honestly i dont think thats a good idea ... never saw someone recommending this ;)

you would need a ssh Server running on your phone, you already have this working ? and running as service ?

with all proper priviledges ?

i guess your idea is somehow a pull backup while your phone is at home ...

there are so many backup solutions for android phones to automatically backup to network shares ... i would rather go vice vers, push from android to your NAS at home ... as sample apps like synthing, folder sync, ... nextcloud, ... whatever.

there you can set rules what (folders on your phone), when (at home only in wifi, always, ...) ... and so on ...

Well I thought it was a good idea, cause nothing else is working right now.

I already tried SyncThing, FolderSync and more, but nothing will backup my whole system from /system/emulated/0/ to a folder on unRAID.
So I was searching on more options to backup my Android system to unRAID, and then I saw that option...
But now you say it isn't a "good idea"....
So now the LuckyBackup option is off the list too....

I don't want to go too much off-topic, but what can you help me with to solve this problem I have.

You can always message me via DM here on the Forum, if you want to help me with this matter.

Hope you can help me out.

Kind Regards, Rick.

There are definitely ways to backup /storage/emulated/0/.
Even while my phone isn't rooted...
I've found multiple examples for that cause, only none of them are currently working for me right now.
That is why I thought that maybe LuckyBackup was a method to do that...

I understand now, that you cannot help me any further.
I'm sorry about that, I really hoped that you could help me out.

But still thanks for responding, I appreciate that a lot.

im aware of that, but thats not your whole system ... so the main question is, what do you really want todo ...

may here a howto for syncthing https://flemmingss.com/backing-up-your-android-device-using-syncthing/

in the past when i did root my phones and so on (titanium and co ...) there where easy solutions to backup all and restore in case ... nowaday with sync is included with your passes and so on ... most common is to backup your data like photos, docs, ... whatever is on your phone (storage ...) and thats where apps like synthing is just doing its jobs.

in the end, it relies now "what" you want, in terms backing up your /storage/emulated/0/ folders ... i would consider checking syncthing and look for help there (forums, ...) what can be done and may where your hurdle is.

The only thing I want is to backup my whole /storage/emulated/0/, as that contains all my files, on my Non-Rooted phone.

Syncthing was too difficult to setup, I tried it but it gave me all kinds of errors when I wanted to backup /storage/emulated/0/.

Also FolderSync won't backup all the folders under /storage/emulated/0/, so I also stopped with that.

Now I thought maybe LuckyBackup is an easy way to backup /storage/emulated/0/, but that option seems off the table now...

Sorry for being a bit unclear at times, but I don't write fluent English...

I also never heard why and also how you would even do that with luckyBackup since this is just a GUI for rsync.

I hope you find a application that works for you, maybe look into Nextcloud since you can specify a whole folder to sync, however that is out of scope for this thread.

Hi @ich777,

Nextcloud is also a pain in the ass for me on unRAID, so I would like to avoid Nextcloud at all.

Furthermore I found the luckybackup method while searching on the internet.
But that seems a no-go too.

Please post a link or where you've found that. This is most certainly not correct, as said above luckyBackup is just a frontend for rsync.

Well, I would like to give you the link, but I no longer have the link, as it was an advice and or guide generated by the Bing (.com) AI...
I didn't know, at that moment, if it was a good or bad option, as I never heard from LuckyBackup at all.
But if you really want to have the URL, I can still try some things to find out the exact one.

I just know that it will take me a long, long time to retrieve that exact URL...

Please let me know, if you still need something 😁

Thanks again!

No thank you, this was definitely not a valid solution sonce as said multiple times luckyBacku is just a grontend for rsync.

No thank you, as said above, Android backup is out of scope for this thread since I have no application for that.

Hello,

Satisfactory received an update on the 16/10. Just wondering when the docker will receive an update. I have turned off auto updates in steam for my game for future. But was unaware that a small patch would've changed enough for the game version to be incompatible.

Cheers

Hello

Fire of all you are in the wrong support thread, just click on the container icon on your Docker page and Support.

Did you read the description from the container:

Most of my containers are self maintaining and therefore they will check for updates on each start/restart.

Hey @ich777

Thanks for providing so many great Unraid Apps. I've got a question for jDownloader 2:

Is there any way to deactivate NoVNC for it with a variable? I use it mainly with my.jdownloader.org and I try to trim down every service as much as possible due to energy savings. And htop shows that jDownloader, while idle, uses the most ressources.

I would re-activate it once there's a configuration need for it.

Nope.

Can you please tell me exactly what processes that use the most power?

If nothing is connected through noVNC it won‘t use any additional CPU time or better speaking no additional power.

If it‘s jDownloader2 itself then it‘s the application itself and I can‘t do anything about that (please keep in mind that jDownloader2 is a Java application and it might not be that efficient compared to other DDL applications).

It's several (5-8) instances of /jDownloader2/JDownloader.jar

So this probably has nothing to do with noVNC, right!?

Okay, thanks for taking the time to help me out here.

w.r.t. luckyBackup

I have been using the container successfully for some time now and only started it when needed.

Now when I wanted to use it again, it shows that the container is running, but VNC shows that there is no connection.

I have already reinstalled the container. The problem remains.

I find this in the syslog.

In the logs of the container it is... somehow going in circles...

Please check the path that is specified in the template, it is most likely to be set to /mnt/cache/appdata/... if it is set to that location then please make sure in the Share settings that your appdata share stays on the Cache and is not moved to the Array.

Otherwise set the path to /mnt/user/appdata/... in the Docker template.

I checked it. The path is on /mnt/cache/appdata/... The data is also in the cache and not on the array. Mover doesn't touch it.

I changed my hardware from AMD Epyc to Intel 14th with W680 and I don't know exactly whether I've used luckyBackup on Intel since then. But a hardware swap shouldn't be the cause, right? My other containers are running without any problems.

I can‘t tell whats going on, if the container is in a loop try to removing the container and pull afresh copy from the CA App maybe the layers from the container got corrupted at some point.

I had already reinstalled the container. But now, after uninstalling, I also deleted the folder under appdate and then reinstalled it. Now it's working again... I just have to reset the settings.

Thanks again for your always quick response and your help.

Do you have AdBlocking on your network?

Do you have Unifi network gear on your network?

Do you block access to GitHub or the GitHub API?

Are you sure that the time from the server is set correctly?

Make sure your Server has full access to the Internet without any AdBlocking or similar in front of it since it needs full access to the Internet.

You don't need the CLI at all, if the container is throwing that message something went wrong while getting the driver version from the GitHub API.
