December 2, 201213 yr Does anyone know if this setup is compatible with the remote utorrent clients that are out there for tablets, smart phones and the like? Would be great to be able to control it from a tablet or phone with an app and nice GUI. Mike +1 I asked about this back in July in this thread and got no replies. http://lime-technology.com/forum/index.php?topic=20620.msg192687#msg192687 I presume such a thing doesn't exist? if not it's a significant missing feature compared to Transmission in my mind.
December 2, 201213 yr i haven't used any torrent software for quite some time, so don't take my word for it... but i believe, most of those remote apps simply connect to the web gui of utorrent. because of that, i'd guess, that those tools should work (as long as they can connect to your server).

Re-reading the thread I see this has been discussed before (see post #60) It seems the v3.1 server has this remote client feature but this server version is not yet available for linux
December 4, 201213 yr I do all of my torrent downloading on my windows machine. What I want to do is once I have downloaded the torrent is put it on my unraid server and just seed it. Kinda like a seedbox. Can I use this plugin for that? I will not use it to download, just seed Thanks

December 5, 201213 yr When I enable this plugin, my webui freezes. After selecting enable and applying changes, the screen sort of greys out, but stays greyed. If I try and access http://tower/ nothing loads. Unmenu is still available and I stopped the array. Shortly after when I was trying tower/ again I noticed unmenu also stopped and I couldn't telnet either. So I did a hard switch off. When I restarted the machine, UT server was working as were all of the menus. But I tried stopping it and starting again and the same thing happened. I see that I now have a parity check going - presumably because of how I shut down.. So I'm a bit unsure of how I should deal with the issue now. What is best practice for this situation? Stop array from unmenu? I guess if everything freezes including telnet, the only option is hard reset?? Thanks Edit: 15mins later, tower/ interface has started responding.
December 5, 201213 yr I installed the package and everything seems to be running I copied 3 torrent downloads to the server to seed it. It says it is seeding but it does not seem to be seeding. I restarted the unraid server and the 3 torrents are still there but they will not start to seed. I click on one and click the play button but nothing. I removed one of them and re-added it and then it started to seed but the seeding is not doing anything. What have I missed?
December 5, 201213 yr Could it be that nobody is downloading those torrents - so the torrent is seeding fine, there is just nobody requesting an upload. Has anyone had any luck changing the "move completed downloads to:" entry in the settings menu of the gui? WIth my desktop client, I'm used to changing this so that movies download to my movies folder; then I change it when I add music. My attempts at doing this via the gui have been ineffective. I enter a new value, click apply - but after I've added a new torrent, it seems to reavert to the previous setting. I'm not sure if the server needs to be restarted between changes? Can anyone check theirs? Thanks

