  1. would be good in the Unraid boot menu where you have an option titled like “location, time zone, langrage and keyboard settings” option and then Unraid can detect your time zone, and therefore your language and then your keyboard layout. However, the settings could be changed manually from the location settings using the arrow keys and enter button.
  2. Problem So, this is an odd request. But hear me out. I’d love to see wi-fi support on Unraid. Reason why is because there are times especially in rented accommodation where you are given the internet as you don’t own it so if like me there are no ethernet ports then though. As the wi-fi routers don’t have a WPS push option, so I can’t get an ethernet to wi-fi adapter that connects via WPS button. I have tried to bridge the ethernet to a laptop. However, it is much slower and unreliable than on normal wi-fi. I know ethernet is much faster and more reliable. Yes, if there was an ethernet port then I could connect via an ethernet cable. I know some people are like “what wi-fi? It’s a server”. Yes, I can see that. But try bringing your server to my rented accommodation block, and you will find your server is as much use, as a chocolate firefighter because of no ethernet, or WPS push on the routers. Solution So, adding wi-fi support should be ok to do. But how it could be baked into Unraid is a simple idea. The wi-fi option could be on the Unraid boot screen at the very bottom under “boot Unraid in safe mode with no plugins” as the name “wi-fi settings”. If you select it, you get a list of wi-fi names that your wi-fi adapter can pick up. Which you select by using the arrow keys and the enter button. Then if the wi-fi connection is protected, you then have a popup to enter in your password. If connected successfully, a message appears saying “connected successfully”. You then go back to the Unraid boot menu and select the boot Unraid option as normal. You could design it so that it looks a bit like the Manjaro architect wi-fi selection tool. Please consider adding this feature as it would make Unraid much more enjoyable in my rented accommodation, and my Unraid machine would not be sitting under my bed, collecting dust just because of 1 simple missing feature.
  3. ok. it looks nice and more modern. also to ask any chance of wifi support. it sounds odd but main reason is beacuse of the rented accomidation im staying at has no ethernet ports and there is no wps push on the router, so i cant use a ethernet to wifi adapter. i have tried bridging using my wifi on the laptop but its very slow and unreliable. its funny how theres other things like flexraid and other things with raid in the name. seams to me like some people set up a burgerking nextdoor to a burgerking, and calling themselfs, burgerking finally, is it just 1 developer, who develops unraid?
  4. so insted of lime technolagy, it should be called orange technolagy, ok also why is it called unraid not unlime or something that origanly. fianlly why .net not .com?
  5. why has unraid rebranded itself to a orange theme? insted i would keep the desgin but replace the orange colours with green and then the unraid logo insted of the red and orange wavy logo, insted have a mimerlist, simple green line as if its been cut though. how many people work for unraid? sounds like its just 1 person.
  6. nice i took the red desgin someone somewhere here posted a simlar banner. its funny as im like right lets make a skynet banner make 1 then someone else has 1 thats similar to mine.
  7. i can see that and your right as i did try bridging my unraid machine with my laptop but did find it slow. docker and manjaro updates were slow with the ocational timeouts. im sure its beacuse theres like 100 people crouded onto 1 router. so im going to try a raspberry pi. besided we should be getting a single router for each floor. my motherbourd has built in wifi support. and you say "There exist wired to wireless adapters you can use." so what exsamples? could i get unraid to use the wifi moduale insted of the ethernet. better to have wifi support to be able to use unraid than my server sit under my bed gathering dust beacuse there are no ethernet ports in my room and theres no wps push to connect on the routers
  8. youve gave me you`ve gave me an idea. what if there is a plugin where it can automaticlly rotate between unraid banners saved in a certain folder? or have the desert hills change scene over time, mojave style?
  9. When are we going to see WiFi support for times when there is no Ethernet socket. For example where I'm staying there is no wps on the router ao I can't use a Ethernet to WiFi adapter, my router doesn't support bridge mode and the only option is to unreliably bridge my connection with a computer
  10. what me getting a usb 3.1 sandisk ultra fit https://www.amazon.co.uk/dp/B077VXV323/ref=twister_B0798JLHJN?_encoding=UTF8&psc=1 and plugging it into a usb 2 header using a adapter so its inside the motherboard?
