AVS-14 Server?

Featured Replies

Hey Tom,

Any plans to do a 14 x 3.5inch hdd server case? With an option to only get the case?

Cheers

Tom is planning to offer the AVS-10/4 server case.  It will include the complete case with all drive bays and case fans, but no power supply or motherboard.

Not quite a clone but close.

More information will be forthcoming, just hold your horses for now.

Just so it isn't a clone of a clone.  My name is not Steve ;D

Oooo, Tom has (maybe) a partner/wife/husband/significant other!  :)

There goes the rumor mill!  ;D

Well, regardless of whether Tom#2 is a clone, partner, wife, business associate, employee, significant other, or just another alias for Tom, it'd be nice to know the PRICE of the bare server chassis  :)

I suspect we will in the not-too-distant future.

He's up to 4/11 now, but I have to say they all seem very good.

We've gotten more out of him in the series of a couple hours than we have out of Tom in the span of a couple months.

It is indeed refreshing to have some actual STATUS ... and even better to know that the long wait for v5 is very close to over !!  A release next week will make it "only" 29 months between releases !!!

While this doesn't make it any better.

Years ago, when I had a ReadyNAS we waited over 2 years to get a firmware upgrade from a 2.4 kernel to 2.6 and to get developer rights on our own boxes.

i'll go ahead and take the credit for getting Tom #2 to post up, although I'm sure i had NOTHING to do with it ;)

welcome Tom H.

Not sure where Dougy's post went, but...

Most software products ship with known defects, some are well known and covered in README or errata, sometimes just in a developer's heart.

And then there are the unknown defects which the customers find and report after release.

unRAID v5.0 will be the same.

It seems no one wants to wait any longer, so the schedule is set. unRAID v5.0 will be done.

There is a phrase of note, done is better than perfect.

I'd like to thank Tom and Tom, and all the other players.

Oh, you asked about another product, yeah, I bet there will be other cases, with more drives. First there is this one, and my bet would be for a maxi box next, with perhaps another of some size in between coming after.  But if you have a pressing need, there are suppliers on the forum now.
