  1. So I am trying to get it where 2 of my nics are running LAG to the NAS for storage and then the other 2 nics will run its own LAG to support the VMs. So you are probably asking your self why does he need 2 2gb connections. For one while running backups of the nas and transferring large files I am maxing out the 1gb connection. As far as in the VMs they need the bandwith of 2gb for ip cam intake and other automation. I know how to configure my switch for LAG.
  2. The only issue is with windows 7 home is it doesn't officially support remote desktop.. Could use TeamViewer.
  3. Well it isn't just with Windows VMs that is the case. I am also having issues with installing and running simple things like Ubuntu server or even desktop. like it will just hang up and I have to force stop the VM. I am not running out of ram or CPU. Then when working with 4 different NICs. 5 if you want to include IPMI. unRAID seems to want to gobble up all 4 ports and work with just one. UNLESS you go deep into the scripting to change it. I just don't feel like the software is not user friendly when it comes to VMs. Don't get me wrong I enjoy it for the purpose that it is suppose to do and that is NAS but VMs it still need serious work. (Just my 2 cents. -- Now where is my 98 cents? )
  4. There was a Video on how to do this. http://lime-technology.com/videos/
  5. Here is something. I have been having all kinds of issues working with the unRAID VM manager and it is a pain to have to install "special" drivers for windows to work. Has anyone installed ESXI on a unRAID VM? OR is it just better to install ESXI on the server then install unRAID on a VM?
  6. I like the darker one. Could you happen to do one with a black background?
  7. Na I am talking about desktop wallpapers.
  8. Is there any unRAID wall papers?
  9. I am currently in the process of zeroing out all the drives and going to start fresh. Just making sure that all data that is on the server is PURE. I had also removed one of the red drives and added a 1TB SSD for VMs/fast transfer between devices.
  10. What are you trying to accomplish? Reducing HDD temps typically means trying to move ALL the airflow over the drives first, which isn't going to happen with positive case pressure unless you have supercharged drive bay fans. I've had good results with all fans except for the HDD rack exhausting. Well I do want to reduce the HDD temp but also keep dust out. Since having the positive pressure in the case I don't have any dust inside. I can change 3 of the fans to blow out. All fans are 140mm except the PCI card slot fan.
  11. I second this motion. I had to changed out my SAS2LP card out because of constant issues.
  12. I have added a PCI slot fan that sucks from the case and blows out the back. I have changed the Supermicro card out for a IBM 1015 card as well Current fan setup. Top of case -> 2 fans blowing in. Front of case -> 2 fans blowing in. Bottom of case -> 1 fan blowing in. side of case -> 1 fan blowing in. back of case -> 1 fan blowing out. HD cages have a fan blowing in. PCI card slow fan blowing out. Is it possible I have too many fans blowing in and not enough going out? I am trying to keep a positive case pressure. Also I have filters on all the fans that are blowing in.
  13. Well I was having an issue with the rebuild at first untill i unplugged the drives and replugged them in. Although I am still not fully comfy with putting data on the server. I've been jacking with this thing for over a year and right when I think I get all the bugs fixed this darn thing gives me issues again. Thankfully my IMPORTANT data is backed up more than once place. but still. I am tired of downloading my DVDs and BlueRays to my computer / compress/format them then move to the server. I have some big ideas that I am wanting to use the server for but I just seem like I can't with the thing always giving me issues. I am starting to miss my Poweredge 1900... granted it didn't have near the storage but I didn't have to mess with it and it just worked. I am still sticking with unRAID don't get me wrong but this is annoying! And the card is actually a LSI MegaRAID 9240-8i PCI-E 6Gb RAID Controller IBM M1015 here is some of my other posts about almost the same issues. http://lime-technology.com/forum/index.php?topic=40501 http://lime-technology.com/forum/index.php?topic=35152.0
  14. I was just going to say congrats on getting your server back up and error free then read your update. Sorry to hear you are getting errors. Are you in the US? I have a very stable old Intel board I used unraid with it for a few years and worked like a charm. If you are in the US I can send it to you, just pay for shipping. Maybe having another board to test/try will help? Yea I am down in Texas Edit (9/01/2015 06:38am CST-6): The drive rebuild finished and I don't see any errors in my logs. Although I have still lost a good amount of data. :'( I have attached a diagnostic log: http://lilnetwork.com/download/nas/tower-diagnostics-20150901-0637.zip I don't see any problems, except that was already mentioned about disk 6. I have one disk with 1 CRC error and I got that one error the first day I used it. It never in creased, but your disk 6 has a lot of them. If your re-build is complete with no errors then it was because of that SAS2 card? I'm lucky using 2 of them. Two SAS2 cards No I keep on having issues with the SuperMicro SAS2LP cards. I have put in a M1050 and did a rebuild.

  16. Well Drives 1-8 are on the card and 9-12, parity, cache are on the mobo. I had unplugged the drive 6 and plugged it back in. I started the server back up and running rebuild. http://lilnetwork.com/download/nas/IMG_20150831_143418.jpg http://lilnetwork.com/download/nas/IMG_20150831_143404.jpg http://lilnetwork.com/download/nas/IMG_20150831_143418.jpg[/img] http://lilnetwork.com/download/nas/IMG_20150831_143404.jpg[/img]
  17. Well here is an update Getting this http://lilnetwork.com/download/nas/tower-diagnostics-20150831-0124.zip
  18. Well I had plugged in the M1050 and so far no errors. But I guess only time will tell if I will have an issue with this card. It is currently rebuilding the data. Although I do have to say the EST speed is about 40MB/sec quicker than the super-micro card. For a total of 145MB/sec
  19. Not sure you can count on getting smart reports from that. Why would you say that. It is just a converter from USB to SATA. I use the WD Data Lifeguard Diagnostic for Windows that does a SMART report on the drives with that device. http://support.wdc.com/product/download.asp?groupid=810&sid=3〈=en I have used that device and software on multiple different kind of drives and even an external that was giving me all kinds of issues. It gave me the ability to pull the data off the drive.
  20. I would think that one of these would work for you. http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B005B3VO24 I personally like this one due to it having its own PSU to power the drive than pulling power from USB.
  21. Once you assign the drives and start the array, the data should all be there. Okay I will give that a try once it comes in. So I guess I should just send back the new sas2lg controller? I will keep yaw posted as if this fixes the issue. It was mentioned before. Should I go ahead and swap out the PSU to the Corsiar AX760 that I have or should the Corsair AX860 that is currently in the server should be fine?