Is it possible that you need to open and forward a port from your router to unraid? sent via tapatalk
December 5, 201213 yr I did that but it seems to do nothing. Is there a setting in unraid that may be blocking it
December 6, 201213 yr Unraid doesn't include any sort of firewall function, if something is listening on a port it will answer sent via tapatalk
December 6, 201213 yr Since today I've found my utorrent unresponsive. Trying to access the webui gets "connecting" for a minute or two and eventually "WebUI is having trouble connecting to utorrent" - try reloading the page. I've tried disabling the plugin and re-enabling. (Re-enabling freezes up the entire simple features interface for several minutes as described in my earlier post; but it DOES eventually become responsive again. Saving this freeze behavior, utorrent was working great until I checked it a few hours ago. I had 800 or so (low traffic) torrents happily seeding but then I noticed that a couple of new torrents that I knew were well seeded wouldn't start downloading. So I tried disabling/enabling the plugin and since then haven't been able to access it. Can anyone suggest how I should troubleshoot this? Thanks
December 6, 201213 yr Im new to torrents, always used newsgroups but it looks like the take downs are coming now, i installed this and it say my data directories are persistant but when i add torrents nothing happens, it just sits there are gives me a blank stare...what have i done wrong ? any advice greatly appreciated. Install directory: /mnt/cache/.apps/utserver Download directory: /mnt/cache/.apps/utserver/downloads Temporary directory: /mnt/cache/.apps/utserver/temp Additional informations: uTorrent server is running with version: 3.0 build 27079 uTorrent server storage memory usage: install directory: 2.3M, data directory: 0 Your data will persist after a reboot
December 8, 201213 yr loady, I don't use this tool, but what do you mean by "a blank stare"? Does the torrent show up in the interface for uTorrent? If it does, have you forwarded a port (on your router) to allow traffic to reach the client. On a normal uTorrent client you can set up the port it listens on, and then forward that port through your router to the IP running the service (the IP of your unRAID box). If you're behind a router and don't do this, the torrent client will have limited ability to connect to outside resources (it will fail to connect to many other peers/seeds that are also behind routers). If the torrent doesn't show up on the interface I suspect there is something wrong with your configuration or the way you are attempting to add torrents to the client.
December 17, 201213 yr Influencer, please make sure you post this to your unplugged plugins defintely higher priority over transmission mainly due to this reason So we have Transmission and uTorrent plugin for unRAID now.. Is there any advantage of using uTorrent over Transmission? I've been looking into using a bit torrent anonymizing proxy service such as BTGuard. As far as I can tell proxy support was removed from versions of Transmission above 1.4 and even then it only supported tracker, not peer proxies anyway. If this is true, for people who care, this seems like a big advantage of using uTorrent over Transmission. I'd be interested in any comments on this, especially from anyone using a service like BTGuard or some other similar mechanism. Could the OpenVPN Client plugin http://lime-technology.com/forum/index.php?topic=19439.0 be used to accomplish this and if so exactly how? also just signed up with BTguard, and would prefer the utserver over transmission in the unplugged releases
December 18, 201213 yr I have got this running and downloading, on my cache drive i have my apps folder with a period before it, .apps and i have set utorrent to be installed there, clearly its created its directories there but also it creates an apps folder outside of .apps, cache/apps/utorrent, in here is a utserver folder and a .conf file..is this right ?? cache/.apps/utserver/ cache/.data cache/apps/utorrent why is this being created here ?, also when i set a folder to move finished downloads to from within the GUI it just defaults back to what it was, ideally i would like to move finished downloads from the downloads folder on cache drive to a folderon the array.. this being /mnt/downloads/complete so i have set this from within the settings on the server interface for utorrent but it is complaining "WARNING:Your Data Directory is not persistent and WILL NOT survive a reboot. It may also lead to server instability and high RAM usage. Please locate Data Directory on disk for persistency" What gives, what am i missing here ? EDIT: I cant see the folder i set on my array but oddly it shows up here in MC...
December 21, 201213 yr I want this, but it hangs up my webgui once it's enabled. I'll keep an eye on this so I'll know if the problem gets fixed.
December 23, 201213 yr also just signed up with BTguard, and would prefer the utserver over transmission in the unplugged releases So are you successfully using the utserver plugin from this thread with BTguard? Is the setup for this configuration relatively straight forward? Any comments appreciated.

Is the setup for this configuration relatively straight forward? Any comments appreciated. setup for this plugin or btguard? plugin is pretty much similar to all other plugins for unraid. may run into small issues, mostly cuz we dont read some of the instructions lol completely. and bt guard is simple as entering the settings in the gui, an easy step-by-step here http://lifehacker.com/5863380/how-to-completely-anonymize-your-bittorrent-traffic-with-btguard

I also had this problem the last time I tried installing utserver a month or so ago. It seems it doesn't like it ignores the cache/.apps/ directory altogether after installation. Once files begin downloading, even incompleted files go into the newly generated (by utserver) cache/apps/ directory. I was willing to deal with this if I could go back into it, but like others have mentioned the GUI always freezes when I try to get back in once it's ran a couple days, so I removed the plugin. I, too, believe utorrent is better than transmission because of proxy settings being easily accessible.
January 1, 201313 yr Author I am really sorry for lack of support and development. I made this plugin just for myself and at the beginning it was really crude attempt to have utorrent running on my unRaid box. Later I decided to share it with people, but due to lack of time updates were very rare. I am aware of most of the issues, but unfortunately I can no longer work on those problems as I migrated from unRaid to Ubuntu Server. That makes it impossible to fix any of those problems. uTorrent for linux hasn't been updated for quite some time. It has some bugs which may cause strange behaviour (WebUI won't refresh after starting a daemon). If there is anyone interested please feel free to take over the project. Thank you for using this plugin. It makes me happy that I could contribute even a little to the community. Happy New Year
January 2, 201313 yr hi p4xel, I'm glad you provided the plugin to us, and for the while it did work was really awesome. IMO the feature that makes uTorrent > Transmission is that you can put info right into the settings to connect to a proxy. Recently the user 'piotrasd' has developed a working method to install Deluge for unraid which also allows for a proxy, so I think some might migrate to Deluge for this need, and updates still are developed for linux users. Actually you might even consider it for your Ubuntu Server
