[Support] Linuxserver.io - Plex Media Server

Featured Replies

Having some major problems with Plex on my Unraid 7.1.4 i5-12600K box.

It stopped playing .mpg files. It was also unable to play some movies that I was able to play on Sunday.

And for a bit there, it didn't see the iGPU. I was able to play at least one .mpg last week when I calibrated the 5.1 setup in the basement last week. I had added 3 magnetic fan filters to the bottom of the case. I removed these and was able to play a few movies I couldn't before but still not .mpg files. Not sure if that is related or a coincidence.

I saw that Plex updated on Sunday, so I tried reverting back to 1.41.6 by changing the repository to "linuxserver/plex:1.41.6". I also tried deleting the Codecs directory in appdata.

Even though I reverted back to 1.41.6, it is using Version 1.43.0.10162 . I don't even see a 1.43.0 in the linuxserver hub. And I see this in the logs:
linuxserver.io version: 1.41.6.9685-d301f511a-ls264

Build-date: 2025-04-28T10:53:22+00:00

UPDATE: I was able to go back to 1.42.2 by also changing the VERSION variable from "latest" to "1.42.2" and now I can play .mpg files again! But I still want to know why it went to 1.43.0.

Where is it getting 1.43.0? The latest I see is 1.42.2.

What is "video42bv"?

I think I found the answer.

It appears the "latest" tag includes beta releases for Plex Pass users. I don't want beta release - this last one borked my system.

I changed the tag to "public" to get the latest publicly released versions but not betas.

If anyone comes across this issue, in the meanwhile if you turn off all processing you can use the server.

I changed from version - docker to public and no change in version (1.42.2.10156). That is the public version.

Plex Database Corruption (database disk image is malformed)... Any database repair solutions?

I know there is a popular dbrepair tool, but I do not know how to use it on the docker?

dbRepair @ Githib

Also, is there any automation tools I can use to periodically backup my plex database?

Since an update at the beginning of June plex has consistently been using 100% of the CPU (as shown in Glances), I've gone through and disabled all scheduled tasks besides credit and intro scanning, what is the best way to determine the culprit here? What's the appropriate log to look into? Any help is appreciated!

Bumping this, just wondering if anyone else is having this issue as I'm still constantly pegged at >100% all the time.

Hello Everyone

I'm completely new to this Docker and Plex. I have PlexPass and a somewhat new Unraid running 6.12.13.

I've been ripping DVDs from my Sony DVD Changers for some time and just discovered that Plex does not play VIDEO_TS or ISO files.

My box is pretty stout with 128 GB of RAM and an i3-13500 CPU. What are my options here? Can I do some sort of Encoding/Transcoding to get plex to recognize and play my ripped DVDs?

Thanks

I use MakeMKV for this.

Is this within UnRaid or something else?

How are you using it?

I usually use it on another machine although I haven’t used it much recently. It’s also available in the apps tab but I haven’t used it as a docker. Don’t imagine there’s much difference though.

Thanks, I have it installed in docker and just converted my first file. It shows in Plex and plays!

Can this do multiple titles or do I need to do individually?

Can I rip directly to make mkv?

Thank you for the replies!

Answered both questions...

I dont see where I can select multiple titles.

I do see that I can rip directly to .mkv. Will try that next.

I guess after the conversion I'll delete the video_ts folders

After a Plex update on Unraid, it showed as migrating ("Plex Media Server is currently running database migrations.") but logs showed this error:

Error: Unable to set up server: std::exception (N2DB9ExceptionE)

The database was corrupted. I fixed it by restoring from Plex's automatic backup. There are resources out there already that explain this but hopefully this might help someone with this exact problem solve it a bit faster all via the Unraid terminal.

  1. Start a temporary container to access Plex's SQLite:

docker run -it --rm \
  -v /mnt/user/appdata/plex:/config \
  linuxserver/plex /bin/bash
  1. Navigate to the database folder:

cd "/config/Library/Application Support/Plex Media Server/Plug-in Support/Databases"
  1. List available backups:

ls -la *.db*

You should see backup files like com.plexapp.plugins.library.db-YYYY-MM-DD.

  1. Restore the most recent backup (replace the date):

mv com.plexapp.plugins.library.db com.plexapp.plugins.library.db.corrupt
cp com.plexapp.plugins.library.db-2026-01-01 com.plexapp.plugins.library.db

mv com.plexapp.plugins.library.blobs.db com.plexapp.plugins.library.blobs.db.corrupt
cp com.plexapp.plugins.library.blobs.db-2026-01-01 com.plexapp.plugins.library.blobs.db
  1. Remove stale WAL and SHM files:

rm com.plexapp.plugins.library.db-shm com.plexapp.plugins.library.db-wal
rm com.plexapp.plugins.library.blobs.db-shm com.plexapp.plugins.library.blobs.db-wal
  1. Exit and then start Plex via Unraid UI normally:

exit

I wanted to thank you for posting this. You 100% saved me. Seriously.... can't be more grateful. So many times people post a problem and then out of laziness will simply say "never mind, I solved it". It is a frustrating thing to deal with when you have the same problem. Even though the resources might be out there as you said, I am not 100% convinced I would have found them! Followed your instructions and it solved my problem exactly! THANK YOU

Ummmm can someone please help.

Plex was working fine last night
I have just had to turn off my server to replace some disks. Specifically replaced the parity drive, now rebuilding. Removed a disk which had already been removed from the array and was just sitting there. Added a new disk which is not part of the array and it is sitting there waiting to be added to the array.

After restarting, other docker containers appear to be OK, but my Plex container will not start. I get "Execution error. Server error" when I attempt to start it and the uptime section says "Exited (128)"

I cannot find many logs and they don't seem to say much anyway.

I really don't know what has happened or what to do. Can someone help me?

I've solved my problem. There was an old USB TV tuner that I don't use, so I unplugged it. Turns out the container very much wants it to be there though as when I plugged that back in the container immediately started.
