  1. I would recommend logging in using ssh and running the "top" command to show what everything is using then post a screenshot here. There is a way to order the list by memory usage but I can't remember how off the top of my head (a quick Google will say how) Jamie
  2. It is indeed. The issue has been happening for a few versions now but I didn't spot it for a little while. It does seem to follow that yes, I've started some extended smart scans on my drives anyway Jamie
  3. So having had a response from Luke on Emby Server's forum i decided to move my EMBY docker to my cache drive and try again, amazingly the docker came up instantly with no issues at all So it seems to be something to do with the fact that my EMBY server is stored in the main array, i would imagine its not a drive fault since everything else is able to write to the array fine but i am going to run an extended smart scan on the system anyway just to check Is there some weird symlink issue i've missed recently? Jamie Edit Ok so this is where i am at now. A fresh install works mapped by disk1 A fresh install works mapped by disk2 A fresh install works mapped by cache A fresh install fails by user0 A fresh install fails by user Seems like a symlink issue maybe? Regards, Jamie
  4. Hi hurricane, Will do, if it's something anyone else is having the link to the forum post is: https://emby.media/community/index.php?/topic/42998-disk-io-error/ Jamie
  5. Hey Everyone, So i'v been unable to use EMBY for around 19 days now at all on my server so i'm wondering if anyone can help with my previous post? I've attached my full system diagnostics as well as logs from 2 dockers, EmbyServer normal and the beta branch. I have 8 dockers other than Emby on the server and none of them are having this problem. Originally it was just filling up the log files with errors but would still load and was still usable. Since then it has done a number of updates and now won't start at all (on live or beta) Things i've tried: Deleting and re-installing both dockers Force updating both dockers Changing both dockers to using the user0 mnt instead of the normal user mnt I have no idea what could be causing this at all, reading the log it seems to all be related to MediaBrowser.Server.Mono.exe and SQLlite issues, help would be amazing. One thing i have yet to try is deleting the entire docker folder and starting again from scratch in case the Emby database is corrupt some how, but i don't want to go down that route yet unless i have to Regards, Jamie Edit: So i just tried a fresh EMBY install in a new folder so it was fresh. I even tried adding in the PUID and PGID values just in case but this has the exact same problems as the others archangel-diagnostics-20161226-1455.zip EmbyServer-log.txt EmbyServerBeta-log.txt
  6. 7. I'm having this exact same issue on the latest beta with windows 10. It only happens on my 1 vm "Jamie - OVMF" and has only started recently (or i only just noticed it) If it helps i have included my diagnostics file, i have noticed that this comes up if i try and load something from the vm that is heavy on disk io such as 3D Mark Firestrike etc. Jamie archangel-diagnostics-20161122-1931.zip
  8. This needs to be added to the boot command you can access it by going to the main tab of the unraid gui and clicking the flash option. I have been having this issue for months and have gone through all the mentioned fixes above but the final option. I have just enabled it on my system to see if this fixes the problem One thing I will say is that I have had a vm playing up for ages where it would try to boot then turn off. I would then have to tell it to boot again before it started I have enabled this and the vm started instantly. As an idea of what I have tried I have updated all bios, reseated cards, changed slots entirely, flashed device bios including my sas controller and none of that helped. Time to see if this works, huge thanks Jamie
  9. As a side note to overcome the ip access issue if your on a newer unraid just leave a screen etc. connected and access unraid directly via the gui - removes the issue of being unable to connect as it's all localhost then
  10. I didn't think it was possible but worth checking. Now just to figure out my weird cpu usage as it doesn't seem to use multi cores at all It may be something new in 6.3rc1 but worth checking first
  11. I've noticed an oddity with this docker. I'm on 6.3rc1 and when the library scan runs it seems to only be using my first core pair, in this case cores 0 and 8 It will 100% one then 100% the other. It uses only 1 of them at a time and never both. I haven't cpu pinned the docker so it should have use of all 16 cores as I would rather it didn't max out single cores making them a lot hotter than the rest Has anyone else seen anything similar? Realistically I want to allow it full usage of my cpu Also with the newer versions there are a lot of acceleration options. Has anyone tried using any of them or is everyone sticking with acceleration off?
