    Are you sure you have lost data? Controller issues don't usually cause loss of data, just loss of access to the drives. The data is probably still there, but you can't reach it without a working controller. Controllers are the bridges to the drive islands. You are just waiting for a new bridge. (I confess I haven't read back through this) Well I guess we shall see then. Let me ask you this. Once the M1015 controler comes in I should be able to pop it into the server and rebuild the drive set and have all the data there?

    Ah. Well I have a new SAS2LP that is suppose to be in the mail today and I have a M1015 that should hopefully get to me by the end of the week. It just really sucks that I have lost over 10TB worth of data. Thankfully it was mostly Movies that I have on DVD that I have put onto the server. Although about 1TB worth of it was my YouTube videos that I do.

    I'd get a n IBM M1015 or derivative, tried and tested by many on here. There's even a thread on how to flash them, although I think firmware v20 is dodgy. Last time I tried to get one I couldn't figure out how to flash it even with the thread. I've done a couple now and it can be a bit of a pain but it's possible, I seem to remember the biggest trouble is getting the files. I found one on Ebay saying it has been flashed already to LSI 9208 IT. Is that the correct mode?

    Well once my new card comes in on Wednesday I will replace the card and PSU. I have a Corsair AX760 laying around that I will use. But to answer your question No the drives are on 2-3 power leads and I believe I put them on different rails as well to help with overall spin up load.

    Yes I can but the PSU is not the issue at hand due to it is not under any kind of load and the server has been behind a APC Battery all of its life.

    Yea all the BIOS has been updated. I have fliped and floped the cables. So I am going to try the card one more time and hope for the best. I really don't want to replace the MoBo due to the cost.

    I aint getting those kind of errors in my logs. I get cannot access diskxx or memblockxx stuff. Thank you for looking at that though!

    Yea but not really sure on how to test an addon card. I got another card on order.

    Just thinking that you may have another idea than doing that. I guess I am going to replace the card yet again and hope things go well. I really don't want to replace the MoBo.

    Well that does leave the PCIe slot on the MB as a possibility... Well what do I do to fix this issue?

    That was the first thing I have tried when started having these issues in the first place. Besides It shouldn't give me as many as issues as it is due to the fact it is ECC.

    No they are all on the SuperMicro AOC-SAS2LP-MV8 and I have done replaced this card once before. The ones that are connected to the MoBo are usually fine.

    I keep on having issues with this darn server left and right. It seems to work and I will put data on the drives. Then next thing I know I have 6 drives "Go bad". So I check them via a smart report and they come back good. So I clean the redball and add them back to the set. And do a parity rebuild. Next thing I know half my darn data is missing/corrupted.     I have no issues using my Nexus Player with a mixture of VLC and Es File Explorer.

    I would say almost a nice build. Everything looks good except the mobo and cpu. I would look into using a Supermicro mobo with IPMI. Mostly so you wont have to plug a screen/keyboard every time you want to tinker with the server. RAM. Never can have enough ram. HDs. Good choice but would go with a WD RE drive for parity. Cant wait to see build pics!

    Yea. If you have a chromecast it will work as well. Impressive, you should share this with the community, I'm sure some of the folks here would love this functionality.. I will once I get it finished.
