  1. Great stuff. I'm using it on a tablet, and it's fine. Good luck with mobile conversion! I've had lots of headaches trying to crowbar table-heavy web-app interfaces into responsive layouts.
  2. Thanks for taking the time - much appreciated. I'm coming from WHS2011 too, and (apart from client backups which I can sort), PVR is the only reason it's turned on. I'm currently using a TBS DVB-S card and and old Hauppage DVB-T card. I'll need to replace the latter anyhow, since it's a PCI card and my unRAID mobo won't support it. I've earmarked a TBS quad tuner DVB-T card, and thinking of upgrading the DVB-S card to a 4-input at the same time (not that I ever watch/record that much at once, but you never know!). I'm up to speed on the principles of it now - thank you. Now unRAID has moved to a bona-fide OS, I'd expect things like custom driver and media support to be baked in (although equally I don't want to see it bloat up and be unsupportable). Just out of interest, what are you guys using to get the TV out the other end (and feel free to ignore if this hijacks the thread)? I had been using Windows Media Center for years, but I've got a Raspberry Pi running OSMC that's only used for live TV. Everything else is Plex->Chromecast. Ideally, it'd be great to get the TV straight to Chromecast, but all Plex implementations seem a bit of a crowbar.
  3. I know the whole "what should and shouldn't be included in stock unRAID has been bought up before, but might it be conceivably possible to come up with a plugin that can add extra drivers to the system on boot? That way you wouldn't need a custom OS build to run extra software. Obviously I'm speaking from ignorance here. That's not to say that I don't appreciate what you're doing here, since I've read through it and it's fantastic. It's just very daunting for me to make the jump from stock to custom Looking at moving from a Windows box running DVBLink to possibly TVHeadend (or stay with DVBLink if I can find a docker template for it).
  4. The dockers autoupdate based on what is available to download from the Plex website: https://plex.tv/downloads/1/archive I'm a little confused here. Plex notified me in the interface - I hadn't visited the forum to find out about an update. And the archive page you've linked to has version 0.9.12.8, whereas the docker has version 0.9.12.4. Granted, it does say "Please install manually" and I can click that text do download 0.9.12.8..., but I have no idea what I should do with that file (if anything)...?
  5. Thanks for the tip. Unfortunately didn't work on this occasion.
  6. Plex notified me that a manual upgrade is required to get the latest version. Is this something I need to wait for a docker update to receive? Sorry, new to dockers.
  7. A couple of webapps I've used now support Android Chrome's "Add to Homescreen" functionality. Essentially, what this does on Android devices (not sure about MS/other devices running Chrome, TBH), is allow the user to put a shortcut on their home screen. When tapped on, the interface loads in full screen mode - just like a HTML5 app, rather than in a browser tab. I'm guessing you don't want to go too brand-centric, or favour one tech over another, but when I've played around with this before (limited use), it's only a call to a small JSON file and doesn't affect the site in any other way. More info here: https://developer.chrome.com/multidevice/android/installtohomescreen Long and short, saves anybody writing an app for unRAID, but there's probably implications I'd not thought of. Just a thought
  8. I keep checking every day. It's worth contacting XCase (if you haven't), since they seem to take some things off their site altogether when they don't have stock (whilst some other things are just listed as out of stock). For example, the case I am looking at buying (the non-pro RM 424) suddenly wasn't there the day I went to buy it. Nor were any of its variations. I think they're expecting an updated version in this week, but it's been several weeks, and to the casual buyer it looks like they don't supply anything that the home server price point. I emailed and contacted them on Facebook (for two different reasons) - they've always been quick to reply. Fingers crossed
  9. Just the one. Its a 10 bay case that I increased to 15 with it. I'll keep you posted.
  10. I'm currently rebuilding a new unraid server and have exactly this in my current one (a 4u xcase with 10 internal drives and a 5-into-3. I was thinking of reusing the existing server as a backup machine, but that's for the future, so I can consider dismantling if you're still looking. Only thing holding me from the new build is...... I'm waiting for xcase to get their new cases in stock!
  11. Thanks for that - I'll look out for decent cables once the case is back in stock. I'd just earmarked ones off the same website as the case for now, but I'll go into more detail. And that's a much quicker parity check than what I'm getting now on my old system.
