April 12, 201610 yr That's what is needed -- wasn't aware there was a Windows version of APCUPSD, but that's exactly what's needed. Just let the UnRAiD server be the Master, and then any other PC's can be controlled as slaves and will shut down when the Master says to :-)
April 12, 201610 yr Attached is a sample apcupsd.conf file for a Windows slave machine. Lots of comments in there so that it's easy to make changes. The main program comes from here... https://sourceforge.net/projects/apcupsd/ apcupsd.conf
April 12, 201610 yr Been running APCUPSD with unRAID master / Windows slave for about as long as I have been using unRAID. Its system tray icon in Windows is my main indicator that unRAID is booted up and ready to access since my unRAID is headless.
April 12, 201610 yr Someone kindly (in a PM) pointed me a link to the location of the apcupsd manual as, apparently, it is not on the APC website. Here is the link: http://www.apcupsd.org/manual/manual.html Thanks to jonathanm

You are probably correct as it was probably hearsay that I came across some years back. I just checked on Wikipedia and found that it is the free software equivalent of propriety APC Powerchute software. Apparently, there is also a Windows version of the apcupsd software. I didn't do any research but if Powerchute does not work to link the PC to the unRAID server via Ethernet then the Windows version of apcupsd should do the job.
April 13, 201610 yr That's correct => APCUPSD is NOT software provided by APC. They only provide PowerChute, which does not support master/slave setups. I was fairly sure there was some 3rd party software that would do this (as I noted earlier) ... I just wasn't aware that it was in fact APCUPSD.
April 13, 201610 yr Just let the UnRAiD server be the Master, and then any other PC's can be controlled as slaves and will shut down when the Master says to :-) To be strictly correct, the slaves don't shut down when the master says so. They take the UPS data concerning power status, battery status, time running on batteries that is shared by the master, and then they make their own decision when to shut down based on that data. That's why it's important that the slaves are set to shut down significantly sooner than that master after a mains failure. If the master started to shut down first, the slaves would stop receiving UPS data, and might continue to run until the master switch of the UPS without the slaves getting any further warning. In my case, I allow only 1 minute running on batteries for the slave before it shuts down, but I allow 10 minutes for the master. Even if the slave takes a few minutes to shut down, for some reason, it is pretty much guaranteed to shut down cleanly before the master begins to shut down. It also has the secondary benefit of maximising the amount of stored energy in the UPS that the master can use.
April 18, 201610 yr Does anyone know if the Cyberpower pfclcd line is supported by unRAID? Yes. Have the CyberPower CP1000PFCLCD connected to a HP N54L unRAID server running 6.1.9 currently. Curious - what behavior are you seeing when you set "Turn off UPS after shutdown:" to Yes? For me, when I pull the UPS power from the house, it does a graceful shutdown of unRAID as expected, but then it appears per the UPS LCD display to set a shutdown timer for 60 minutes on my UPS (same model as yours). At the end of the shutdown timer, it briefly shows a power on timer, with a 3 min duration. The timer never begins counting. Then the UPS LCD goes black and all lights are off. I cannot see if there is any way to adjust the 60 or 3 min timers. If I then plug the UPS back in to house power, nothing happens until I press the UPS power button. Upon turning on the UPS, my server fires up as well without my touching it. My goal here is for unRAID to tell my UPS to turn itself off after unRAID shutdown. Unfortunately, the killpower command unRAID puts at the very end of /etc/rc.d/rc.6 initiates this hour long shutdown timer on my UPS model instead. I'm guessing that CyberPower handles this a little different than APC does and thats why it works for APC folks. I'd love to know if I'm doing something wrong though. I really want my server to shutdown and start back up after power outages vs staying down. Thx

Thx Don't know much about the the behavior of Cyperpower UPS but the restart of your server on reapplication of power is probably controlled by a setting in your BIOS. Have a careful check through the power settings section of the BIOS. (Possibly, you might have to download and read the manuals from the manufacturer! )

I do have this enabled and it is working. As I mentioned, simply powering on the UPS after it shuts off provides power to my server and it turns on without my touching it. Also tested yanking power cord from wall without UPS (or HDDs) in the mix and as soon as I plug it back in the wall, it fires right up. So I'm confident I'm good there. -Brian