  12. Count me in for this one. I have an nvme where my vms are stored which is set in the cache pool. As this drive is quick and I can only have one at the moment I can not add anything else to my cache pool without risking slow downs. Therefore all my shares are not allowed to use the cache as the space on that drive is used for my vms so needs keeping. Whilst right now it would probably work fine with the UD plugin I want to be able to add potentially more nvme devices later on and have some slower ssds for caching which are entirely separate to this nvme drive
  13. Will this rc1 have the new QEMU as mentioned earlier?
  14. http://lime-technology.com/forum/index.php?topic=40937.msg481138#msg481138 Sorry i didn't spot that one earlier squid, many thanks!
  15. I've just started having issues when updating dockers - i have a feeling it may be a docker issue but want to check before going for support I have 2 linuxserver dockers (Apache, Nginx) with updates but when i try to run the update the files are pulled and i am then given the following message: Error: layers from manifest don't match image configuration Is this a docker related issue or something in rc5? I'm inclined to say docker issue
  16. Hi Everyone, First i apologies if this is in the wrong topic or area - this topic is not related to unraid but as so many here have pfSense set ups and recommend using a separate machine i wanted to ask for views on my proposed built Current Setup First off let me give you an overhead of my current set up so give you an idea of how low end things are. My current router is a D-Link DIR-850L Model A router (here) This router served well but now we have more and more network traffic and mobile devices we are seeing issues with the router locking up and needing reboots and being unable to load webpages via wifi even with wifi signal, we are also suffering some dead spots even with a fairly small vitorian brick house. This device connects to a modem using PPPoE Proposed pfSense Build CPU/Mobo: ASRock C2750D4I Avoton C2750 8 Core (here) Memory: 16GB Crucial ECC Unbuffered DDR3 8 GB 1600 MHz UDIMM (here) Storage: 120GB SSD Case: 1U Server Case (here) PSU: 320W 1U Flex ATX (here) I am fairly sure i can install pfSense on the SSD and use the SSD for cache if needed but please correct me if i am wrong This router will need to handle the following: ipSec Site-to-Site OpenVPN - potentially Squid - potentially but not needed DarkStat Snort Country Block This router will need to bridge this site to another so i can access CCTV cameras for remote recording - up to 8mbps through the vpn is all i expect to see constantly. I will also have my unraid server behind this router to allow remote access to important documents and offsite backup for the other property (not huge files - 20mbps maximum throughput due to current internet limitations but wish to cater for up to 1gbps) Power usage is important on this system and i would prefer it to be as quiet as possible - i watercooled my current 4u server so it was silent! Access Point I have been recommended Trendnet access points by work however work have not tested wireless AC models enough to be sure - i do need wireless ac as one machine will be losing its wired connection for a wireless ac connection I have been reading a lot of good reviews for the Ubiquiti UAP-AC-PRO (here) which has wireless AC and i can use the unraid ubiquiti docker for management Any recommendations on which of these to go for would be great - the wireless is streaming multiple 1080p videos and youtube constantly Connections I have an 8 port POE switch already which is soon to be upgraded so everything will be connecting as follows modem to pfsense - logged in using PPPoE pfsense to switch switch to everything else Finishing Up So i don't know what sort of benefits to expect on my current line (60 down, 20 up) but i'm hoping this will be plenty to cater for future line upgrades IPMI on the motherboard is great so i can run it headless from my server rack I don't want to put lower end hardware in the router just in case and this cpu/mobo is not that expensive at all As i have never moved away from commercial routers until now and am going to a completely custom and separated solution that i have never used i wanted to see if anyone here has anything to point out, things to consider and potential pitfalls to my solution above As always any comment is highly appreciated and i look forward to seeing what you all have to say Jamie Edit: So i guess i had better mention some budgets - my budget for router and access point is: £670 Right now my pricing is: CPU/Mobo - £347.48 PSU - £29.96 Case - £35.99 Memory - £81.98 SSD - £39.49 Total: £534.9 Access Point - £131.48 Intended Users 5 Hardwired systems 10 Wireless devices 8 IP CCTV Cams (4mp) - 2 being accessed using the IPSec vpn I'm going for a 1u system to go into my rack without filling up too much space (using 8 of my 15u for servers, and have switches, ups's etc. to add) - my current proposed system should fit in a 1u rack without issues but if it doesn't please let me know
