possible your directory content is spreaded over several disks ?

if so, then yes, on todo ... was a fail once i changed the design to use all kind of pool disks constellations so i cant use /mnt/user/ anymore ... but solveable once i have some more time.

thanks for the feedback.

Yes it is indeed spread over multiple disks. Makes sense. Thanks for you reply!!

I have one small feature suggestion: if it is possible, would you consider adding an option to configure a minimum free disk size check for the target data cache?
If minimum is not available, do not transfer the files until the minimum free disk space is available again.
Use case: preventing overloading the target pool and keeping a buffer on the cache drive 😊

thanks for the feedback, already on todo and will be added.

is host access enabled on your system ? depending now on your overall setup ...

SSL on, you should enter the external hostname instead LAN IP, may try this then.

Thank you so much! Yes indeed I should’ve put external hostname instead LAN IP, it’s working now. I suppose I simply chose that option when I saw “IP preferred”.

Any update for ZFS pool support? I hit some clean up issue when using my modified script.

had no time yet for anything from todo ;)

but, im pretty close done with moving here, well, actually so far done that i can say the rest can wait a little ;)

and before i look at zfs, 1st there will be 2 minor things to change / fix as i personally dont use zfs, so i need testers anyhow then.

Good to hear it is on the todo list.

I'm glad to be a beta tester to experience it for the first time

Hey, I've been playing with PWM-FAN recently.
Would it be possible to add a hold minimum rpm value option? I expect it would vary between my min and max but never actually stop. If my drives in the list all spin down the fan stops and I dont want that, i want the fan to jsut run at minimum speed if all drives are spundown, because the drive fans are still intake fans.

may set your target temp also to 0

Would there be a way to add the ability to monitor multiple media players instead of doing the open file monitoring?

actually media players (clients) are irrelevant ;)

its 1 media Server (either Plex, Emby, Jelly)

and / or

open file/s on disk ...

filtered by rules (media extension, path, ...)

so, depending now what your real question is, multiple Media Server like Plex + Emby as sample ?

Hi, I've just started using PWM fan on a new Unraid install, after having issues with the popular alternative fan control plugin.

I ran into two small issues, that I could see others falling into or I might just have a misconfiguration.

One, it looks like the 'pwm hdd' field is limited to 8 entries, fortunately/ unfortunately I have more than this. Currently, I've just added the extra drives to the settings file, it would be good if an option existed to include any sd* drives (minus the boot drive) rather than needing to list them all.

Some people might just specify the hottest 2 drives, but that doesn't work if said drives are spun down and others are not.

Second, I like to have my drives spun down as much as possible, but I would still like a little airflow through that section of my case. Current behaviour has the fan stop (at least with my settings) when the array is spun down. A check box to enforce the min rpm even when the array/ specified pwm hdd is spun down (no drive temps are available) would be a nice addition.

good point, thanks for this info, i note it on todo to extend the field ;)

may as note, you have 2 hdd sections, so you could setup 2 x 8 now (16 drives), and use same pwm settings ;)

1st comment i see about this here, but thats easy to extend, i just limited the input field, no function limitation as you already figured by adding it manually. a sd* function would be more complex as the plugin would need to build the table, read out, and so on ... and i prefer my plugins to keep as minimized as possible.

will come in next release.

current workaround, a few posts upper yours ;) but yes, will also come, keep min even when drives return 0.

thanks for the feedback.

- zfs issues ? (couldbt be replicated here)

- better UI (dropdown)

Yes, add plex, emby and jellyfin as separate media server entries instead of just using 1. I have been trying to for a while to get the open file/s on disk to work properly, but it keeps moving data that isn't being watched. This is likely due to the media servers doing things like extracting images, etc. If you add the 3 media servers as separate entries, then it would ignore any other file that might be open for a period of time for other reasons and only move media files.

[Cache Mover]

I am using the media server mode only with Jellyfin. I created the mover exclusion / ignore lists with touch /mnt/user/system/mover/mover_excl.txt and touch /mnt/user/system/mover/mover_ignore.txt

It does copy the files to the cache but doesn't seem to put anything in these files. The date/time are updated so the scripts are running. Presumably it won't be able to remove them from the cache at a later date. The 'Cache Mover Lists' tab shows no files. What am I doing wrong?

