JonathanM
Spaces in computer names aren't really supported. Try adding an underscore, like this NAS_STORAGE. Link to comment
pete25
not working. i dont belive this iv just set this all up and now iv messed it up. i can acsses my unraid and put files on it and so on i just cant acsess the web gui now. i get this message when i try This webpage is not available The server at nas_storage can't be found, because the DNS lookup failed. DNS is the network service that translates a website's name to its Internet address. This error is most often caused by having no connection to the Internet or a misconfigured network. It can also be caused by an unresponsive DNS server or a firewall preventing Google Chrome from accessing the network. Here are some suggestions: Reload this webpage later. Check your Internet connection. Restart any router, modem, or other network devices you may be using. Check your DNS settings. Contact your network administrator if you're not sure what this means. Try disabling network prediction by following these steps: Go to the wrench menu > Options > Under the Hood and deselect "Predict network actions to improve page load performance." If this does not resolve the issue, we recommend selecting this option again for improved performance. Add Google Chrome as a permitted program in your firewall's or antivirus software's settings. If it is already a permitted program, try deleting it from the list of permitted programs and adding it again. If you use a proxy server, check your proxy settings or contact your network administrator to make sure the proxy server is working. If you don't believe you should be using a proxy server, adjust your proxy settings: Go to the wrench menu > Options > Under the Hood > Change proxy settings... > LAN Settings and deselect the "Use a proxy server for your LAN" checkbox. It might be caching the old name of the server. Also, try connected to the web interface using the IP address of the server and not the name. Link to comment
pete25
How do i find out the ip address of my unraid ? i will restart my router now Link to comment
dgaschk
The IP address can be found by entering "ifconfig eth0" on the console or checking in the router and deducing which address is assigned to the server. Link to comment

jespeed
Hello, I have done the same thing before. I have found that once you have your system working the way you want it's a good ideal to back up your unRaid flash to a safe place. This at least allows an easy way to get back to a working system if you make a config mistake. Take care, Jim S. Link to comment
kizer
Personally I make sure my ip is static so no matter what my name is, http://192.168.1.127 can still be accessed. Link to comment
jespeed
Kizer, I do the same with all my network gear. It's nice knowing the ip address is always the same. Have a good one, Jim S. Link to comment
MikeL
I am having a similar problem. I changed the name of my server from tower02 to starship-enterprise, I can still get to the webgui, but not the network share. I have rebooted unraid, cable modem, router, and the switch, but it still does not show up in the network. I have changed the name of tower other times and it always worked, and even now, if I change it to a shorter name it works. I have tried "_" and "-", and even no space between starship, and enterprise, but nothing works. Is there a limiting factor in the number of characters that can be used in the name? That has got to be the issue here, I just changed the name to The_Matrix, and everything worked almost instantly. Link to comment
