February 12, 200917 yr I hope I can step to 0.01 too. Anybody having problems with this beta? I will be upgrading sometime this weekend and i will let you know how it goes. I have finals and a lot of stuff due for class this week so i did not want to spend the time fixing a problem should one happen.
February 12, 200917 yr BubbaRaid version 0.01.02 is now posted. You can use the upgrade link in BubbaRaid, or the link in the OP to install manually. I was planning to install this (it will be my first bubbaQ install, not an upgrade from a prior version). I was waiting for the dust to settle on this before installing. Can someone confirm that this is a stable version to install?
February 12, 200917 yr Author I'm still waiting too. I tried it on 3 systems, adnd it worked fine. NSL has had problems. I'm waiting on someone else to say yea or ney.
February 12, 200917 yr Just to chime in and say that I have the latest bubbaRAID running on my rig and all seems okay as far as syslog and useability is concerned.
February 12, 200917 yr I'm still waiting too. I tried it on 3 systems, adnd it worked fine. NSL has had problems. I'm waiting on someone else to say yea or ney. NLS man, NLS ...any idea what is wrong with my system? Do you see in the syslog what happens from some point onwards? (I think sdf)
February 13, 200917 yr Author ...any idea what is wrong with my system? Nope. Do you see in the syslog what happens from some point onwards? (I think sdf) The problem is much higher up... part of the USB subsystem in not being inited properly... which is causing the flash to fail to mount.
February 13, 200917 yr Wait... flash fails to mount, but when I login on the main console (VGA out) and list /by_name I DO SEE "UNRAID" and CAN mount it! This is how I sent you the syslog. So something delays. What can I do? Record a video of my boot procedure?
February 13, 200917 yr What is the expected machine requirements to run this? For example, I have the basic machine with a 128MB flash and 512MB of memory. Will this work? If so could we get that info added to the first page? I think I read it somewhere in the 45+ pages, but can't remember. thanks, dave EDIT: OK I found it: "My target is a server with 500MB RAM and 1GB flash." Looks like I need a bigger flash drive.
February 15, 200917 yr Hey bubbaQ, Just wanted to chime in and say that the upgrade went fine for me. Everything seems to be working properly. If need be i can send you syslogs from before the upgrade and after the upgrade. Not sure if it will help diagnose NLS's problem or not. The only thing i would like to ask is if there is a possibility of including something like s3cmd could be included. There is a web interface for s3cmd here. I have been wanting to implement something for offsite storage and since Mozy does not work with network shares i figured i would go with Amazons solution. Then i found this s3cmd tool and the web interface and figured it would be something that could be added to BubbaRaid. I think it would make a very good addition to the list of apps. Thanks for all your hard work on BubbaRaid bubbaQ EDIT: Seems that i might have spoken to soon. I have been messing around a little more and while everything starts up just fine and runs perfectly well, rtorrent/wtorrent seems to be screwed up for me. rtorrent and wtorrent start up just fine and function… somewhat. When i try to add a torrent through the web interface i get this error: Impossible to create file on given directory, please check permisions. I have checked the permissions on the torrents, auto, downloading, and complete folders and they are all the same. I did manage to get the torrent started b adding it to the auto folder. While doing that work i prefer to do it by going through the web interface. If you need anything else form me let me know.
February 15, 200917 yr I have that problem with .21 too (but only after I started from scratch and installed unRAID stock + .18 + .21)... 0.01.XX still doesn't work for me.
February 15, 200917 yr So i figured i should go ahead and recreate the torrents folder and all the ones contained within to see if that would fix the permissions problem. It did not. I will try to do some searching around to see what is going on, but not being able to add torrents through the web interface is annoying for me. bubbaQ if you have any pointers let me know and i will try them on my system.
February 15, 200917 yr prostuff1: I doubt this will help one bit but I was running a previous version of bubbaRAID with r/wTorrent and then upgraded and it continued to work fine. I've just used it to torrent myself Slackware 12.2 so I can start on some development work

Mine is as follows and i just want to see if yours is the same: drwxr-xr-x 5 root root 128 Feb 15 11:06 torrents/ drwxr-xr-x 2 root root 48 Feb 15 11:06 torrents/auto/ drwxr-xr-x 2 root root 48 Feb 15 11:06 torrents/complete/ drwxr-xr-x 3 root root 80 Feb 15 11:06 torrents/downloading/ drwxr-xr-x 2 root root 88 Feb 15 14:15 torrents/downloading/rtorrent.session/ I can chmod 777 the folders but not sure that would help. The folder permissions were 777 before i recreated them. EDIT: I have also noticed that i cannot stop rtorrent. I have tried stopping it 5-6 times but i get this message every time: Stopping rtorrent: rtorrent. rTorrent daemon did not stop, and reported error:Stopping rtorrent: rtorrent.
