Preclear plugin
Finally got through a massive issue with emhttp hanging and the server not shutting down. I've removed & reinstalled the plug in. Going to let the preclear run with nothing else (dockers) running on the server. Hoping I get through it this time. Thanks!

well, docker ps simply hung. Maybe I wasn't patient enough, but I've been giving commands an hour or more to do something and I got impatient. I held down the power switch until it went down. Thanks for trying. We apologize for the hijacking and now return you to your regularly scheduled COPS thread.

I was wondering where you were going with that clip. Maybe when I get the server back up, I'll watch the movie again. Thanks, I'll give this a shot. When last I checked, I could still get access from the console.

How would I manually shut down the docker via CLI? I've got emhttp hung. I can't get powerdown to power down the machine. diagnostics has been sitting at "Starting diagnostics collection..." since yesterday evening. Shutting down all the dockers by hand and hoping that something breaks loose is my only hope of getting a clean shutdown at this point. I'd hit the power button, but I'm already a drive down and relying on parity as it is. The full saga here http://lime-technology.com/forum/index.php?topic=52710.0 for those interested...

[Support] Linuxserver.io - COPS (Calibre OPDS PHP Server)
Thanks for making this happen! I've got this up and running just fine with its external port on 8092. I've got kids in the Army and at college, and they want to be able to read books, too. Since they're not at home, how do I set this up for some sort of external access without just opening my server up to whatever little script kiddies are out there lurking? I know how to poke a hole in the firewall, but how do I secure it? Is there any provision for username/password anywhere? If not, does anyone have any suggestions on how to go about making that work?

I see that now! I'll jump over to the COPS thread with a couple more questions.

Preclear plugin
Appreciate you stopping by! I did that, but it's still showing results, and the X says it will clear stats, but doesn't. I guess I could restart it by hand, but... ewww! Any other tips? I rebooted the server, and it let me restart the preclear. Now it's telling me that the preclear is done. gfjardim, you've done some amazing work, brother! That's a 4TB drive cleared in... 12 hours!! OK, probably not. preclear_disk.sh -t /dev/sdh Yields all the instructions on how to call preclear_disk.sh followed by: Sorry: Device /dev/sdh is busy.: 1 All that's in /boot/preclear_reports is a report for the drive that died last week. It's dated Sept 17th, and is full of: tput: unknown terminal "screen" (6536 bytes worth). I redownloaded the original preclear_disk.zip, extracted preclear_disk.sh from it and compared SHA256 fingerprints from the fresh copy v the copy I'm actually using, and they match. I know gfjardim is busy, so I probably won't get a response from him for a couple of days (I get it - real life. Glad he's got one!). Anyone else have any suggestions? No, the drive's not hot swappable, unfortunately. (I guess I need to watch Office Space again, 'cause I totally didn't get the reference...) I'm attaching screenshots of the "preview" (clicking the blue eye), since it won't let me copy/pasta the text.

As a follow up, it's been sitting at 53% @ 39MB/s (15:08:06) at least since I posted the last message. Do I need to restart the server to kill it & try again?

[DOCKER CONTAINER] Ubooquity
Hey... what are you trying to say? Interesting, I got COPS installed and running in about 20 seconds. The one distinct advantage Ubooquity has is that it has a built in reader - I can browse from laptop, phone or ebook reader & read via Ubooquity, where I cannot read an epub on a Win or Mac without additional software.

Cool, thanks. Also, nicely updated .sig!

[DOCKER CONTAINER] Ubooquity
Ah! That did it. I kept trying to assign a user to it, and it didn't like a user. Didn't realize I could just assign a path. If I want to make this accessible from the outside, where do I create users/pwd? Do I use COPS instead of Calibre, or in addition to Calibre?

Preclear plugin
I started a preclear, but it seems to be hung. When I click the little blue eyeball for the preview, I see: /usr/local/emhttp/plugins/preclear.disk/script/preclear_disk.sh: fork: cannot allocate memory My pre-clear hasn't progressed beyond 53% overnight. Clicking the X to cancel the preclear doesn't seem to be working, either. Troubleshooting tips appreciated.

[DOCKER CONTAINER] Ubooquity
OK, I'm running pretty dense this weekend. I've got a Calibre library that I'm starting to build. I want to be able to share these books with my daughter, and to read them on my phone from wherever, so I've installed Ubooquity. I'm baffled as to how I point Ubooquity at the Calibre library, and how I grant people access to it. (I know how to port-forward, I don't see where I administer users, etc.) I'm attaching my docker config. I've tried /mnt <-> /mnt, and I've tried /mnt <-> /mnt/users/Books - neither seems to automatically find anything, and I don't see where in this configuration to point it at the books. I'm also attaching some screen shots of what I can see in Ubooquity - as you can see, there are no books found. I've seen that Ubooquity needs the metadata embedded in the .epub file itself, and I've not yet gone back through and re-exported them all, but I've got a wide variety of .epub files, and I'd imagine that at least a few of them have some metadata in them. (Can't guarantee it at this point.) I've gone to [ip]:[port]/admin, and it takes me to the admin screen. When I try to go to [ip]:[port], it immediately redirects me to /admin. Is that to be expected? I don't see any of the screens shown on Ubooquity's web site. Is this because I don't have anything for it to display yet? All in all... HELP!!!