  11. ah ok i am using the x299 mini itx motherboard. i have got a Kingston usb 2 plugged in the back of the usb 3.1 socket and boots fine. it does sound odd but im hoping i can find 1 that doesn't have a cap because if its plugged in all the time the what am i going to do with the cap? but if its a usb 3 plugged into usb 2 then that ok? or should it all be usb 2? i know im sounding really fussy but i want to make use of the ports and keep everything neat and tidy. its 1 of then things where i want to do it once and get it right.
  12. how is usb 2 more reliable? is it because usb 3 makes no difference. so why bother with a usb 3 drive. i am after a much smaller usb stick than what i have now and i am considering this https://www.amazon.co.uk/dp/B00GIOCTSS/?coliid=I2CGQ277NN74EN&colid=26UCA3G9VVA48&psc=1&ref_=lv_ov_lig_dp because its allot smaller than what i have now. or do i go with a tried and trusted sandisk that's as small as possible? i do plan on making use of the usb 2 header on my motherboard using this adapter https://www.amazon.co.uk/dp/B000IV6S9S/?coliid=I2QHMGAO9YMDJ8&colid=26UCA3G9VVA48&psc=0&ref_=lv_ov_lig_dp_it so i dont have a usb stick sticking out the back of the pc. am i mad with this idea? or have you seen worse? well if not then it would be good if they undated the tool to support this feature.
  13. so this just a idea and question. can unraid support any sized usb stick? i have heard that its only 32gb max. why is this? why cant unraid support any sized usb stick? if it is a max of 32gb then why not just lift the restriction or develop a work around?
  14. few questions with duplicati. 1st of i get a update available on the docker and i click update and let it do its thing. yet afterwards there's a button shown for update available. not sure why. also how would i set duplicati to just make a mirror of the stuff on the share in 1 encrypted aes zip file? finally if i download the aes file and i know the backup password, then could i open it using 7zip?
  15. the thing is, im trying to install gnome edition. and just get this starting tls startup/shutdown i dont even get to the install page. however the kde version works fine no problems. im running the latest stable version of unraid. in virtual box, my manjaro gnome iso works fine no issues. so how can a free vm program work fine but a paid for hypervisor doesn't? its really annoying because with unraid being a linux hypervisor, im like this should work with anything then fails miserably and really puts me from committing to unraid. i guess that other have had the problem before but why have limetech not fixed this issue. or is there something i need to change? its not the iso as it works fine so why cant unraid?
  16. so i had have installed binhexes krusader docker and i wanted to make a slight change so that the docker thinks the home folder is atcherly the root on unraid. i did this and the command failed. then in my dockers, krusader had gone! dont know why this had happened. im in the process of trying to reinstall the docker as its been sitting here for a while downloading. its very bad that this has happened. yet this is supposed to be "enterprise class" well im not sure why a docker would just go like that on a simple command. im thinking if this cant handle a simple change then what hope do i have storing my stuff. ok it does seam like its just a bug but problems with vms, trying to install dockers that hang on install. makes me all the more unsure if this is ok or whether there's quite a few issues to sort. on paper its ok and works ok but i cant believe a simple change could just break a docker plug-in. i am running the latest beta. so weather that's why if got this issue.
  17. just found the web gui option, what would i put in the web ui option?
  18. hi there 1st post here. i have seen a psot about getting manjaro to run on unraid. however i dont seam to have alot of luck right now as it boots fine and i select boot manjaro gnome and it gets stuck at starting tls startup/shutdown as i wait then come back hours later and its still there. i came across a similar issue here from a while back. i did find a intresting idea in the simliar problem that says Disabling MHWD to avoid VESA fallback Issue was due to MHWD running during boot creating a fallback xorg conf setting the driver to vesa which is not supported on EFI systems. It’s not clear if the Manjaro devs will address the behaviour but it can be worked around by disabling MHWD from running during boot. At the boot selection prompt, press e and add to the end systemd.mask=mhwd-live.service. X will detect and handle drivers itself fine, the kernel driver for the VGA device lspci -nnk | grep VGA -A2 should show itself in use. but im not sure how to do this i have tired the seabios option but again makes no difference. i have tried a fresh iso incase it was corrupted. i know the iso works fine as i installed it successfully in VirtualBox. i then tried to convert the vmdk from VirtualBox where manjaro is installed, to a img but got a error even though it worked fine here https://youtu.be/i3vwevALaLU?t=596 i dono if its because its something different or what but i did feel it was worth a go. so has anyone got this to work on unraid or even any arch based distro? i have chosen the arch vm template as manjaro is based on arch so it should work but in my case not quite. any ideas? thank-you