February 16, 200917 yr Author Three possibilities: 1. take out wtorrent and rtorrnet, and have no torrent ability in BubbaRaid. 2. Take out wtorrent, and you just use rtorrent by hand 3. Someone fix the wTorrent code. My options are limited to 1 and 2. If someone wants #3, they are on their own. I'm sick of wTorrent and rTorrent. So someone else needs to fix it, 'cause I don't have the time or inclination.... there is way to much other work on my plate that is much more important.
February 16, 200917 yr It took a couple days before I was able to test the new BubbaRAID (was taking a dremel to the computer case ) but wanted to comment: APCUSPD is autistarting (yay!) APCUSPD emails are working over Gmail! (YAY! YAY! YAY!) All seems to be working well. One small oddity I noticed after installing the upgrade: When I started BubbaRAID, I was unable to access the server through //tower for several minutes after starting, and had to use the ip address instead. Slightly annoying, since unMENU's default links use the server name, and also since the computer is dynamically assigned an IP by the router (yes, I know, I should fix that), but no big deal, and the problem mysteriously went away after a few minutes. Still, thought I'd ask if anyone else ran across this. Again, thanks for the SSL support! Zithras (we now return you to your regularly scheduled help request ) Edit: I am not running bittorrent on this yet - indeed, I have no hard drives in the system as of yet, so when I say 'working well' I mean those aspects I've tested already.

I understand your frustration with rtorrent and wtorrent. Is there any chance that the upgrade of wtorrent to r93 has caused the problem? If so, then possibly going back to the previous version will fix it. I like to allow access to the wtorrent page to the outside world (i know not safe), but i have it protected via password. That allows me to add stuff while i am at school, or home for the weekend at my parents. If i could figure out how to get access to the /torrents/auto folder then i guess i would be happy with that workaround. I am doing a preclear on a new disk that is going to be going into my array soon, so i can't mess with the server right this second. Once i get the chance i will probably downgrade to .18 then try an upgrade. If that fails i will downgrade to .18 then upgrade to .21 (the last complete working version for me). Also, any input on the inclusion of the S3cmd stuff??
February 16, 200917 yr S3cmd stuff Not gonna happen. Fair enough. Is there any particular reason why we have to keep using wtorrent as the front end for rtorrent. I am not particularly familiar with how any of them work, but i understand the general concepts. I have been doing some searching for web front ends for rtorrent and came across this one. It looks to be very nice and pretty complete. It is based off the uTorrent code for the web front end which is, from my experience pretty darn good. When i used a windows machine (my HTPC which was on most of the time) i would use the utorrent web interface with no problems. Thanks for your hard work bubbaQ
February 16, 200917 yr @prostuff: I'll give that a bash when I'm back from work and see what output I get. @bubbaQ: Can you tell me the command to make the bubba_portal.fs file? Is it using cramfs? I am experimenting at the moment with the goal of creating a much better, more user friendly front end to everything that is going on, initially I am aiming to get it going under the personal web space area of bubbaRaid. Does anyone have any insights into light weight open source theme/plugin based systems that could be used for this? There are a lot out there, as demonstrated by the following pages: http://www.webresourcesdepot.com/19-promising-php-template-engines/ http://www.whenpenguinsattack.com/2006/07/19/php-template-engine-roundup/
February 16, 200917 yr I think the wtorrent problem COULD be related to the update to r93. Maybe when I reinstalled my .18 -> .21 (as my 0.01 fails), I managed to keep 0.01's wtorrent. I'll look into it. For now nTorrent is ok, even though it is a client app, unlike wtorrent's integration with the whole server. What I want to find, is why 0.0.1.XX doesn't work for me at all. Anything else BubbaQ you want me to look? I am really thinking of making my whole boot a video grab (!) to see if you can catch any extra info from there.
February 16, 200917 yr Author What I want to find, is why 0.0.1.XX doesn't work for me at all. Anything else BubbaQ you want me to look? Nope. Until someone else can reproduce the problem, I'm chalking it up to a flakey mobo on your end.
February 16, 200917 yr @prostuff: My folder permissions are the same as yours for my torrent folders.
February 16, 200917 yr My (not very limited) experience says that when software A, consistently works (along with everything else in the past) and new software B consistently doesn't, then it's software B. I will try to look at the matter as deep as I can and then maybe I have some new data for you anyway.
