  1. That was the last thing that happed before it locked up. This is when I rebooted the server later the same day. I have the log mirrored to the USB boot drive. Aug 19 19:11:34 mccserverur01 kernel: microcode: microcode updated early to revision 0x71a, date = 2020-03-24
  2. Sometimes when I reboot my server it comes up in a video resolution not supported by the monitor. I have two questions. 1. Is there a way to fix the video resolution so it always starts up using the same resolution? 2. Once the server is started how do you change the resolution of the screen without rebooting the server? Thanks in advance.

  4. This may just be a coincidence, but after I installed the MyServers Plugin my system has locked up twice. This is the only thing that has changed. Prior to installing the plugin system ran for over 50 days with no issues. The only hardware that has changed in my drives for the array. I had to rebuild the array. Any ideas on what the issue may be. Diagnostic data is attached. I have removed the plugin to see if the issue goes away. It seems it locked up around Aug 19 00:20:13. 7. The new release has made the GUI mode extremely slooooow. Motherboard: Z9PE-D16 Using built in ASPEED AST2300 + 16MB VRAM VGA port for the console. This is only effecting the Console. Is the slowness because of the under powered motherboard builtin GPU/VGA port? If so, is there a way to fall back to the old less taxing GUI? Thanks in advance mccserverur01-diagnostics-20180921-2321.zip

  11. My system has been very stable on the latest version of unRaid 6.4.1. I do not remember what BIOS settings I changed. I have not tried my USB cards with 4 USB3 controllers on them yet. It stable so I do not want to mess with it. On another post I noted that I did the following: remove/change the following in syslinux.cfg append line: remove: vfio_iommu_type1.allow_unsafe_interrupts=1 change: pci-stub-ids to vfio-pci.ids syslinux.cfg append vfio-pci.ids=10de:1b81,10de:10f0,10de:13c2,10de:0fbb intel_iommu=on iommu=pt initrd=/bzroot,/bzroot-gui vfio-pci.ids are my two GTX1070 gpus. 12. Thanks for the information, I will try it out when I get back from Michigan and let you know how it worked out.
  13. What think I need to do is bind both of my USB3 PCI-Express cards to the vfio-pci driver or does the xen-pciback.hide option make it so the kernel will never try to use the two devices? I attach them to different virtual machines. When I tried this using the ID 1b6f:7052, one of the cards worked and it locked the other one up. Currently I am not binding the vfio-pci driver to either card and so far no issues but I would really rather not have the kernel ever touch them if possible.

