  1. Reading through the forums over the past 7 years I know I'm not the only one that this happens to
  2. 1. I have been running unrade for 7 years and I'm on my 8th USB flash drive. I have tried different brands and types with and without LEDs... I lose one flash drive per year using unraid. I have had zero other hardware failures in the same amount of time. So no, it's not the same. 2. A system can have more than one hot spare
  3. I have 2 issues that worry me if I were to pass away... 1. USB flash is likely to die within a year. My USB dies every year. 2. No "hot-spare" feature to auto rebuild a failed drive. With these 2 unaddressed issues, my server, my legacy, would not survive without intervention for long after my death. This worries me.
  4. My cache was bad. purchased a new drive at store started array with VM OFF / DOCKER OFF terminal mkdir /mnt/disk7/CACHE-BACKUP/ cp -Rfvp /mnt/cache/* /mnt/disk7/CACHE-BACKUP/ wait stop array. remove old cache drive. start array. stop array. add new cache drive. start array. cp -Rfvp /mnt/disk7/CACHE-BACKUP/* /mnt/cache/ start array. enable docker, enable VM
  5. I have been having issues with docker lately. Upon reboot it does not auto start. docker file at 75% full Manually starting has worked once per boot. shutting down docker and re-starting does not work. failed to start error. Last night docker service shut down. Reboot machine. Docker wont start, even manually. I just got a message from "fix common problems" it says my cache is mounted read only?!? I found a similar issue with another user, his drive was dying. EDIT: i just got back from the store and installed a new 2tb nvme. not sure how to do a cache swap though. spaceinvaderone video on the subject requires docker working and using krusader. EDIT: 6 hours later I get a failed disk error on my parity 0 drive rebooted, cant start array in maintenance mode. more diags attached. EDIT: purchased an NVME its mounted as unassigned. currently cp -Rfvp /mnt/cache/* /mnt/disk7/CACHE-BACKUP/ big-z-diagnostics-20240204-0906.zip big-z-diagnostics-20240204-1617.zip
  6. I just got a message from "fix common problems" it says my cache is mounted read only?!?
  7. yes it can change if you have more than 1 USB device. if you only have one it will always be 0 by-id is the only sure way.

  9. ok here. have fun! syslogs.zip
  10. I finally captures a syslog! but yeah my LSI 9201 HBA... has Adaptec 71805 so kinda pointless posting them eh?
  11. my system locked up again over the last hour. My syslog folder is empty. I guess I didnt have it setup correct, like i was wondering in my previous post. trying these settings now.... still not confident
  12. I have 1 VM runnning. it has been running for years. It crashed first. I was accessing home assistant remotely on my phone. it was working. I tried to open my Blue Iris app, entered the wrong password a couple times (forgot i changed it) Then Blue Iris stopped responding. Home Assistant and Emby were still working... ... Then they werent. could access Unraid GUI for a couple minutes.... .... Then I couldn't syslog server turned on... this look good?
  13. yeah i've froze 4 times since my upgrade 2 days ago from .4 to .6
  14. EspHome - sometimes I need the usb device /dev/ttyAMC0 in the docker config, sometimes I dont. if its in the config, not plugged in, and I try to start the docker, it fails, then a month later when I need it again... I have to re-add it, usually having to google it again too... cant we just have an enable checkbox beside devices in the config?
  15. " LAN settings will go back to default DHCP " would this include Docker IPs?
  16. Its a threadripper 1950x on a Zenith Extreme mobo. This processor includes 60 PCIe lanes with PHY of 16 lanes may each have a maximum of 8 PCIe ports The ASUS ROG Xenith Extreme is an excellent AMD X399 workstation motherboard with a massive 64x PCIe 3.0 lanes ready for GPUs, storage, and networking needs. I doubt I am out of PCI-E lanes How do you know I have a hardware problem? Is there something in the logs? DIAGS file 0 downloads, 11 hours after your post. No you did not read my logs. telling me there is a "problem" does not help me learn anything. show your work the disabled/port down sfp ports are disabled due to no cable being plugged into them. but the add-in card has been removed, so I require less lanes now than before. I would like to know how I fix the problem I have now? Not the problem I had before... Interface rules has no Eth0 this is the question I need answered.
  17. I have an odd issue. I had 1 onboard NIC. everything was good. added 2 port SFP card, everything was goood, they added as Eth1 & 2 I tried to add a 10gb NIC rj45 addon card, it took over as Eth0 and pushed the onboard to E th1 and the SFPs to Eth2 & 3 caused to many issues so removed the add-in card. Upon reboot could not access GUI over lan, booted into GUI mode My system still shows Eth0 thru Eth3, 4 assignments, 3 ports? To get things working I had to bond Eth0 and eth1 some parts of unraid see 3 interfaces, some see 4 big-z-diagnostics-20231108-2104.zip
  18. You just made me realize the old docker has not updated its github in over a year. I assume this is why you created your fork? Has the original by @Jako stopped development? have you talked with him? He has made commits on other projects this year, but not to double-take so he's still alive, but does not look like he's working on double-take anymore
  19. rebuilt after formatting disk.... but no emulated folders when disk was removed... dunno. but it works now. files are good too. not corrupted. working. thanks guys!
  20. hmm.... rebuilding something... but there was nothing when unmounted, no emulated data. still said unmountable... hmm... we'll see what gets written
  21. screw it. mounted, formatting... says data-rebuild paused?? wtf?
  22. pretty sure. disk was installed for couple weeks before i got the error
  23. Sorry for the late replay. busy life. Covid for the past week. couldnt deal with anything. So... unselected disk, array online No emulated data available. fresh diags below. again. i dont care about the missing data. How do i get back to good state? select disk and format? then resync? big-z-diagnostics-20231013-1656.zip
  24. Sorry for the delay. busy life. Reboot, tried to UNSELECT disk 11 to check emulated data. get this warning (see screenshot). sounds bad. reselected the bad disk 11. started array new fresh diags. big-z-diagnostics-20230924-1723.zip
