should take? DIag attached. Thanks! namek-diagnostics-20190309-1724.zip
  22. Running AWS would have been cheaper than their current repair and recovery costs. Also cheaper and faster to scale.
  23. I wonder why they aren't running in AWS or any other cloud provider.
  24. An update! https://www.supermicro.com/en/news/CEO-3rdPartySecurity-Update I'm just waiting for a lawsuit to drop.