  15. @saarg my system finally stabilized, not really sure what I changed to fix the issue but I am sure it was one of the following: changed a few BIOS settings removed the StarTech PEXUSB3S44V USB3 card from my system, this car will work when in the computer BIOS but as soon as the kernel loads it goes to shit. turned off Enable PCIe ACS Override under VM Manager removed vfio_iommu_type1.allow_unsafe_interrupts=1 from the append line in syslinux.cfg
  16. In order for this to work, you must be running unRaid 6.4 rc7 or greater. 1. Place the attached file in the /boot/config/plugins/dockerMan/templates-user folder. 2. On my server I place all of my Docker folders under /mnt/cache/Dockers. In your Docker folder, create the following directories: Ark Ark/server Ark/Steam. 3. Goto Docker tab in unRaid and click Add Container 4. Under "Select a template" select "my-Ark" 5. Set your Ark Path, mine is set to /mnt/cache/Dockers/Ark/server 6. Set your Steam Path, mine is set to /mnt/cache/Dockers/Ark/Steam 7. Set your session name 8. Set your server password 9. Set your admin password 10. Click Apply, it will take a while for the server to download so just keep check on the docker log file. Once you get the server running on your LAN, you will then have to forward some ports to your unRaid server. Forward the following ports to your server: Port(s) Protocols Server IP Server Port 7777 Both your ip 7777 7778 Both " 7778 27000-27014 Both " 27000-27014 27015 Both " 27015 If you have further question let me know. Hopefully this will work for you. my-Ark.xml
  17. I am still having issues getting two add in USB controllers to work with 2 different virtual machines. So currently here are my two cards: IOMMU group 44 [1b6f:7052] 82:00.0 USB controller: Etron Technology, Inc. EJ188/EJ198 USB 3.0 Host Controller (rev ff) IOMMU group 45 [1b6f:7052] 84:00.0 USB controller: Etron Technology, Inc. Its like the 2 cards are being used by the first virtual machine to boot or the driver is really confused. So how can I bind vfio-pci to each card separately so both virtual machines can use their assigned USB card without conflicting with each other? The second VM will boot, it just is either really slow taking input from keyboard or it locks up. Does anyone know how this works? "A further trick we can use is to craft an ids list using the advanced parsing of PCI vendor and class attributes to create an option list that will claim any Nvidia or AMD GPU or audio device: vfio-pci.ids=1002:ffffffff:ffffffff:ffffffff:00030000:ffff00ff..." Thanks
  18. About a month ago, I had two more of my original 8 gskill memory sticks go bad, 4 have failed out of 8. I woke up one morning and the system had crashed hard! I then start figuring out which sticks were bad and eventually got the system to boot on 6 sticks of memory. Ran the memory test and it appeared to be stable. After that I returned those to gskill which replaced them. I ordered 64 gb of ECC REG memory that is compatible with my ASUS Z9PE-D16 motherboard that is guaranteed for life. Everything has been stable until I updated to rc7a. This particular card has never worked in unRaid. A couple of other users have tried but also failed. It works when the BIOS is controlling it but the moment the kernel takes over it goes to shit fast! Right now I put my original USB 3 Etron controller back in the server and all is well. There just seems to be no interest in getting this card working but it would be perfect for virtual machines. According to Startech it works on RedHat and Ubuntu LTS versions. Why it will not work on unRaid is still a mystery. I am about to perform a firmware update on the card to see if that will allow it to work any better.

  20. It did not. I cannot even get 1 of the 4 ports to recognize a USB device in unRaid. This module could still be usefull for USB cards that support the protocol but it did not fix the issue with the StarTech PEXUSB3S44V card. Once the next RC comes out I am going to do some more experimenting with the card. Basically, the kernel enumerates the card but it does not actually see devices attached to the card.
  21. I have a working Ark docker on my system with a custom compiled kernel. The next unRaid RC will have IA32 Emulation enabled in the kernel which will allow the steamcmd (32 bit) to run and install Ark server. Current Release Candidate is unRaid 6.4 RC6. From what I have been told RC7 will have IA32 Emulation enabled.
  22. True, I have one on the way and have built a custom 6.4 RC6 kernel to test with. This particular card provides 4 ports and each port is its own controller. It is perfect for the individual that has multiple virtual machines but only has room for a single USB3 expansion card like me. This card requires the kernel to have USB attached SCSI Protocal (UASP) enabled to work if you just want to use it on any other Linux operating system. I am thinking that even though it is bound to the vfio driver, maybe the kernel still need UASP support to communicate to the controller. It can be compiled as a module so if it is not needed it will not be loaded. I will report back my findings on the UASP Feature Request thread. Hopefully I will have more information after July 1 when I get back home.
  23. Would it be possible to add a module for USB Attached SCSI (CONFIG_USB_UAS) protocol? This is required to support a card like the StarTech PEXUSB3S44V. There are a number of users trying to get this card working. The UnRaid kernel enumerates the card but it does not actually work. This card has 4 independant USB3 controllers and it looks as if you could pass each controller to a different virtual machine. 24. On another thread @Siberys had a StarTech PEXUSB3S44V USB3 card that has 4 separate controllers. 25. That's what I was afraid I would be told :(. I guess I will need to buy another card and riser cable to get around the GPU's. Thanks for the reply
