August 15, 201213 yr Ok. So the original plugin has a script called h2control that is absent in the W-W build - that's what I thought. Also (as I suspected) the original plugin does not maintain any useful persistant data - you still need to use a separate CLI script (h2control). No problem. I'll dig for h2control in the original (W-W build works just fine - I'll probably try to add some of h2control's capability to the emhttp ui and forward to original creator). you made a new script for this with an updated version ? can you share that one with us ? original poster is not around any more...
August 28, 201213 yr Is there a compiled version for unRAID 5 RC6? I think a new tun/tap kernel module version is needed for kernel 3.4.4.
September 26, 201213 yr ok i updated the package myself but be aware i don't take any responsability for this.... this is the first time i do something like this only thing i did is updated the 3 files in usr/local/logmein-hamachi made a new package with makepkg uploaded that package to my public folder on dropbox and updated the plg attached is updated plg Please rename .txt to .plg ~# hamachi check-update Checking for updates .. ok You are already running the latest version of Hamachi the instructions are still same as the OP first post and the gui page in utils/user applications still not working decently somebody with real coding skills will have to solve that didn't update the tun/tap as no clue where to find that logmein-hamachi-1.0.3-noarch.txt
October 28, 201213 yr the tgz file from dropbox seems to have gone 404 can someone ether update this plugin or provide that file?
October 29, 201213 yr updated plg attached please remember to rename to .plg logmein-hamachi-1.0.3-noarch.txt
October 29, 201213 yr The whole /var/lib/logmein-hamachi directory never gets touched by the plugin code - and that's where all the config data is kept. There's also no means in the plugin for establishing the initial connection. If you can't manage the VPN, or save settings, then I'm not sure what the plugin is for. At a minimum, I would have thought the plugin would have collected things like network ID and password - then had the ability to do a 'hamachi login' and a 'hamachi join' with some user feedback - at least a "connected" indication. Once connected, I would have presumed a "save" action would have copied /var/lib/logmein-hamachi to /boot/config/plugins/logmein-hamachi (and then on reboot, the directory would be cp'd back). There's none of this in the latest plugin - so I'm pretty sure that the expectation was that the plugin is just for starting/stopping the hamachi daemon and everything else is still via the command line. Hey, We need a plugin that do everything through the GUI. not only start and stop, so everything that cold be done when typing hamachi --help shall be possible from the plugin, can that be fixed? //Peter
October 29, 201213 yr I'm no longer using Hamachi, so I don't test it properly, but just compiled a new packet: http://gfjardim.googlecode.com/files/hamachi-2.1.0.76-i686-unRAID.tgz Hamachi version is 2.1.0.76.
October 30, 201213 yr Made a small change to the plugin to show the account and nickname correctly, and fixed some text overlap. Also commented out a line that removed the plugin dir on the flash drive, I cant think of a good reason why it would do that. I would cause me to loose my config every reboot. Rename txt to plg logmein-hamachi-1.0.4-noarch.txt
November 14, 201213 yr Made some more changes, there is now a button to save your settings, it runs /etc/rc.d/rc.hamachi save This should cause hamachi when installed to actually restore your settings... Since I never read the inital post on the tgz I never knew about it... I am also trying to get it to apply a network an password from the config page, unfortunatly I only get it to say its failed, busy. So any help with that would be apreaciated logmein-hamachi-1.0.5-noarch.txt
November 18, 201213 yr Currently Hamachi can stay open in the background so you're always connected to unattended computers. We're moving this feature to only paid subscriptions to help fund future improvements. Please note that for casual, personal use, Hamachi will still be free. But if you run Hamachi as a service, you can choose from our subscription packages, starting at just $29/year. Just got that message tonight, not sure what the implications on unraid use would be since its technically always open anyway, or if they will change something on the server side to work around this.
