Bei der Suche nach einem geeigneten Board für mich, wollte ich unbedingt eines mit vielen S-ATA Ports. 6 waren mir tatsächlich zu wenig. Und das X11SAE-M ist eines der wenigen mit 8 Ports. Außerdem wollte ich zwei LAN-Ports. Am Ende war es das perfekte Board für mich. Zur CPU: Ja, den i3 hatte ich auch gesehen. Aber irgendwie wollte ich einfach das warme Gefühl haben, eine "Server-CPU" einzusetzen. 😀 EDIT Und Videos encodiert der Xeon eh im Hintergrund. Ob das nun 3-4 Minuten schneller mit dem i3 ginge, ist mir egal.

Moin @Dennis0701 ich stand vor knapp einem Monat ebenfalls vor einem Neukauf sämtlicher Hardware für einen unRAID-Server. Und ich muss sagen, das ich mit meiner Wahl überaus zufrieden bin. Wie @mgutt schon sagt, fiel die Wahl des Gehäuses allerdings auf eines, mit vielen Einschüben für HDD's. Hier mal meine Auflistung: Mainboard: Supermicro X11SAE-M CPU: Intel Xeon E3-1225 v6 (Boxed Kühler) RAM: 2x 16 GB Kingston Server Premier DDR4-2400 ECC (mit der neusten Firmware kann das Board auch 2400 MHz; war bei Auslieferung auch bereits drauf) Netzteil: be quiet Pure Power 11 350W Gehäuse: Fractal Design Define R6 Das Board hat 8 S-ATA Ports. Die sind auch bereits voll belegt. 2x SSD für den Cachepool. 1x HDD (8 TB) als Parity 3x HDD (8TB) und 2x HDD (4 TB) als Array. Mein Einsatzzweck deckt sich in etwa mit Deinem. Gruß Stefan

I'm using unRaid since 1 month. Today was the first periodical parity check. It starts at 0 o'Clock in the night and will end at 14 o'Clock in the afternoon. I'm in the office at that time. Thats life.

I did connect an external USB-HDD via Unassigend Devices to my unRaid. In the Settings i set "Spin down disks?" to YES. Does this also apply to USB-Disks? My disk is always over 40° C...

Hi there, "Moin" meens "hello" in north german accent. 😉 Now that I have asked my noob questions, I wanted to introduce myself to you. Since 2013 I was running an HP Microserver (N54L) with OpenMediaVault. It always worked very well. But since the storage space was getting smaller and smaller, I had to use larger hard disks. Because I used a RAID5 in OMV, I would have had to replace each hard disk individually to increase the capacity. And the array would have had to be rebuilt each time. But because the N54L was also getting too old, I decided to buy completely new hardware (> Signature). As software I actually wanted to switch to OMV 5. But then I also looked at Proxmox and unRAID. And since I registered here in the forum, I finally chose unRAID. Really great operating system. I'm sure I'll have a lot of fun with it in the coming years. I will use the N54L as a backup target for the unRAID. Stefan

I have mount two SMB-Shares via Unassigned Devices to my unRAID. I copied the files from that share to my unRAID. Now i want to remove that shares from unRAID. In the GUI he "Unmount"-Button takes no effect. Also the "X" is not clickable. Any ideas?

Do i have to copy the macos_disk.img to the directory of my NVMe-Disk first? Is it possible to have all the VM-stuff within the Unassigned-Disk? domain, appdata and so on...

Hi there, i want to have the vdisk on my unassigned device (NVMe). After Docker creats the Catalina VM i go to settings of that Catalina-VM. There are three created drives: Clover, Install Image ans macos disk. After changing the path of the 64G macos disk to my UA-Disk and click "update" the Catalina-Logo of the VM disappears and the VM will not boot. Is there a solution for that?

Moin Moin, ich würde gerne die vDisk von Macinabox auf einer Unassigned Disk haben. Zu welchem Zeitpunkt muss diese Platte (NVMe) angegeben werden? Schon bei der Konfiguration der macOS Installation in Docker? Also dort unter VM Images location? Oder erst nachdem vom Docker die VM angelegt wurde? Und dann in den Settings der VM? Allerdings sind dann ja bereits die drei Platten "Clover", MacOS-Install Image" und die vDisk erstellt, und liegen auf der Cache Disk. Ich habe auch schon versucht, diese drei Dateien auf die UA-Disk zu kopieren. Allerdings bootet dann MacOS nur in eine Shell und nichts weiter passiert. Jemand hier eine Idee?

Okay. Ich lasse es jetzt erstmal so laufen. Hoffe, es läuft nun durch. Problem war wahrscheinlich der Minimum Free Space vorher auf 0KB... Danke Dir schon mal. Methode ist zur Zeit "High Water". Umschalten auf eine andere Disk macht er selbstständig, oder?

Ich habe jetzt den "reconstruct write" in den Settings eingestellt. Minimum free space auf 20GB Cache auf Preferr. Kopiervorgang gestartet. Schreibt nur auf eine der drei Datendisks. Aber gelesen wird aktuell von allen dreien... Parity auch wieder aktiviert.

Gut. Habe den Kopiervorgang nun abgebrochen. Ich hatte den Cache auf "Yes" stehen. Minimum Free Space aktuell 0KB. Die größte Datei ist 14,23GB groß. Wie aktiviere ich denn den "Turbo Write"?

Moin Moin, ich wundere mich gerade über eine Sache, und frage mich, ob es normal ist. Ich möchte gerne unRaid einsetzen. Habe mir dafür einen neuen Server gebaut. Nun bin ich dabei, die Daten von meinem alten Server (Openmediavault) auf den unRaid zu kopieren. Das Array in unRaid läuft natürlich. Parität ist auch in Ordnung. Habe die Freigabe (SMB) vom OMV in unRaid gemountet. Anschließend auf die Konsole in unRaid eingeloggt und via rsync Kommando den Kopierbefehl gestartet. Sind eine Menge Daten. Ca. 5-6 TB. Der Kopiervorgang läuft auch noch in der Konsole. Allerdings sind mittlerweile alle Platten im unRaid Server im Standby. Netzwerkverkehr ist aber noch aktiv. Kennt dieses Verhalten jemand? EDIT: Okay, soeben brach der Kopiervorgang ab. Angeblich nicht genug Speicher vorhanden. Ich denke, es lag daran, das ich das Cachelaufwerk aktiv hatte. Habe den Vorgang nun erneut gestartet. Diesmal ohne Paritätsplatte und Cachelaufwerk. Hoffe, das hilft.
