Is there something wrong with RC5 ?

After updating to this build, my tuner card no longer works.

My card is a Hauppauge WinTV HVR400.

Shows up in lcpci as: Multimedia video controller: Conexant Systems, Inc. CX23887/8 PCIe Broadcast Audio and Video Decoder with 3D Comb (rev 04)

It usually uses the cx23885 driver, but trying to load this driver results in: modprobe: FATAL: Module cx23885 not found in directory /lib/modules/4.4.19-unRAID

Attached is what is seen from the admin panel both before and after update

I'll take a look in a day or two.

Out of interest, does one need to update to say RC4 via the normal method before using the plugin, or can you go straight from a DVB RC4 ot DVB RC5 without causing any issues?

Thanks,

Wob

You can update with the DVB plugin.  You need to update via LT's plugin to go from 6.1.9 to the RC series only.

Thanks, I thought that would be the case, but thought best to check :)

Updated to RC5 last night, unfortunately my tuner still doesn't work :(

I wouldn't have expected it to, it was a very minor upgrade to the kernel.  I'm kind of snowed under with work at the moment, and I'm not promising anything at all, and if it's a kernel issue there's not really anything I can do, one thing I did think of though, is your tuner plugged into a USB2 slot rather than USB3?

Thanks for the reply CHBMB, I was only slightly hopeful, since it was working on rc3 it seems only a minor upgrade broke it :). I will have a look when I get home, but it was working in the current slot on RC3. I think it is just going to be a waiting game till a fix is applied to the kernel. Just thought I would update if anything else is having issues with this driver.

Thanks for all you help.

Recompiled, try this version.  Download bzroot, bzimage & bzroot-gui and copy them across to your USB drive.  Let me know if it works.

Thanks CHMBM, that build has got it working again. Simple Kernel Misconfiguration?

Yep, I probably shouldn't do them when I'm tired and need to go to bed.

As a programmer, I completely understand where you're coming from haha.

Appreciate the work you do! Without this custom kernel, id have to do some form of silly PCI passthrough to a VM which is much more of a headache. So thank you.

Glad you're finding it useful.

I've now rebuilt all the other RC5 versions and uploaded them, got to love OpenVPN & JuiceSSH.

OK folks, V6.2 Final uploaded.  I've also removed a lot of the older builds as that list was getting out of hand...

If you're upgrading from v6.1.9 then please see the first post in this thread on how to do so.

I've left the most recent couple of release candidates up just in case anyone needs to rollback from final.

If you're using Digital Devices build then please see the second post in this thread on how to configure this.

I came along here to ask what's the 6.2 upgrade procedure only to find you'd already dealt with it. Great job!

One query - is it 100% necessary to pass the MSI param or does it default to zero? ie, I only need to set it to '1'if it doesn't work for me?

(btw, what's the manifestation of 'not working'? What should I be looking for in terms of errors etc.?)

Thanks again

Peter

Peter I don't know whether it defaults to zero or not.  And I can't really remember what the problems were either as I have no way of testing or debugging the Digital Devices stuff.

Hey CHBMB, It seems we have this again on 6.2-Stable:

root@tower:/lib/modules/4.4.19-unRAID/kernel/drivers/media# modprobe cx23885
modprobe: FATAL: Module cx23885 not found in directory /lib/modules/4.4.19-unRAID

Dunno what went wrong there, undoubtedly user error....  :-[

I've built again and re-uploading them.  Should be finished in about ten minutes....

Don't know how I managed to get it so wrong the last couple of times, managed to get this build done 30 minutes before I left for the airport though....

So now we know you work best under pressure  ;)

Hope the flight was a delight, and you have a jolly good vacation  :D

Having a wonderful time, thank you very much, visiting my wife's Aunt & Uncle in France.

I've a bit of a strange question here, as nothing I ever do seems to like everyone else!

I've currently got 3x TBS cards.

1x TBS 6205 - Quad DVBS/2 card

2x TBS 6985 - Quad DBVT/C card.

Now, these are currently in use in my TV server, which I'm about to virtualise within unRAID, however, in my setup, one of the DVBT/C cards is set for DVBT2 usage via UK Freeview (OTA transmissions) and the other is set with DVBC.

Is it possible within these builds to have one DVBT/C card as a DVBT tuner and the other as a DVBC tuner? Or, would I be best just creating a Windows 10 VM and mirroring my current TV Server setup?

Thanks in advance.
