New package: LogMeIn Hamachi 2 for unRAID 4.5.x

Featured Replies

Just curious to re-ask my other question:

2.  I'm planning on setting up two UnRaid boxes in this manner - each in different physical locations (for backup) and I figured I could then have them backup to each other using RSync or something similar.  Has anyone tried this?  Any advice?

Haven't gotten mine working quite yet - do the IP addresses change within the VPN?

Thanks,

well I followed all instructions and I am able to see my network on log-me-in web site. Pardon me for being a noob, but what next??. HOw am I suppose to browse my shares, or browse the Unraid main menu. I fiddled around every settings on the log me in site but couldn't figure it out. I just see my nickname added under clients in my networks with my virtual IP. If I try to browse the virtual IP, it does not open anything ......kindly assist.

Thanks in advance

Regards

Sammy

Okie I made some progress. Seems I had to create a new network from log me in website, which I did, added a gate way (unraid machine) and a client as well, my desktop. I now can see under my network my gateway (unraid) and my client machine (win) as well. Then I downloaded the Himachi client was able to join the network BUT it seems that Unraid is not providing the ip. and I have 0.0.0.0 listed against my client nickname.

The error says " Peers are not available via VPN. Confiorm with the network owner that the connection is available and that DHCP settings are properly configured."

Below is the snap shot of the same

Something to do with DHCP, I dont know, but Unraid DHCP seems to be configured correctly. I can see that in settings WebGUI.

Request someone to assist on this.

-Did you add the client, your desktop, to the network you created that contains unraid as the gateway?

-Add a secondary DNS like 8.8.8.8 to your unraid network settings. There was a post earlier of adding a public dns.

-check to see if you have Hamachi ports being forwarded in your router. They should be created automatically if your router is upnp compliant.

Hope that helps.

yes to the first question. I can see my client listed under my network on log me in website.

I tried doing that, 8.8.8.8 to the DNS, didnt change a thing. I still get 0.0.0.0 to the client machine. Any other DNS I can try.

My router is Linksys E2000 which is UPnP complaint.

Its definately related to DNS. For some reason Unraid DHCP is not providing the ip to Hamichi. I will do some more research today when I get home.

To be honest, I am not sure why your set up does not work.  I set this up a couple of nights ago under unRAID 4.7 and it just works.  I logged in to my server from a remote location today without issues and grabbed a couple of files.  Big thanks to gfjardim!

And I don't understand the need for doing the DNS thing - I didn't have to set anything up to make it work.  My server has a DNS address which is the router's IP address, and that seems to be sufficient.

Thanks, glad you liked it.

Those network errors are odd, sam9s, maybe you could find some answers at Logmein documentation.

Yahooo!!! I finally got this resolved .....

.....it seems that gateway network type has an issue if the DHCP server is not on the same box as the network host, this might be a very confined issue here, but that is what I experienced. I had to recreate the network with another topology. The moment I recreated my network with Hub & Spoke all went fine and I was finally able to access my NAS via Hamachi. I hope this can help some poor guy like me who is running in circles to get this resolved ..... :D.

So the hub would actually be the router, and a spoke would be your unRAID, another spoke your laptop, another spoke a NAS, etc.?

Because my unRAID is not a DHCP server -- it's basically just another spoke with the hub being my AT&T Gateway, or my Airport Extreme (which just extends the AT&T's network).

Hub would be my server (Unraid), spoke would be my laptop, dasktop, other computers etc ..... ...... the basic difference between Hub/Spoke and Gateway is that in Hub and Spoke..... Hubs (servers) are connected to everyone else, spokes (workstations) are connected only to hubs but not to each other. In gateway, workstations can be connected with each other but via only one gateway (Server)

Interesting...  I didn't dig that deep.  Maybe I just got lucky.  To be honest, I found very little in the way of documentation on the LogMeIn site to help explain stuff.  Or did I just not see it?

