they both look fine.  As I said earlier, you probably have MS-DOS style carriage returns on the ends of the lines.

Since they are basically shell scripts, what happens when you invoke them on the command line?

any text printed by the command will show in the web-page.  You don't need to do anything special.

Sorry if this is the wrong place to post (please let me know if there is a better place).

I'm having issues installing the vim package in unMenu 1.5.  I installed "C" compiler & development tools and set it to re-install on reboot.  I also then rebooted.  I installed the vim package following this, and I get a message on package install saying "Installed, but version is different. Current version=' ' expected '7.2' ."

I try to run vim from the command line but get the following error:  "vim: /lib/libc.so.6: version `GLIBC_2.11' not found (required by vim)"

Any ideas?  I tried searching the web and the forums, but didn't find anything substantial.  Would appreciate anyone who could help or point me in the right direction.  Thanks in advance!

Hello. I upgraded to 5.0beta13 and then updated unmenu. Everything is working fine, just one small difference. The emails i get for parity checks no longer show speed and progress like they used to, only that a parity check is running. Was this feature lost? Example below.

How that information is store by unRAID has changed in the 5.0bX series.  The parity check script will probably be updated once 5.0 becomes final.

Good to know its not something broken on my end. Thanks!

Am I missing something? I upgraded from beta12a to beta13 (by copying the two files) and the server seems to boot OK. I am trying to add another drive using the preclear script. While doing this I noticed that unmenu quites working after awhile. I killed the process once and restarted and it worked for awhile before again it would not respond. Do I need to install a new version of unmenu with beta13? The note above seems to imply a new unmenu should be installed.

I think I am having other issues but want to make sure I am not missing something stupid.

Joe. L I have also seen this happen if there are multiple instances of this running:

logger -tunmenu -plocal7.info -is

I am not quite sure how 2 of them ended up running but the pid (1710 given above) might be another one of the logger cases.  Once I did a kill of the pid the messages stopped for me.

I am a bit confused now.

When I start Unmenu (Tower:8080) an click the About button I get: Version 1.5 Revision 241.

Am I on the latest Unmenu? If not: How do I update. I am on Unraid 4.7.

The fact that this thread is about 1.3. I had hoped an update would give me the option in the Disk Management section to format disks which I seem to miss.

The fact that this thread is about 1.3. I had hoped an update would give me the option in the Disk Management section to format disks which I seem to miss.

It will give you the option to format a disk IF it is partitioned and not assigned as part of the unRAID array.  It will only format using the "reiserfs" format used by unRAID.  You can partition a disk by pre-clearing it.

This thread started when I originally released unMENU 1.3.  It was a major change from the earlier versions in that it could download, install, and update itself.... no new thread was ever started when it advanced to newer versions.  Basically, there is very little left of the "main" unMENU from 1.3.  It has advanced over the years to what you see now with the contributions and suggestions of many unRAID users.

Hey, Joe!

Got some errors in my syslog that I'm curious about.

Similar blocks are repeating all the time in the log. It all started after I precleared (successfully) a 320G disk and manually started unmenu (to mount it). Unraid is 5b13 and unmenu.awk: Version 1.5 Revision: 241. Is it something to worry about, or should I just reboot and stop worrying? Unmenu error, unraid error os, hw error (or just fluke)? Need more info? I might have thrown in SNAP there at some time too.

Oh, I was looking in the log since I had poor performance on watching vids from my unraid (unwatchable, 5 sec play - 20 sec lag). Just wanted to know if it had something to do with something.

Just installed unMENU for the first time. Thanks Joe L. for all your work and diligence making this possible.

Hi there,

i got a smal problem with my unMenu 1.3 installation.

I havent used unMenu for months because there was no need to, but today i wanted to watch on the unMenu pages but i only get a blank page.

After restarting unMenu via Telnet i get this in me Syslog when i try to call the unMenu Pages:

Dec 19 20:18:45 HTMS unmenu-status: Starting unmenu web-server
Dec 19 20:19:15 HTMS unmenu[30191]: awk: ./unmenu.awk:1722: fatal: division by zero attempted

Dec 19 20:19:15 HTMS unmenu[30191]: unmenu.awk unable to open port. It may already be running

I am on 5.0beta13 and besides speedingant's simple features plugin and an S3 script my server is all stock.

you probably just need to upgrade the unmenu install.    Lots of those fixes for divide by zero in myMain have been foxed for quite a while.

To update on the command line, after logging in , type:

cd /boot/unmenu

unmenu_install -u

Then type

killall awk

/boot/unmenu/uu

Thanks Joe that did the trick.

I just thought that because i installed the last main Version 1.3, i was up-to-date.

What about the applications i installed via unMenu (like smtp etc.) does they have to be updated too? And if yes, how?

They are updated in exactly the same way.  (so you already did it)

On the other hand, we are well past version 1.3.  The current version of unmenu.awk is:

Version 1.5 Revision: 241

The 1.3 version number does not really identify your unMENU release.  You can click on the "about" link in unMENU and see the version number of most of the modules used within it.  As of today on my server, it looks like this:

unmenu.awk: Version 1.5 Revision: 241  Joe L.... with modifications as suggested by bjp999 and many others

Plug-in-modules

07-unmenu-mymain.awk: 1.54 - changes for myMain 4-10-11 release, contributed by bjp999 - preclear support - Revision: 229

08-unmenu-array_mgmt.awk: 1.2.4 - fixed path to md.c to detect NOCORRECT mode - Revision: 241

09-unmenu-disk_mgmt.awk: 1.7 - fixed "mount" command to get file system type even if disk is apparently not spinning (where temp = "*" or "") - Revision: 232

10-unmenu-links.awk: 1.2 Fixed increment of link counter - Revision: 7

15-unmenu-disk_perf.cgi: .1 - Proof of concept version Joe L. - Revision: 7

15-unmenu-network_perf.cgi: .1 - Proof of concept version Joe L. - Revision: 190

16-unmenu-syslog.awk: Version: 1.0  - modified by bjp999, Use common routines to generate enhanced syslog viewer - Revision: 178

Does this work with 5.0-Beta12a?

I installed it, but I get text only screens that don;t look very good at all.

Very new to all of thi, so don't ask any hard questions.

It works with all versions of unRAID, and most are text based screens (the myMain page has some graphics), although they don't look "that" bad.

It is a small miracle it is able to render web-pages at all.  It is a collection of "awk" scripts, as when it was developed unRAID had no web-server we could use, so I coded one using the available commands in the basic unRAID distribution.