Dell T330 not showing any drives to unRAID
When you say "no disks showing", have you clicked the arrow to drop down the list for "Disk 1" and nothing is there, or do you mean that all the disk slots indicate no disk? When you're starting a brand new configuration, you have to actually assign a physical disk (from the drop down), to a logical disk slot (Disk 1, Disk 2, etc.) unRAID doesn't do that for you. It doesn't do it automatically, because most likely, you want the SSD as your cache drive, and you need to have your largest as the parity drive, but if you have multiple 3TB drives, it leaves it up to you to decide which of them will be cache, etc...

unRAID 6 NerdPack - CLI tools (iftop, iotop, screen, kbd, etc.)
Don't worry about the nc update. For some reason it gives a false positive that it's installed. The update isn't very smart. It just shows up if there's a different version installed than is in the NerdPack repo whether it's newer or older. So if I update a package to a newer version in the repo, 'update' will show and the Apply button will be available to be clicked. If you click apply it will download and install the new package. I haven't had a chance to figure it out yet. Thanks for pointing out the undefined. It's a bug but won't affect anything. Packagemanager will ignore invalid options. My guess, it's because of missing cookies and it will probably go away if you toggle the uninstall and delete switches. Cool. Thanks.

Preclear plugin
I know you specifically asked gfjardim, but... you've hit the nail on the head. It's been a debate that's run as long as the preclear has been available. Some folks have had their drives fail on the 3rd preclear, so they always run 3+, some run 1 just to get it into the system. With version 6.x (maybe 6.1?) you don't actually have to preclear a drive anymore. unRAID will do it for you without taking the array off-line to do it. (It used to take the array offline while zeroing out the drive, thus you were down for hours to days, thus the need to preclear the drive.) I don't think there's a definitive answer to your question, though others are welcome to pipe in .

Preclear plugin
I've got a preclear running on a new drive, and all is going wonderfully, except... I've been having issues getting email notifications since I changed my gmail password (separate issue raised for that), so I set up a Pushover account. I am getting test messages sent via Pushover from the Notification Settings menu in unRAID. When I launched the preclear, I turned on all notifications - email, GUI & Notifications. I'm not getting email - as I expected I am getting GUI pop ups (see attachment) I'm not getting Pushover - I'm surprised. Is there any logging I can look at for the preclear to see if it's returning an error to see what the issue is? I do know that I can get a test message via unRAID. I don't remember if I've yet received a regular status update via Pushover, so I don't know if unRAID is working in general beyond just the test messages. And thank you so much for picking up where JoeL left off on this! It's greatly appreciated!!

[Plugin] Ransomware Protection - Deprecated
It does indeed, so it must be done. Woohoo! I've been useful, not just a complainer!!! I do always feel bad complaining about stuff like this since I've got no knowledge of how to fix it. Glad I could be helpful. Sounds like a great plan! Just curious, how do I go about intentionally deleting the bait files without triggering the watcher? Scenario A) It excluded "appdata", but I still have the old "apps" directory on my cache drive from when I was running 5.x (a few weeks ago). I really need to get rid of "apps" now that I've got everything functional, but there are a lot of bait files there. Scenario B) My wife likes to rearrange, copy & move pictures around the server, and I need to teach her to create links or get her to tag them in Piwigo. Once I do that, I'll have some directories she's created for custom collections that will need to be removed to get rid of duplicate images. That will include deleting bait files and triggering an SMB shutdown.

Assuming (yes, I know) that it works its way through the shares, then the directory structure alphanumerically, it should be done now. Thanks for that. Other than installing updates, I really, really hope I never think about this plugin again! I appreciate your efforts and that you've put this together.

unRAID 6 NerdPack - CLI tools (iftop, iotop, screen, kbd, etc.)
My first Nerd Pack issue, so go lightly on me, as well... When installing inotify earlier, I noticed that nc said that it has an update available. Hovering over the "update ready" text gives it an underline, but the cursor remains an arrow. Hovering over the "cloud" icon changes the cursor to a finger indicating clickable (Firefox for Win10). However, clicking the cloud icon does nothing. I installed via CA, and there's no indication there that there's an update to Nerd Pack. Note: I don't actually have nc installed at the moment, and have no burning need to do so, I just figured I'd get it updated in case I ever need it. Does the update only work if I've actually got the utility installed? EDIT: I just noticed this in the log: Oct 8 09:12:24 NAS emhttp: cmd: /usr/local/emhttp/plugins/NerdPack/scripts/packagemanager --download undefined undefined might have something to do with it?

Like the log entry states, Oct 8 09:43:49 Server_B root: ransomware protection:Creating bait files, all folders of all shares. This may take a bit Drives have to spin up, all the directories have to be scanned, etc. A new log entry will appear once its finished (the operation is silent because the same thing happens at array start, etc) Yeah, saw them being created. Guess I read the log, but not that closely. I figured that if you could detect a file being deleted & shut down SMB within 0.2 seconds, it shouldn't take more than, what, maybe 10 or 20 seconds to create all the files? Roger. Will be sure not to.
