As another data point, I have it working with --runtime=nvidia as an Extra Parameter instead of --gpus=all.

Hello

I´ve got some problems with immich.,

I tried changing network type and now it´s not working anymore.. Before i delete and reinstall it. Im interested in knowing if it´s possible to keep the imported picstures, from 2 different users seperate, when importing them next time??

Thank you..

hey  @Mattti1912 seems like you're having cascading issues there huh. I'm no expert in this stuff, but here's what I'd do to start addressing your reported issues:

1. unraid + tailscale, can't upload. So you said you can't upload. So I guess it's working, but you can't upload. Can you upload from home on the home wifi? There would be some sort of write permissions, or POST permissions that would apply to a user via VPN (tailscale = VPN) that would not apply to a local user. That's the crux on that issue. I have also seen issues of folks getting stuck on uploading videos because the POST size in some setting somewhere times out before the video can be uploaded.

If you start to get into port numbers, you're getting off base there. I assume from the wording of your question that tailscale + immich are working, so port numbers isn't related to that problem. I don't think.

2. changing network type. I think the default unraid network types are HOST and BRIDGE, and then you can define other network types. It's my understanding that one defined network can't talk to another one. So tailscale and any docker that uses tailscale has to be on the same type of network. I don't personally use tailscale integration. I had setup VPN reverse proxy before tailscale was built in, and access mine via a subdomain, like photos.myname.com. But: there should be unraid + tailscale setup videos. I suggest you start at the beginning of one of those videos and check all your steps one by one. Eventually they'll point to some setting somewhere that got screwed up and you'll have your "ah hah" and it'll start working again.

3. you may not need to delete and reinstall. Go through a few setup videos and check all your settings.

3.1 keeping data between un-installations. You'll also need to do research on this one. Initially when you setup Immich you pointed it towards a location to store all your assets (pics + vids). When uninstalling immich, I don't think it will also delete your photo library. But JUST IN CASE, you probably want to make a copy of the entire library somewhere. Then go ahead and uninstall + reinstall.

The software is really getting pretty solid and usually the only thing that uninstall + reinstall will do for you is put settings back to default. You have access to all those settings (which is almost certainly why it got screwed up in the first place! ;)   ) and when you find the settings that are wrong, or not matching, or not harmonious with another semi-correct setting somewhere, it will all start working again.

3.2 different users. Once you define the location for your immich library, it will create sub-directories for each user. When you save one, you  should back up a level and just do them both.

3.3 reinstalling and rediscovering assets. I'm pretty sure ... yes: my pics are in:

/mnt/user/memories/immich/profile/51c63710-e673-40ae-9756-47dd1106f84c/

and my username would be only my first name. So you should have two folders in /mnt/user/memories/immich/profile, one folder for each user. That's what you're going to want to save. And when you reinstall, you'll need Immich to identify those folders and link them to the new username. I have a hunch my first name doesn't automagically become 51c63710-e673-40ae-9756-47dd1106f84c, it's probably a bit random, or date linked or something who knows, so unless that recognition is built in, you'll need to figure that out too. Might be External Libraries.

Hope this gets you barking up the right trees!

Oh, and one more thing: in this long youtube video with Immich and FUTO, who recently purchased the immich team and software, they are planning on rolling out a cloud hosted version of immich. It's always the latest, it always works, and you pay for it. So that might be more your speed, when that feature setup becomes available. Until then: enjoy tinkering, and remember to setup and test your backups.

Photos from different users are never combined, they're always completely separated by design. One user account has nothing to do with another account.

You need to look at this in two stages.

1. Get Immich working on its own.

2. Get Tailscale working

When both of those are satisfied, Immich will "just work" over Tailscale. In this thread, figure out Immich without Tailscale, including Admin and user setups and uploads. Do everything on your LAN. Make it work with a domain name for ease of use. Then jump over to the Tailscale Plugin thread to set up Tailscale and diagnose any possible issues.

If Immich works when first set up and then fails after installing Tailscale, it's nearly 100% caused by bad Tailscale settings.

Hello again..

I've just re-installed the immich docker and the postgresql container. I set it up again..

Now it works again.:)

Thank you!:)

Hello again..

