The one for Amp.

Open up the console for the container and type in:

exit

After that you are root.

Can you please be a bit more precise?

Do you mean from a template or do you mean just click on Add Container and deploy it on your system?

I now tried both and it is working fine over here.

Can you please also rule out a browser issue on your side?

The first one is deployed with the Add Container button and the second one is deployed via a Template:

Yes, forgot about the distinction.

The issue was with create via the Add Container button. No template.

Also tried in incognito mode. Brave browser.

## Note ##

Disregard this now. Tried it again just now and it works. Just noticed yesterday the dropdown menus for distribution and release where not there to make selections. Maybe the browser doing one of its tricks. Now it's working great. Thanks anyways for the support!

Please also look in your syslog, it seems that a Docker container or something is constantly restarting...

Weird "bug" here. I'm unable to add a new container. Just leaving the default options and adding a name. Pressing the Create button just "refreshes" the page and asks again for the new container name.

I'm hitting the same issue.

I set the name, distro and release, but after clicking "Create", it just refreshes the page. I'm on Unraid 7.0.0

Now this, is attention to detail. 😉

Thanks!

@Daniel15 Do as ich777 said before to share your diagnostics. It helps them a lot on these reports of issues. ;)

But in my case, the next day all worked alright. No changes on my side. Do you use Brave browser by any chance? That's the one I use. Just to see if there's a pattern, I guess.

This is a really strange issue, however what I can see from your screenshot the Distributions and Releases can't be grabbed that's why you see no drop downs on that page, it should look like:

grafik.png.51d911bef9e1198efcec9ab6342eae2d.png

Maybe something went wrong while connecting to images.linuxcontainers.org and that's why it won't work but I can't tell for sure.

Can you please try again, I'm not too sure if this is an issue with the plugin or maybe on the end from LXC since @djismgaming was also reporting the same with the drop downs and now it it is working again for him it seems.

Here is a animation how it should look like (I'm also using Firefox) :

test.apng

Yeah, it is working for me. No change, apart of waking up the next day haha. All good so far.

Thanks for that... :)

This happens only when you backup really big containers, however this won't prevent the backup from being taken properly since it will run in the background until it's done.

Can't do anything about the timeout since this is a fixed value from the WebGUI, however what you can also do is that you issue it from the command line (just in case you plan to scheduled backups), just issue:

lxc-autobackup

and you will be presented how to use it.

This is a routine that I specifically wrote for Unraid.

Fantastic thanks and you are correct 🙂 the backup did work and your autobackup works as expected awesome thanks!!! Can't wait for future updates I'm guessing you are familiar with proxmox 😛 would be awesome to have the GUI with similar functionality but the current methods although "manual" work well.

Not at all, this was always a little bit "over the top" for my use case over here and my home lab.

What do you mean with that? Backup functionality?

I haven't implemented everything, however you should be able to restore a container, overwrite or even create a new one from the GUI.

Backups are a bit different than Snapshots because they won't be deleted if you delete for example the container, because that happened more than once to me... :P

If you can mention it, I'll ask it: Is there any talk of possibly bringing LXC support into Unraid in an official capacity, sort of like what they did with the Tailscale plugin?

As a complete aside, Proxmox is truly the Devil's Arsehole when it comes to usability. H E double-hockey-sticks  is it bad.

Yes of course and this was already, be it short, discussed.

However I currently have to look into much more things, I also plan to get container templates into the CA App but this can take some additional time and after that this can be discussed further.

I hope that answers your question or do you have any other concerns?

More than answers, looking forward to your future developments!

Hi all,

This is probably the wrong place for this but I thought I'd post here just in case anyone here has experience of running AMP servers with the LXC plugin. I was hoping to move my Arma server from proxmox to Unraid using the LXC container. I installed AMP on a clean debian lxc as well as the AMP template with the same results: Arma encounters a segfault when starting.  I don't get the same errors on Proxmox LXC or on a Debian VM on Unraid.

When I searched for the error on the AMP discord it was interesting that any report of segfaults with Arma was "you're running it on Unraid". I thought running the AMP docker causes problems , but apparently even LXCs on Unraid apparently are not immune.

So when it comes to running AMP, are the problems running dockerised AMP the same as using LXC on Unraid?

Yes, I have it running on my server, but mainly for Minecraft.

I'm basically running this container archive on Unriad.

If you need more information how to install it just look at that tutorial here: https://github.com/ich777/unraid_lxc_pihole?tab=readme-ov-file#step-1-install-container-archive

(you have to of course also change the RAW link to the repository)

If we are talking about ARMA 3 I know that they have issues on some systems and this is not only on Unraid the case AFAIK.

Exactly but this is cause of the underlying Kernel/libraries because if we are talking about containers (no matter if they are Docker or LXC based) they all share the same Kernel from the host.

However in terms of ARMA 3 there where times where ARMA 3 x64 was running on Unraid just fine but then they changed something and it broke completely and throw the Segfault errors however if you start the x86 version ARMA 3 just runs fine <- at least that's the case for my Docker container for Unraid.

Thanks for the explanation, this makes sense :).

I guess now that it runs fine in a VM with little fuss I'll keep it as it is, now that I know what the issue is.

Thanks again :)

Please only use English here in the main forums (Google translate or something similar can help with that :) ).

If possible please post your Diagnostics or at least your syslog so that I can see what is going on and further troubleshooting.

This is not planned yet since many other things would need to be implement for that to work, however I already got a few container archives already and in general it is planed to bring them into CA at some point and it is also easy for you to create such archives or even create backups from containers that you can deploy later with the Unraid unique command: `lxc-autobackup` that I wrote.

Here are some some container archives (please keep in mind that these container archives are currently a PoC):

Here is a quick tutorial on how to install them already:

Why doesn't the container start normally when I try to start it directly? How can I configure it so that the LXC container starts automatically after a system reboot without having to reapply the network settings? And what is causing this problem?

Please post your Diagnostics for further troubleshooting.

Sure here you has the files from Diagnostics

Sorry, but I don't give support for such Unraid versions.

You know that such versions possibly contains backdoors and other malicious applications/code which could easily infiltrate your network...?

Please buy a legit copy from Unraid and make sure to remove the existing installation since you'll never know what is included and start fresh.

thats mean that stick that give me friend is not original suport okey now im understand but wen i made now a fresh installed version on the stick an i can made 30 days testing you mean that will works then becouse im new with unraid

I would recommend that you immediately shut down the system and recreate the USB Key with a legit version and register Trail.

Yes, you can use Unraid for 30 days to test and after that you can extend Trail 2x 15 days.

Hope that helps.