[Edited: Solved! But thought I would leave my issue here in case anyone else runs into it. The blue placeholder text for each field (e.g. Postprocessing: Yes) is not actually a default. So if you don't manually put 'Yes' into that field then post-processing won't run...]

Hello @alturismo

Can you please advice how to configure mover tuner, as I am confused now

I just tried to do setup - Simple Mover setup

pool disk I set to cache

subfolder from root Share on: This part confused me, but I just put like this: Movies, Series

min treehold to run: I set to 80

min free to 50 (I believe this is GB or percents?

min age I put maximum, I can afford keep items on cache. So max was 999

path to exclusion file I left blank

rsync comand I put rsync -a --remove-source-files

Where I am wrong, as when I press apply I am just having white screen and nothing is saved, so can't even test

this would mean you have /mnt/user/Movies, /mnt/user/Series

the blueprint (and help text) tells you ... sample Media/Movies in terms your root Share would be called /Media

both percent, if cache is filled > 80 % it ll move down until < 50 % is reached (depending on the last file size it can be 49, can be 48, ...)

17 hours ago, J05u said:

so anything newer 999 days will be ignored ;) i guess that wont be helpful ;)

help text ... "all newer files will be ignored"

usually you only should remove the dry run (like described in the help)

rsync --dry-run --stats -azhtU --mkpath --remove-source-files

may post your settings page ...

I just installed pwm fan on my T440 server with Unraid.

I'm trying to get functionality like HD Sentinel Pro that I used on Windows, to warn me of drive overheat, and control the fan appropriate.

By default, the T440 seems to control the FAN based on CPU load only, and the drives can be hot, but the fan stays at idle rate.

In the plugin settings, under "PWM FAN INFO, available Devices" nothing is shown. Does that mean pwm fan did not automatically detect my FAN control?

Is it possible for me help if find the fan and fan control?

exactly, should look somehow like this

can be either you need some driver to detect them or you are not using pwm fans (3 pin dc fans instead).

Cache Mover:

Hi,

where is the sense in copy episodes that had been already watched? For example i'm watching Dr. House S03E20, so the script did copy the whole season 3 onto the cache. But i do not need episodes E01 - E19 anymore as they had been watched already.

And how about an option to set how many upcoming episodes should be copied? Like for example "Hey, while watching S03E01, please copy only the upcoming 5 or 10 episodes. No need to copy instandly the whole season". But in the end that'a not a big deal.

Having the episodes that had been already watched is somehow "wasted resources".

Thanks for creating this plugin anyway!

well, the "sense" behind this is more (from the behaviour of my woman and daughter)

older shows which are then "rewatched" ... will be watched all over again, not only a single episode .... from s01e01 - s01e024 as sample ;)

so yes, its not meant for watching single episodes as this plugin wont build "databases" etc with watched states.

like described before ;)

if someone wants single file, choose file mode, it ll only copy the current played file then ...

so in the end, goal is to "cache" full movies (incl subs ...) and complete seasons to be cached, keep this all as simple, fast and light as possible incl. the "live" file access switching.

so, would this all be possible, sure, but then running through loops, building databases, looking forward, backwards for "edge" cases ... so sorry, but thats not my intention ;)

thanks for the feedback.

Well, it's not fast and light to copy 10 episodes instead of only 5 or 3 upcoming. That's somehow unnecessary. But i got your point. Anyway, thanks for the quick response.

may wrong described from me, keep the plugin as light as possible ;)

and about upcoming 3, 5, 10 ... next goal is, keep disks in spindown as much as possible and not spinup for the next 3 episodes again and so on, i got your point for sure, but my guess is always, if people (like me) prefer Media watching from cache pools

/ current shows are kept on cache anyway (sample mover tuning)

/ older shows, one run per season and then keep on cache too

if you run standard mover daily, i understand it even more as you copy over again and again, therefore i recommend mover tuning (to play together with cache mover) and keep the files cached.

all good, just to clarify what my thoughts are behind this.