Now i got new problem, i hope you can help me with:)

I think i have an idea of what the problem is.. i cant upload anything. so i think, the permissions is wrong. i´ve installed the immich on another new share.. But im not sure how i give immich and the permissions to edit that share:???

Hope you can help..

Thank you. regards

You can check the folder within your share via Unraid's GUI. As long as your permissions are as below (default) it should work as expected.

You may have another issue not related to folder permissions - the immich log should offer some ideas.

Hello everyone! Can please someone help/advise on how to resolve this issue. I have been searching on forums and on Google, without any luck. I think I have followed all instructions from Space Invador One's tutorials and other YouTube videos but can't figure out why immich is not connecting to databse.

@ahror get into the console via the Immich docker, use the command line version of sql connect and manually test out the connection. Your server should have a static internal IP. Like 10.xxxx or one of those 192.168.xxxx then there will be a port to connect to as well. If you can connect via the Immich command line, it should work via the regular docker ways.

@rutherfordThank you so much! Figured it out. Working.

@ahror you should tell folks what you did, more missed, to make it work so someone searching can find your suggestion. Glad you’re up, happy holidays.

Instead of a typical postgresql repo, you'll need to use the repo: tensorchord/pgvecto-rs:pg14-v0.2.0

Mine is set to postgres 14 (which is the officially supported version), but from what I understand other versions will work.

Even though 0.4.0 of tensorchord/pgvecto.rs is available, stay on 0.2.0.

Hello everyone
Yesterday I updated unraiod to 6.12.14 and now immich doesn't work.
I can't start PostgreSQL_Immich get this error message.

Since PostgreSQL_Immic doesn't work, immich doesn't work

Any chance you have a backup of the database? You can try to spin up a new postgreSQL container and see if it starts without issue. If so, restore the SQL backup to that container and point Immich to it.

If no backup, then we'll have to hope someone more knowledgeable than me knows what that error indicates and how to solve it.

I can say I just updated to 6.12.14 a couple days ago and everything still ran afterward with no issue. So it's not an inherent issue with 6.12.14 and postgreSQL.

Good luck with it!

(I'd also suggest posting in the support channel of the Immich Discord server. Might have better luck than here.)

if you have a backup great. If you don’t, you’ll need to rebuild the whole thing.

Thanks for the answers
How do I know if there is a backup? (I guess I don't have any)
How do I create backups, so this doesn't happen again?

@berka There are two things about backups: the database (holds structure, metadata, search data, etc.), the assets (pics, videos JPG MOV etc.).

We're focusing on the database part of it for the moment. Log into the Admin account > Settings > Administration > Backup Settings.

I'm not sure what the default settings are here. I don't remember messing with my settings, and this was what was in there:

image.thumb.png.d200edfabb0d8f14ec81ab718c5fe921.png

Not sure where the backups live. I'd get into your command line and start poking around in the directories.

https://immich.app/docs/administration/backup-and-restore/

Oh, cool there it is:

Quote

Immich will automatically create database backups by default. The backups are stored in UPLOAD_LOCATION/backups.
You can adjust the schedule and amount of kept backups in the admin settings.
By default, Immich will keep the last 14 backups and create a new backup every day at 2:00 AM.

FYI for anyone trying to install this in December 2024 - I kept getting error messages with tensorchord/pgvecto-rs:pg16-v0.2.0 and required tensorchord/pgvecto-rs:pg16-v0.3.0

Interesting. I recently asked Alex about that and he said we should still be on 0.2.0 even though 0.4.0 is available.
I'm using PG14, though. Maybe there's an issue with 16 only?

I cannot for the life of me figure out how to delete and start over. I have ample backups of the photos that I currently have in immich. I tried removing just the containers from Unraid's docker page. When I reinstalled, all my config and photos was there. I would like to Reset and Restart on Immich. I am using SpaceinvaderOne's Postgresql_Immich and Immich containers. I am not too handy with command line, so didn't want to go finger happy with ti and delete something that I didn't need to.

Please help! Thank you!

You have to remove the Immich config files from the appdata share. Either that or you need to delete the hidden docker volumes through cmdline.

Thanks for replying. Which files would those be? Any guides that you could please share?

I am not seeing the config flies in appdata share folder for immich.
