  • Ugh!  I have done this to myself before.     The VMDK boot works just fine with 6.4.0, as along as there is a passthrough USB key.  My issue was I had a label on the VMDK called "UNRAID".  I

Awesome thank you Zeron!

Guess beta 12's kernel was a no go? I think a lot of folks are going to stay on beta 12 after the b13 issues.

+1 on b12 until the b13 issues are sorted out. Can you please elaborate on what does vm-tools help with? I would love to have the ability of some programs (like Plex) bypassing the VPN. (not related to vm tools at all)

EDIT: open vm tools: http://open-vm-tools.sourceforge.net/about.php

Finally work with unRAID 6.

Requires the Powerdown package.

Currently compiled for the beta13 Kernel.  Will update to B14 when it is out assuming they do not switch to kernel 3.19 as it will not yet compile with that kernel version.

I also bit the bullet and went to b14. Working great here Zeron!! Thank you! Do you have a donation page?

  • 1 month later...

just upgraded to 14b and this is the first plugin i've installed.  many thanks.

Is this only for unraid running as a vmware vm? Do I need this plugin for unraid 6.x running on real hardware and using say xen to run other vms?

Ah shoot.  Upgraded unRAID to beta15 and forgot about this plugin.

Getting 'Plugin was built for Kernel 3.18.5 but you have 3.19.4'

Any update coming?  :)

Is the warning something to worry about?

It shouldn't cause any problems, but I have released an updated version with this warning fixed.

Good luck with that.  :-\

We are trying to follow a similar releaes process as the linux kernel.  What they call "linux-next" is our "betas".  The transition to "-rc" means simply: "no new features, bug fixes only."  At some point -rc becomes "stable".  I will also point out: we have no problem updating an entire package to address a bug (within reason), and we view the linux kernel as just another package.

Hopefully Limetech will not change the Kernel version before the final release of V6

Tom released -rc3 with kernel 4.0.4, because of some important BTRFS fixes.  And -rc4 is in testing...

Is the power down package/plugin that is required for this VMTools plugin to work just the one that can be installed through unMenu?

I don't use unMenu so I don't know which powerdown package it provides.

This is the one I use:

Is there a link still available for this plugin that will work with version 6b15 (old kernel)?  I had to roll back to the old kernel since the new one is giving me USB device reset errors.

Need confirmation first :)