Just after reboot i followed these steps

2-------------------------------

root@Tower:~# hamachi login

Logging in .......... ok

3------------------------------

root@Tower:~# hamachi set-nick DC7700

Setting nickname .. ok

4----------------------------

root@Tower:~# hamachi attach [email protected]

Sending attach request to [email protected] without networks .. ok

5------------------------------------

root@Tower:~# h2control save

(this command took about 7 sec)

root@Tower:~#

6---------------------------------- (this step is not nessesary but only to get a overview of current status over here)

root@Tower:~# hamachi

 version    : 2.0.1.15

 pid        : 85xx

 status     : logged in

 client id  : 086-404-xxx

 address    : 5.xx.xxx.xx

 nickname   : DC7700

 lmi account: [email protected] (pending)

7------------------------------------

then i go to www.logmein.com and log in with my credentials and accept the pending request.

8-------------------------------------

root@Tower:~# h2control save

(this command took about 7 sec)

root@Tower:~#

---------------------------------------

everything works perfectly as long i don't reboot the server, every setting is lost and i am back at step 1

i'am using UnRaid 5.0-beta8d with Hamachi http://gfjardim.googlecode.com/files/hamachi-2.0.1.15-i686-unRAID-up1.tgz

this my GO script

#!/bin/bash

# Start the Management Utility

/usr/local/sbin/emhttp &

installpkg /boot/packages/hamachi-2.0.1.15-i686-unRAID-up1.tgz

installpkg /boot/packages/simpleFeatures-0.7-unraid-speeding_ant.tgz

unraid_notify start

did i forget something ? or missed a step?

update:

i followed exactly the same steps on my other UnRaid server with 4.7 and hamachi-2.0.1.15 and after reboot , i login to see Hamachi status ,, it remembers everything. works just fine!! :-)

lol after upgrading to Beta11 I am having the same problem. After running the 3 commands and setting up everything on Hamachi webpage things run fine, as long as I do not reboot the server. If the server is rebooted everything is lost and I have to do the entire steps on the server and on the web page as well all over again. I have re read the thread and it seems everyone running the ver 5 Betass is having this issue. With 4.7 this does not happen.

Anyone any ideas on this ....

^^ Anyone on this ...?????

@gfjardim, do you have any update on this ... ????

No, I don't have a fix for this, as I cannot replicate this behavior.

When you run "h2control save" command, please verify if a "hamachi-config.tgz" file is created under "/boot/custom/hamachi" directory. If it was created then, after the server is rebooted, verify if you have a "/var/lib/logmein-hamachi" directory created with a bunch of files. If it's there and there are some files under the directory, I don't know what's wrong.

Thanks gfjardim, had the same issue as sam9s on version 5.0 beta 11, so I just ran through all the settings, ran h2control save. Then I manually copied the logmein-hamachi folder under /var/lib to my /boot/custom directory and added the following to my go script:

cp -r /boot/custom/logmein-hamachi /var/lib

Now it saves my settings on reboot  ;D

Is anyone having an issue with Hamachi not staying logged in?  I find that it logs off after a couple of hours.

If you want to transfer files from the server to a remote site from a remote site, if you know what I mean, do you have to pay for Hamachi?

ajax3712 PM'd me about a bug related to the /tmp folder permission after the package installation.

I'll take a look at this next week, and will keep you informed.

I am on version 1.15 (without the up1) . Works for me. Thanks for your unvaluable work gfjardim!

Does it work in gateway mode for you?  I was having problems with it keeping me logged in.

Hi Guys,

Just wondering if its possible to to use this via iphone/ipad (say for streaming air video with)

I'm pretty much a noob when it comes to this, but have managed to install hamachi on my unraid box, and have set it up as a hub in my network on logmein.

At least when using logmein's iphone app, I get a message saying there are no computers in my account. Any ideas or suggestions, or is it not just meant to work this way.

Thanks

Ash

LogMeIn remote access is completely different than LogMeIn Hamachi.  Unfortunately, there is no Hamachi for iOS devices.

There are other VPN options you can use to stream video.  For example, I have L2TP VPN set up on my OpenWRT router, which does allow me to use my iPhone or iPad to connect to my server.  Not the easiest to set up, but possible.

Another route is switching from Air Video to Plex Media Server.  I have PMS running on my unRAID box, serving up HD video to my HTPC, Apple TV, iPhone, and iPad... all seamless.  Definitely something you may want to check out.  PMS and Mac/Windows clients are free, but the iOS app is $5.
