  • Sure, template updated

  • I see the PUID/PGID variables in the template. They won't have any effect with this docker image and should be removed. (UMASK too I think, though I'm not sure, it may have effect on the system level.

  • Glad to hear! We're limited by the options that yt-dlp implements, so if they don't do Embed, we won't have it...

If it helps, I would also love to get it back into the community apps.

Nothing but "no video formats found" errors.  No videos will download.  How to fix?

It would be great if the metube will get back to the community apps.

Is there an alternative to metube?  I use it for bulk channel downloads for archiving.

Try TubeArchivist.

I just got cookies going after a fair bit of trial and error.

I added two entries, one a path for the cookies folder, and the other is an environment variable to specify the YTDL_OPTIONS.

Path:

Host Path: /mnt/user/appdata/MeTube/cookies

Environment Variable:

image.png.a684c131c329f36446ff5914869e8174.png

Key: YTDL_OPTIONS

Value: {"cookiefile":"/cookies/cookies.txt"}

Exported my cookie file from my browser, put it into the correct folder on my server, restarted MeTube and it works.

Hi, sorry for ressurecting an old post, but thanks for the solution @TCW_NZ <3 !
Just a note, metube didn't like JSON formatted cookies for some reason, switch to Netscape HTTP Cookie file
I'm on Brave so that might be some weird default in my end though !

Its because the video is age restricted most likely. See post above from @TCW_NZ

Where the heck does Metube store it's settings in Unraid? It doesn't have the usual /config option to save things int he appdata folder like every other docker does.

If I delete the Metube docker and reinstall it, everything is still there. Settings, history, etc. is all still there.

How do I totally delete every trace of Metube?

I have a similar problem, i accidently pasted a mix playlist who made Metube go bonkers and just keep downloading random content, even after i uninstall / reinstall it.

Anyone know how to wipe config/settings that persist reinstall?

Edit:

Nevermind, figured it out. Delete the hidden folder .metube inside of your download path clears the config.

Took me a while to figur eout too. Not like any other app I've used

but now i get a gray/black screen no options... i uninstalled re installed nothing.. i blew out my docker.img and re installed... and still black screen

ive tried different browswers they all black on IE its white

the logs are

INFO:main:Listening on 0.0.0.0:8081
INFO:ytdl:Initializing DownloadQueue
Setting umask to 000
Creating download directory (/downloads), state directory (/downloads/.metube), and temp dir (/downloads)
Changing ownership of download and state directories to 99:100
Running MeTube as user 99:100

so not sure what happened? how do i fix ? i even deleted the .metube files under the downloads folder

I know this is no longer maintained. That makes me sad.

When I go to the metube web interface, "Connecting to server...." takes upwards of 5-10 minutes sometimes. Confused as to why.

Either my search was really bad or I couldn't find the answer. I got metube up and running:

It grabs and downloads the files I need. But then I can't play them back. Clicking them just gives me an error:

Where am I going wrong?

Ok, so I must be missing something. I would like to change the umask to be rw/rw/rw. I have added a variable called umask with key umask and value of 022 and nothing is changed. Is this how it should be done? With current permissions I cannot move files around without running the permission repair utility.

I know this is a long shot as it seems this app is no longer supported, but for me it is perfect as I stumble around YT and find a music video I like and have this save it as an MP3 for me.

Thanks Matt

After making my own docker container this issue went away. I'm not sure if it's a env variable that was wrong on the pre-built app or the file output template (invalid characters) but here's what mine looks like and the output template string

%(playlist_title&Playlist |)S%(playlist_title|)S%(playlist_uploader& by |)S%(playlist_uploader|)S%(playlist_autonumber& - |)S%(playlist_autonumber|)S%(playlist_count& of |)S%(playlist_count|)S%(playlist_autonumber& - |)S%(uploader,creator|UNKNOWN_AUTHOR)S - %(title|UNKNOWN_TITLE)S - %(release_date>%Y-%m-%d,upload_date>%Y-%m-%d|UNKNOWN_DATE)S.%(ext)s'

hopefully this helps.