  17. I am indeed, sorry I didn't put the full location I'm writing on my mobile at the moment away from my pc
  18. I've had a windows 10 install by default have the virtualization disabled in the feature list. One thing to check is that this is enabled. It sounds daft but it's worth checking
  19. What about a trendnet ap like below? http://www.trendnet.com/products/wifi/AC-access-points/AC1200/TEW-821DAP Not sure if you have poe+ or not. We sell a lot of trendnet stuff at work and dont have many issues
  20. I'm running blue iris on a vm with 2 cores (of 5960x) and 2gb memory on Windows 10. 25% cpu usage when recording a single 3mp camera Love the software and the mobile app is great for when your out. I use it all the time
  21. Johnnie is correct. In the new version it is supported and works well as a cache drive. I've had 3 vms running off it for months now Supposedly the unassigned devices plugin works with nvme drives as well if you want to try it on your current version - I have yet to try this method so if you want to try it let me know how it goes please Regards, Jamie
  22. Sorry in advance - this is more of an answer to potential questions that may arise from the latest large windows 10 update So having just updated 2 of my vms to the latest windows 10 - and a 2 hours wait i found my vms had an issue so here is what i had to do for my updates to work Running the updates directly with a normal windows reboot fails on a blue screen - so instead get to the "Restart Now" option and do an "Update and Shutdown" from the normal windows shutdown instead Go to unraid and edit the VM to allow it to only use core 0 and start the vm back up - the update will then work flawlessly and run through to desktop After updating i then shut down my vms and allocated my cores back. After booting i found that windows only saw 1 core even though more were set and were correct in the xml file and the log files I then tried removing some cores and rebooting - this had no affect I then did a forced vm shutdown while windows was running from unraid directly as at this point i was willing to try anything - this resolved my issue On reboot windows was forced to re-check the cpu count and picked up all 8 i allocated, i did the exact same on my other vm and 4 showed us as expected. I have no idea why this worked but it did for me and isn't something i would have normally tried Please note that doing this may cause windows to try to do boot recover and may even cause boot issues so do this at your own risk! it worked for me but may not for others Regards, Jamie
  23. I've always had issues with avast and in rc2 now have issues where installing Aug will cause Explorer in Windows 10 to start to stutter and actually had a vm I couldnt shut down I'm doing windows defender and malware bytes. I then run a hitman Pro scan every so often as well and run PIA vpn which now has a built in anti malware (apparently)
  24. So here is an interesting one - i have upgraded to rc2 and my memory issue seems to have calmed down rather a lot So after upgrading i found one of my vm's (Jamie) would not boot due to some weird windows issue causing an update loop which kept failing, removing itself then applying again So i did a fresh re-install and put avg free edition on the vm - the vm instantly lost internet access and explorer stopped working the second avg installed - it was so bad i couldn't shutdown, reboot or uninstall avg Another windows 10 install later with no avg and everything seems to be working, this install has the newer virtio drivers and memory usage has dropped substantially VM Cat: 10.5G Res - virtio from pre 6.1.9 VM Jamie: 10.1G Res - latest virtio driver VM CCTV: 2483M Res - virtio from beta 23 Having the 3 vms running, my dockers and everything else i have been able to remove the swapfile plugin and my system is down to 24.8G memory usage So i don't know what resolved this or helps to lower the usage but in total the following has happened since my memory usage was so high Unraid updates New windows install New virtio drivers While 2.1G overhead is a little over what i want i am very happy with it being this high and hopefully things will start to go down even more as time goes by So all in i have now got a drop of 2.8G memory usage on just that 1 vm since reporting this issue Jamie
  25. The device is one of my on board plx chips as my board has 7 16x slots so there isn't a way to chase it down to a specific device which is annoying At least I know it's not a full issue on the driver, May just be with my newer card, it's not causing any issues other than filling my log files so not major Jamie
