  1. Well I will try that. I had also gotten an IBM M1501 raid card and unRAID is not seeing any of the HDs that is attached to the card. I was told that I need to flash the card but I don't understand on how to go about that. (Never had a need to flash firmware). I'm at this current point I will pay someone to fix this thing. I've had it since July and haven't been able to put data on it without it redballing or just loosing drives all together. I want to start putting stuff on it and start learning on what else I can do with the unRAID os.
  2. Here it is in action. Yes My Ethernet cables are color coded depending on there "job".
  3. Well the problem with unRaid 5 is it wont read my addon card. Now i had done a preclear of disk 1 and the parity before all of this. All of the HDs are empty
  4. here is the second part of the log. log2.txt
  5. well here is a syslog of the server. as far as in smart I will have to take it out of the server and test it. log1.txt
  6. If the disk was red-balled then this indicated that a write to it has failed. This might explain the failure to format. Have you got to the bottom of why this happened/is happening? No, that is why I am asking ya.
  7. Okay it got down formatting. BUT it had only formatted Disks7-12. and redballed disk1. I had restarted the server and it would let me format disks 2-6. I had reenabled disk1 and went to go format it and it says it started formatting but when i hit refresh it says unformatted. I had changed my file system all to XFS and now on unRAID 6.0Beta9.
  8. well got the preclear all done and got beta9 installed and now formatting the drives over to XFS. So lets see if it also fixes my issues of moving large file folders.
  9. ill go ahead and preclear my drives and get beta9 once it comes out. the preclear will take about 3 days to do. i think it was something like 96hours...
  10. I did change the DHCP to more than an hour and for what ever reason it wont change. As far as the old hard drive that was in there. It would run fine for alittle while then it would redball on me and once it did that it would lock up the entire system and I would have to reboot the server. I then took the hard drive out and replaced it with the one that you are seeing and is causing this new issue. I did do a SMART check on the old hard drive on a separate computer via WD Tools and did a short and long SMART checks and came back fine. I then ran a DISK CLEAR on it so it wrote 0s to the entire HD. I am not sure as to what is causing all of the issues here. All of the DATA drives are WD Red 4TB drives but the Parity drive that is a WD RE 4TB PFSence. Updated post: Another thing is i was reading is that beta 7-8 was having issues with corruption and issues with the reiserfs file system. Should I preclear the hard drives that have data on it and change over the file system? At this current moment I don't have that much data on the server because of the current issues at hand. So I do not mind on "starting fresh" so to say.
  11. Here you go. preclear_rpt_WD-WCC4E4FKJ67H_2014-09-08.txt preclear_start_WD-WCC4E4FKJ67H_2014-09-08.txt preclear_finish_WD-WCC4E4FKJ67H_2014-09-08.txt
  12. I got 48TB total on mine and about 200gb used so far. I got about 4tb I need to move over but still working on kinks. Built to last for awhile unless i go on a binge
  13. well it also says rebuild. But yes it did have data on the old hard drive. but it does not matter if that data is lost. I can copy it back over. And also when copying it back over will as well tell me if i am having issues on transferring large file folders.
  14. well it will be replacing a hard drive. That is the full syslog that is being shown to me. you see the log.txt file?
  15. I put in a new hard drive and did a preclear. Then I had assigned it to the disk it replaced and hit start array. Click on format disk and it does nothing. I look at the consol and this is what is showing. Once I logged in on the webpage this came up Then when I click on format this come up. log.txt
  16. Lan1 is (The one closest to your VGA connector) is used for IPMI. "The X7SPA-L, X7SPA-H, X7SPA-HF, X7SPE-H and X7SPE-HF supports up to 4GB of unbuffered Non-ECC DDR2 SODIMMs (667/800 MHz in 2 SO DIMM slots)" Manual There is a 4 pin power connector on the mobo by the sata slots. Do NOT connect your PSU to this port. That port is for power exiting the mobo. So example is powering your SSD from the mobo. http://www.supermicro.com/manuals/motherboard/ICH9/MNL-1166.pdf Page 2-24 will tell you how to enable your Lan1 port Page 2-25 will tell you how to clear your CMOS Page 2-29 will tell you how to enable your VGA Page 4-2 will show you your BIOS. (So you maybe be able to do it (Blind)) To enter Bios hit your Delete Key The IPMI setting under the BIOS is under Advanced tab
  17. Not to drag up an old topic but instead of paying sub company's for there servers why wont you go and get a server directly from the data center them self? I have used Softlayer(ThePlanet) for a very long time and never had any issues even during hurricane Ike or any issues that has came into Texas for that matter.
  18. well the question is are you maxing out your cpu already? or are you maxing out your ram. Need to see what is maxing out and go from there.
  19. This is not the issue. You want a HBA. A RAID controller is more difficult to configure if it's compatible at all. The SAT2-MV8 is a PCI-X card. It is backwards compatible with PCI. It should not fit in a PCIe slot. I am aparently talking about a different card and it is a pcie-x8 card. This is the one I have. http://www.supermicro.com/products/accessories/addon/AOC-SAS2LP-MV8.cfm But yes the card that the OP is talking about is a PCI-X card. http://www.supermicro.com/products/accessories/addon/AOC-SAT2-MV8.cfm The question is is it something in the MV8 cards in general?
  20. If it don't work and using windows machine do this "Windows Key" + R CMD ipconfig /flushdns
