Hi @alturismo I am trying to use cache mover, so far my setup looks like on attached, the only thing that is missing is plex token, however not sure if all paths are ok? Also what about subtitles files, will it move them automatically or should I add .srt next to the mkv and mp4 files?

Thanks for help.

there is a wrong argumant in one field

image.png

which also answers your question about subs ;) as long as they are in the same folder ;)

postprocessing ... pleas read and fill the field, the "yes" is just a blueprint in your case

image.png

if your pathes are correct, cant tell without knowing how you setup your plex Server Docker

and, if you are not using token, you can leave the mode field empt, just as note.

image.png

there is a help text on each input field

if you are not sure, i need more infos from your general setup ;)

Thank you @alturismo , it was my bed time and used wrong cache copy mode :)

My path is /mnt/user/data/media in this folder I have two folders tv and media, also /mnt/user/data/media is mounted as /data in plex( I have fixed the path as the one in my screenshot had no "data" before media)

I am just thinking, technically I do not need mover at all, as this is separate ssd pool, not the main cache. I guess in this case I have to figure it out and remove files manually, or they will be deleted after xx time?

@edit I just noticed that there is an option to use bin plugin, I guess I can do that instead of mover?

if you dont want the plugin to clean up then ...

i always recommend, set to yes

create 2 empty files which are pointing somewhere, i use /mnt/user/system/mover/... as you see in the pre configured type.

then the plugin will delete untouched files after your given hours, sample

24 for movies now

720 for tv now

untouched means, whenever the plugin checks activity /default every 10 min) the timer "resets", so you can watch every day 10 mins from your movie if you want to, only once you didnt touch it for at least 24 hours ... the cleaner will remove it then (default, once a day in the morning)

Sorry I think there is some kind of confusion :)

I want to copy a file from array to the pool, then delete it from the pool, according to the description I should use BIN plugin to achieve that, right? I can skip mover as it wont be used, or I am wrong and I have to use mover?

no idea what you talking about ;)

as its a sep pool disk anyhow, no need for mover tuning if thats the question, yes

After an hour of fight I finally managed to get it working, it does copy the data. Now - do I need to set up anything special to remove files after xx hours or it will do it on its own?

The only thing that is not working is cache cleaner, I set post processing to yes, set the cron to do it every 2 minutes but the cleaner log is empty, not sure why it does not check the files?

it ll of course only look for played files on "cache", so if you enabled it afterwards ... will only lookup for files which are logged

Thanks I have re did all and now I can see cache-cleaner is running and files are visible in Cache mover cached tab, the last question the same file is in mover tuning excluded, is it because the file is still in range?

Hi,

I am having an issue with CACHE-MOVER where it is working but it takes 40 minutes for the plugin to recognize a movie is playing and then move it to the cache drive. You can see that I have even set my corn job to go every 2 minutes instead of every 10. It doesn't seem to make a difference. Do I have something set wrong?

** Update to this. I am now getting the following error.

May 29 12:39:35 Cyberdyne root: cache-mover: msm: cat: /usr/local/emhttp/plugins/cache-mover/tmp_openfiles2.txt: No such file or directory

whats the path your files lying ?

@alturismo The plugin doesn't work, I mean it does work but only for new files.

Please look at the screenshots, in case 1 the movie was already in cache drive as was watched this morning, plex decided to start using file in the disk1 instead of cache. It never changed to cached as well.

In second case, the file was only on the disk1 so plugin did the job, copied it to the cache and switched.

Not sure what is wrong in my case, why is it not using cached files isntantly? Is it because I use zfs on this chace pool? Is there something wrong in config? Just ot let you know I tested multi mode as well.

ok, as it seems the pinned posts are gone i ll describe what i guess your issue is (there is a description in this thread).

may ahead, this plugin cant control what Plex is doing, it only does jobs on the Server itself.

so, you are using a pool device "outside" your regular Shares for caching Media Files, which does work "live" but cant work with existing files as plex cant see the files from its point of view ... as your Share /data inside plex doesnt include your UAD cache disk.

to achieve this, i recommend using mergerfs to build virtual Shares which includes the UAD cache pool device, then plex can benefit of cached files ...

i ll search the pinned posts and link them here.

if thats correct (UAD ssd pool device for caching) then yes, needs some different setup on Share Management.

about zfs, i did test zfs here and it worked out on regular mode, for media server only mode it should always work, but i ll take another look therefore when i have more free time, still under construction here in my new house ;) im usually not using zfs as its personally overhyped for homelabs, but thats my personal oppinion ;)

Help needed here, I tried to set this up months ago, it’s still not working. Regular mode seems fine, it just can not see jellyfin activity.

Yes I tried, not working. I have this setting in my jellyfin because I mostly connect it from Internet.

Hi I have tried to fix it, and that trick with mergeFS fixed the issue :)

Could you possibly expand the plugin to use jellyfin and plex at the same time? I do have plex for most users(including myself) and jellyfin for other few.

Edited by Joloxx9

I have been using the Cache Mover for a while now and love the plugin.

I noticed, however, some strange behaviour:

1) When a copy of the folder is initiated, not all of the folder's contents will always be copied over to the target pool.

Sometimes just one file, multiple but not all (half of it).

This behaviour is not consistent, sometimes it is working just fine.
I played around with Media Server Mode setting and noticed that there is no difference. (3/4 times it is working fine)

In the logs there are no errors logged, for example, there should be copied 2 files, but only one is copied over:

is host access enabled on your system ? depending now on your overall setup ...

SSL on, you should enter the external hostname instead LAN IP, may try this then.

possible your directory content is spreaded over several disks ?

if so, then yes, on todo ... was a fail once i changed the design to use all kind of pool disks constellations so i cant use /mnt/user/ anymore ... but solveable once i have some more time.

thanks for the feedback.
