Heads up, this plugin version is not actively maintained. Folderview3 is where you will want to go for the latest requests https://forums.unraid.net/topic/197223-plugin-folderview3/

[Plugin] FolderView

Featured Replies

Now it's working on version 7.

Steps on how to install new version:

- Make backup of your configurations (Docker and VM);

- >>>> Uninstall Folder View <<<<<

- Copy the files as described on https://github.com/VladoPortos/folder.view/tree/main

- Manually Install as described on the link above.

You just need to make xml file for plugin you can copy from original.

Then message for Squad for include your github plugin xml file to CA.

You can check also xml template thread.

so will the folder view plugin be updated or do we really have to do it manually?

image.thumb.png.92085fc9d8dda317aba16e54d8cdc2b9.png

Click on export all, this will give you a json file that holds the settings, of what is in what folder... so even if you uninstall you should be able to go back and hit Import give it the file and it should look like before...

After you have your backup, you need to uninstall the old folder view plugin.

Next go to https://github.com/VladoPortos/folder.view and from there you basically need just two files:

folder.view.plg
and
archive -> folder.view-2025.02.22.txz

Then you need to get this files to plugin folder, I just scp them to unriad via ssh ( I know this is shitty way to do it, I will figure out how to make it simpler just did not have time yet )

Copy the folder.view.plg file to /boot/config/plugins/ folder.

Copy the latest 'folder.view-.txz' from archive folder to /boot/config/plugins/folder.view/ folder (you might need to create it there)

In Unraid webui go to Plugins -> Install Plugin tab, click on the folder config -> plugins -> folder.view.plg and press install button.

IT WORKED!

FolderView is officially abandoned and no longer available.

Good News: It has been picked up by another developer.

Not-so-good News: The new version is not in Community Apps...yet.

Instructions to manually install the new version (FolderView2) are below (after the link).

A new forum thread for FolderView2 has been created here:

FOLDERVIEW2 MANUAL INSTALL INSTRUCTIONS

Easiest possible path to get updated to the @VladoPortos version until it is added to Community Apps is:

  1. Go to FolderView settings (under the SETTINGS tab), click the EXPORT ALL button to export all folder settings to a Docker.json file. (If you use FolderView for VMs, scroll down to do the same for VMs)
    Screenshot2025-03-12112626_export.thumb.png.d6716cb3bc157821edb9fe12a6eaa9e5.png
  2. If you have any custom CSS styles (or scripts), make sure you back those up. They are stored here: flash/config/plugins/folder.view/styles
(You can get there quickly by clicking the OPEN FILE MANAGER button at the top of FolderView settings)
  3. Uninstall FolderView plugin
  4. Update unRAID to latest version (if you haven't already)
  5. Install @VladoPortos plugin by going to the plugins tab, clicking the Install Plugin tab, and pasting in the plugin's url:
    https://raw.githubusercontent.com/VladoPortos/folder.view2/refs/heads/main/folder.view2.plg (thanks @fr500)
    Then click INSTALL button.
    Screenshot2025-03-12112853.png.71eb389f5651a6a5d054895dcedcd0a9.png
  6. After the plugin is installed, go back to FolderView settings and click IMPORT button. Choose the file you exported in step 1.
    Screenshot2025-03-12112626.thumb.png.ce4c40766a3ab671d285e000fcf9c2e8.png
  7. This should have your folders set up again - if you had any custom styles, copy those back to flash/config/plugins/folder.view/styles in the same folder structure as they were before.

That should have you back to normal. The only thing I have noticed (so far) that is "wrong," is that the pentagon icon that shows when the autostart order does not match is missing.

Updating notes based on FolderView2 availability.

I have messaged squid with the xml  ( hopefully did not crew it up :D ) and if all goes well it should appear in store...

I just installed this on Unraid 7 and this is what I get when I click Add Folder for docker containers.

I don't see the toggle switches like in other screen shots or the dockers listed in it. Clicking submit refreshes this page doesn't create anything. Not sure what's happening. First time using this plugin.

If you're using the version from the Apps tab, then it's broken. The developer abandoned the project and it is in the process of being picked up by @VladoPortos

There are workarounds for now, see previous posts for the past week or so. But he is presently working to get his new version on the Apps tab.

That was the issue, I assumed it was fine since the last update was Jan 2025 for unraid 7, but guess that was wrong.
The manual install worked great.

Thanks,

Yeah, the original developer was trying to get it working for 7.0+. That last version made it to Community Apps, but it never worked correctly, unfortunately.

Glad you got it working! :-)

Anyone who ended up clicking export and copied the long text string (that wont import into the new Folder view as
A)its not JSON
B) it needs a file

Throw the long text string into an LLM (I used copilot) and tell it to convert it to JSON, and save as file.json
Then you can import file.json :)

Odd, never noticed it before. Kind of glad thats not a FolderView issue. Hopefully LT fixes this in the feature.

Actually, you were right. It is a FolderView issue. I thought I didn't have FolderView on this server since I wasn't using it since updating to 7.0.1, but it was installed. I removed it and the glitch went away. I'm seeing if I can track it down in the code...

Can you shed some light on what this is and why FolderView causes it to show up if unRAID 7.1 will fix it?

Looks like something to do with the CSS grid gutters, but I can't figure out where the different color is coming from.

The wonky lines will be fixed. That you include a titel in the Dashboard page, thats something you need to remove^^

Ah, I see the lines are there even without FolderView. So there's something in FolderView that is coloring the area between those lines.

I told you what it is, lemme open a pull request for it quickly :D