November 18, 201213 yr Looks like another step in killing the free mesh network version of Hamachi that Logmein inherited. http://b.logme.in/2012/11/07/changes-to-hamachi-on-november-19th/ I haven't upgraded my desktop clients, since they changed the clients such that you had to run the desktop UI and not be abel to run it in the background. The deafening silence from Logmein to the complaints from users from this change and the subsequent reduction in the number of clients in the free version did signal their intensions very clearly. Though, you can also get around the 5 client limit by chaining multiple networks, but I suppose they will close down this loop hole soon. Loved how easy Hamachi was to setup and get running, but I suppose all good things must come to an end. Can't really begrudge them for trying to capitalize on their property. Thank heavens we that have alternatives. Well, at least the timing was good for me. I'm hoping to score a DD-WRT compatible router this black friday and transition over to Openvpn.
November 18, 201213 yr Well that link confirms that our linux clients will not be affected, so people using hamachi on unraid to access their media are still safe for now,
November 26, 201213 yr I have a question about Hamachi. I am not too familiar with it, although I used to run logmein on my WHS to remote log in... I understand that unRAID isn't secure... 1. Is Hamachi safe to use? (Since a password is required etc...) Is it equivalent to logmein on a WHS machine? 2. Is something like openvpn on a dd-wrt router safer? (I'm not too familiar with how a VPN works either, my only reference point is logmein on a WHS machine that I was happy with). Thanks
April 9, 201313 yr 1. Yes it's safe - it's a secure VPN. Just use a secure password. 2. They're both essentially the same technology - the only difference is Hamachi has a centralised management point.
April 9, 201313 yr If you want a free solution with full control, I would suggest going with the dd-wrt vpn. Additional advantage is that you can use vpn on your iphone or android phones. So far there is no hamachi vpn client for iphone, but a hack for android. Logmein is steady screwing down the free version of Hamachi and other of its free services. To be fair, they do offer a great service/product (one of the easiest to setup) at a reasonable subscription fee. Only thing that turned me off personally was the abrupt nature of their changes (http://b.logme.in/2012/11/07/changes-to-hamachi-on-november-19th/) and it's continued overt determination to force free user to paid. Calcification : Just to be clear (as there are sometimes confusion on this). Logmein is a Remote Desktop service and Logmein Hamachi is Virtual Private Network service. VPN is basically a way of connecting machines/devices on different networks as if they were on the same network. Private, as in the data that goes over this VPN is encrypted. (How secure, is another debate). So if you have a VPN setup, then you could all the things Logmein offers as long as you are on a device that is a member of the VPN.
April 15, 201313 yr I'm sorry, but the thread is a little bit confusing. The last updated file can be put in the first post? Could somebody write a "readme" in order to properly install and configure the plug-in? I'm sorry, I would like to use it but really cannot make it work... Thank you
April 16, 201313 yr Look at the post 33 from ChronoStriker1 for the download. I'm using this without issue. Download the 1.0.5 file, save to plugins directory, rename the txt extension to plg and the installplg or reboot as your prefer. You will need to go to the Hamachi site and create your account and network. Then I personally edit the cfg files manually but you could use the GUI to enter the correct details (not tried this - it just worked for me). Another option that might be easier for troubleshooting is that once the plugin is installed you can actually do everything from the command line. Telnet to UnRAID then enter Hamachi to see the current configuration and status. For first time use hamachi login hamachi set-nick <nickname> hamachi attach <LogMeIn account> Enter one last time to check all is good hamachi Then you should be able to install the Hamachi client on your remote PC and browse to the server folders. Hope this helps. Tolax
January 15, 201412 yr I know this hasn't been discussed in a while but any chance of a new plugin and the new version of hamachi? Thanks!
January 19, 201412 yr I'm troubleshooting mine right now as it isn't connecting even though status says "logged in". I think the older plugin still works, but i'm just troubleshooting. Does anyone know how to make Hamachi automatically start on boot? I just need to run command "h2control start" on boot.
January 19, 201412 yr The 1.0.5 one seems to work for me. I had to manually run the login command the first time tho. Sent from my Nexus 5 using Tapatalk
January 20, 201412 yr It's been a long time since I installed this so I don't remember the details, but the plugin is still working for me too.
