Plex Media Server

Featured Replies

I've installed the plugin, changed my library and tmp dirs to /mnt/cache/.plugins/plex & /mnt/cache/.plugins/plex/tmp, set to enable and hit apply. unRAID has been loading for about 5 minutes now and i can't load the main unraid interface either.

you should be able to simply reload the page after hitting apply. what browser are you using?

When i browse to <ip>:32400 i get an XML error but <ip>:32400/manage works ok (i think?). Just FYI, not sure how to diagnose from here.

<ip>:32400 always gives a xml page, which is used by plex clients.

to manage you server, you always have to go to <ip>:32400/manage

Update:

Solution: Close the plugin window, then it all works ok. BUG?

It's a known bug, which i also have with my sickbeard plugin. but als i wrote above, reloading the page is the simple workaround

I would suggest doing it in batches. For one, it will be easier to fix wrong matches and secondly you might annoy google. :) Some people have been blocked by google for API abuse, a while back when Plex .9 first came out. Though they might have fixed it so that with the newer releases as I haven't seen this problem in a while.

might want to edit your install instructions which say to put the .plg file in the "plugin" folder, but after rebooting it expects it to be in the "plugins" folder (i just had this happen),

could reproduce it.

installing plugin: plex-0.9.3.5-noarch-0.4ds
Warning: simplexml_load_file(): I/O warning : failed to load external entity "plex-0.9.3.5-noarch-0.4ds.plg" in /usr/local/sbin/installplg on line 13
xml parse error

I was in the wrong directory.

If this file exists  "/boot/config/plugin/plex-0.9.3.5-noarch-0.2ds.plg" there should be no Problem.

I have Plex 0.9.5.1 installed via the plugin, but when I start the Plex Media Manager, I can't configure the Library Sections to point to my media.  It's as if the page is read-only.  No "+" or "-" buttons in lower-left corner.  Any suggestions on what I might be doing wrong?

unRAID Version = 5.0-beta13

Browser = Firefox 3.6.23

Plex_Settings.cfg

have you tried those big buttons in the middle of the page?

(below the headline "add media to your library"...)

that should do the trick (I hope)

maybe you have to disable some browser extensions for this page, like noscript or something like that.

i believe, they removed those + and - buttons when adding the new "home" page.

you can only add a section from this page.

the little "gear"-button on the bottom left is only active when you are inside of a section.

The big buttons don't have any effect.  When you hover the cursor over them, the cursor changes to a finger pointer.  But as soon as you click, it turns back to an arrow pointer.

you should probably ask on the plex support forum.

i guess it has something to do with the browser you are using or some extensions...

Try a different browser. A script or pop-up is probably being blocked. A window should come up where you can add you media folders.

Im currently using Stokkes version but was going to give 9.5 a try. Do i need to completely remove everything and start over? Also, I may be missing something, but when i click your download link i get a wall of text.

right click and save link as, is what you are searching for.

you only have to remove the other plugin.

and maybe move your plex library to the right directory. (look at the update instructions for more info)

Alright, i got this up and running and have my old library loaded. Im having one problem however. Im unable to play some avi files. Im also seeing a message that there is low memory and then the process for ffmpeg is killed by the server. This happens with every video and does not affect the playback. I can start an mkv for example and ffmpeg will be killed 10 minutes in, but i will still be able to finish the movie without ffmpeg running. Im at work right now and can post the error message when i get home.

IMHO is ffmpeg only needed for transcoding.

Where is you tmp directory located? is it "/tmp" then the transcoded files are in your RAM.

I would suggest you set you "tmp" to your cache drive.

Ok, i'll give that a try when i get home. I also noticed that with the new version, the option to update library when changes are detected seems to be working nicely. Thanks for your help.

Hmm... I've now begun to notice that even though the memory issue seems much more under control, and the process continues to run (even though the PID seems to change to a larger number throughout the day), I lose connectivity to PMS.  I have to disable and re-enable the plugin in order to access the Web Media Manager or access the library.

Anyone else experience this?

No I haven't, but I have another strange behavior:

I have now 2 "\Plex\ Media\ Server" processes running.

Spidi,

Yes, I have two processes with the new PMS.  I am wondering if there is a dedicated transcoder process now in addition to the library server itself...

  • Author

I don't think so, because I haven't done anything until now (19:30) and the process has forked at 5 a clock this morning.

Hate to keep guessing, but I will anyway... :) Library scanner?  I'll test that tonight when I get home.

  • Author

Library Scanner is a possibility, because "Plex Media Scanner.log" was from 5:00 and 2 tv-shows are missing. (i get them after 5:00)

and the management webpage was "refreshing" the tv-show section.

Wouldn't ffmpeg show up as the process from the transcoding? I am not having this problem with two plex processes, but i am having a problem with transcoding SD avi files.

When i play an mkv, i see high (95-100% on each core) cpu usage from ffmpeg. When i play an avi, i see the same usage, except from Plex Media Server and only 2-5% from ffmpeg. Not sure if this is intended or not, but im unable to play most xvid files due to very slow (2-4KBps) transcoding times.

yes id does, (tested right now with 1080p Movie watched on iPhone).

It forks a ffmpeg process witch fires up my AMD (2.51GHz AMD AthlonTM Dual Core 4850e.K) to 180%.

But I can watch it perfectly no stutter nothing.
