Avoid minimizing the FreeFileSync window as similarly to other containers using this setup there is no way to bring it back. If someone knows a solution ping me in here... As found by @wacko37 below a middle-click will bring up a window list

Right-clicking in the blank space allows opening other instances.

Hi,

I installed FreeFileSync on my unRAID server yesterday and started a disk migration of ±9TB. I'm new to both unRAID and FreeFileSync but saw a blue arrow pointing down saying "minimize to notification area" I thought that was meant for the sync/transfer dialog. Instead -everything- was 'minimized' but I don't know where it went or how to get it back and I'm left with a big black screen.

Since I'm using unRAID I'm using FreeFileSync from the available apps (which I believe downloads a docker) and then runs from within my browser.

Any advice? The transfer is pretty long (40+ hours) and don't want to interrupt that but I can't see the progress either which is kind of annoying. This work-around doesn't seem to do anything for me :<

Click your mouse middle button/wheel and it should pop up a window where you can unminimize the app

To turn it into the Donation version, just copy your FreeFileSync_*VERSION*_[Donation_Edition]_Install.key to /opt/freefilesync/Resources/Registered.dat

and reboot your container.

Sorry to bump this thread. But it doesn’t work here. It only displays a pop up with the desktop available but I can’t take the app back to the screen.

Still works here

Stupid question time: I'm not seeing that path anywhere...could you be more specific? 🤓

 /opt/freefilesync/Resources/

Is that supposed to be in appdata? I only see a "Logs" folder in mine.

Thanks.

It's a path in the container. Put your Registered.dat file in the appdata folder and add a new path mapping to the template.

That worked perfect, thanks!

A Updated Template for this and maybe other Dings for all was great.

Hey @Kilrah , great docker thank you, quick question - how long after an update before you push out a new template?

  • Author

Whenever I notice there's an update basically.

IMAGE AND TEMPLATE REPLACED WITH V2 - please uninstall and install the new V2 template from CA, see first post.

V2 updates the environment that was years old, has working logging, adds a taskbar, supports choosing PUID/PGID and optionally running as root. Paths were changed to allow the user stuff, the v2 image MUST NOT be used with the old template that puts the sync paths within the /home/freefilesync appdata folder as it gets chown'd to the selected user.

Appdata folder can remain.

Hi Kilrah, first I want to thank you for this docker! It works great out of the box. Been using it for a long time as desktop. I will be trying it in the next weeks, anyway I got this error, is there a fix for it? I am not running the docker as root.

path1 is by default set to read-only, if that is OK i.e. you're only going to modify the right side/path2 then just ignore that warning.

If you want write access to both edit the access mode in the template.

Sweet, works perfect

Seems like I forgot to reply but I looked and the built-in dark mode on linux required a lot of hacking to work with manual patches/rebuilds of wxWidgets so that was a big nope to maintain.