  12. Hi - as a couple of people are doing, I'm having a huge unRaid upgrade (all but drives and power supply changing). Then I can turn off my app server and give the jobs to unRaid. Existing unRaid is purely a low-spec 14TB NAS. The case I'm looking at (in the UK) has 24 bays on the front, which are accessible via 6 SAS backplanes into a built-in SAS expander (with two mini-SAS ports). I'm therefore looking at using the Supermicro X10SL7-F motherboard, but first need to know whether what I want to do is possible. Can I plug the SAS ports on this board directly into the expander? I assume it needs flashing to IT mode I'm guessing you need two reverse break out cables to get from the motherboard's ports to the expander unRAID will be running Plex and Logitech Media Server (to start with). I'm looking at putting my TV tuner cards in and running a VM for DVBLogic (TV tuner software), if indeed that's possible (that's for another thread). I don't necessarily need uATX - a standard ATX board would be fine, but there are few affordable motherboards out there with on-board SAS, and PCIe SAS HBA cards cost almost as much as the best price I've seen for this board. Truth be told, I'd be using up both expansion slots with TV tuner cards, so more would be welcome, but not essential. The other daunting fact is, if not this board then what?! There are so very many out there! Optional Extra: If it's any help, the case is the non-pro version of this http://www.xcase.co.uk/4u-rackmount-server-cases/x-case-rm-424-pro-with-sas-expander-sgpio-backplane-649-00-x-case.html (which is currently not listed, as they're going through an upgrade - however, same spec, not quite so robust, much cheaper). I'd use the internal slots for an SSD drive. I'm going to hold out until the case is available again, just in case they've upped the backplane/expander card to 12GB, but I'd like to get ready to push the button.
  13. As mentioned, I'm using the stop script by JoeL (http://lime-technology.com/forum/index.php?topic=2781.0, 3rd post down) to stop my array from a command line before running "reboot". This brings my system back up without a parity check, but I'm unsure as to whether the script is still current. I haven't created a new post yet personally, as the UI hasn't stopped on me since 6.0.1 (touch wood).
  14. I'm looking to do exactly the same thing (6 year old low spec server that now needs replacing to migrate all apps over and have one machine running). Therefore keeping an eye on this thread. I don't necessarily need a micro-ATX motherboard, but the onboard SAS of that looks intriguing. I'm looking at replacing my case to one that has 2 mini-SAS connectors built in (that uses an on-board expander to feed 24 drive bays). The cheaper case does without the expander and has 6 SAS backplanes. Currently not sure how you'd go about connecting this up, and the manual doesn't say much. Reverse breakout cable (4xSATA to mini-SAS)?
  15. Apologies, since we appear to be having the same problem and at the moment there are a lot of support threads in action, I thought it prudent to pool resources rather than dilute the issues of others. If you think that the GUI crashes for multiple reasons I'll create a new thread.
  16. In that case, here's my diagnostics file. Machine is pretty much just a NAS drive. Only 2Gb RAM, dual core processor, Gigabyte motherboard - about 6 years old. I can provide more if required. My drives are filling up a little (overall, about 92% full), since I'm currently in the process of converting all vobs to mkvs. I'm awaiting a new case to come in stock so that I can migrate to a SAS backplane. A couple of drives are giving SMART warnings, but it'll have an overhaul once the case arrives. I'll replace the mobo then and add more memory and faster processor, so the issue may go. However, it would help others if it could be identified. Like I say, it may be different from the original poster's, but I've seen a few people commenting that the GUI disappears, so they might be related.
  17. Whilst I may or may not be experiencing the same problem as the OP, my GUI has gone down again. If I log in from Putty and type "diagnostics", I get cp: cannot stat '/boot/config/*.conf': No such file or directory Am I doing something wrong?
  18. True. However you can still get the diagnostics ZIP file created using the 'diagnostics' command from the command line. The result is put into the logs folder on the flash drive. Thank you - must remember that.
  19. I've had this a couple of times also, and will grab a log the next time (happened previously just after installing the community plugin, and just now when batch converting files to mkv, but I've unfortunately rebooted). However, it's worth remembering that you can not get to the tools/diagnostics page when the GUI is no longer running. I'll post back if it happens again. Am I right in saying that you can still get a syslog from the instructions here http://lime-technology.com/wiki/index.php/Troubleshooting#Capturing_your_syslog (all unraid versions section)? Edit: By the way, I've been using Joe L's "stop" script before a reboot command to get a more graceful reboot that doesn't trigger a parity check (http://lime-technology.com/forum/index.php?topic=2781.0, 3rd post down). Is it still OK to use this?
  20. +1 to this. I upgraded during the latter stages of beta releases using the Wiki. Granted, I have a very vanilla system, but if you resign yourself to the fact that the changes from 5->6 are so great that all you are going to retain is basic NAS functionalty (shares, users, basic settings) and read up, it's not a difficult jump. Plus if you've backed up your v5 flash, you can always go back temporarily if it doesn't work first time. Just don't do the upgrade with any other work going on (drive swaps/additions, etc.).
  21. Sorry for resurrecting this for my own gains, but a quick question: I'm upgrading my unRAID case to one with SAS backplanes. Would I be right in thinking that I can get an AOC-SASLP-MV8, disable RAID and plug it into two of the backplanes? Or would I need an HBA card (or SAS support on a motherboard?)? Apologies again - SAS is new to me.
  22. As has been mentioned before, users are using the new Docker aspect of V6 to install Plex Server as the plugin route is no longer the way to go.
  23. GaryCase - you just mentioned in the recently-closed RC thread about the plugin notifications not being correct after a period of time... In Notification settings, there's the option of scheduling a check for the plugin updates - wouldn't this mean that the notifications could be fairly correct? I'll admit, I went into Scheduler to find this setting initially, but it's in Notifications. Is that what you meant?
